My name is Susan and I’m so happy to be here at Southern Hospitality today! I blog at Love of Home and my family lives in an over 100 year old farmhouse in NY state.
Rhoda was kind enough to feature our home last year on Feature Friday, so some of you might remember me. I hope you enjoy seeing our front porch!
You don’t have to spend a lot of money to pretty things up. I’ve been painting and sewing, two easy ways to refreshen up any space even on a budget!
I love the hanging baskets they add so much to the porch. Ferns are a must have, I love the color and texture they add.
The ferns thrive on the front porch. I think it’s the perfect combination of sunlight and shade.
By the end of the summer, they are down past the railings.
The swing got a fresh coat of paint.
I recovered the swing cushion and sewed some new pillows.
My grandmother’s set got a fresh coat of paint and I reupholstered the chair pads.
Just off the porch the milk can got a refresh too.
My estate sale find, a black metal bench got paint, a new cushion and some pillows. I make all my pillows this way it’s so easy!
The white wicker chair and table are from an estate sale too a few years ago. I think I paid $10 for them.
I made a new pillow for the chair.
Want to see more? I share our back porch in this post.
Have a great day!

I absolutely LOVE your porch and its décor! It makes me really miss Upstate New York and New England. You would think after 20 years I would be over it, but I’m not! (Of course I don’t miss the cold!) I love that you defined the spaces with area rugs. And I love that you chose to feature red for the pillows. And your hanging baskets are so lush with the vibrant flowers and ferns. Enjoy the warm East Coast weather!
