Let’s keep the conversation going once more on Bed and Bath ideas, by pondering this question.
Do you have a TV in the master bedroom?
Oh, I am guilty of this one. We have had a TV in our bedroom since day one of our marriage 5 years ago and I can’t imagine NOT having it in there, but I know there are many differing opinions on this one. And I’d like to say that the doors stay shut most of the time, but that’s not true either. Usually they are wide open for viewing.
So, what do YOU think? Yay or Nay, TV viewing at your fingertips or do you prefer to keep the bedroom null and void of the big black monster, therefore creating a sanctuary?
I’m still counting the days (4 to be exact!) until I leave for the ranch! Can you tell I’m just a little bit excited about all of this? We’ll be filming a video segment talking all about Bed and Bath ideas and I hope to use some of my reader’s comments for this one. Even if you can’t go with me, you’ll all be with me in spirit and of course, I’ll share all the fun when I return.
Head on over to the Putting it All Together page for more on this subject from the other girls who getting in on the discussion.

I’m going with nay on this one simply because I like keeping my bedroom as a soft sanctuary for reading and meditating. It seems to keep the energy just right for getting a restful nights sleep.
have a wonderful time at the Ranch…so jealous!!

Yah for TV. It’s just one of those things…like to have it, love it when I am sick, I go to sleep with it on, watch some girly movies when I can…I just wish I had a sleek flat screen now 🙂

When we first got married, I insisted NO TV in the bedroom (since that’s what everybody says you’re supposed to do). So this is what our nights looked like: I went to bed alone while my husband stayed up in the living room to watch TV. So finally I decided that the ONLY way we were going to go to bed together, was if there was a TV in the room. And now, we happily go to bed together; me to sleep, my husband to watch TV. But at least we’re together 🙂

no tv in the bedroom for us. We only have one in the living room. Right now this works for the two of us, but I’m sure sometime down the road as hour home and family expands our tv situation will, too.

Yay for the tv in the bedroom. We still have older kids at home and they can watch the tv in the family room while hubby & I watch what we want in our room.We have a dvr in our room, so we usually watch shows that were on while we were out doing other things. We’ve been married for almost 34 years and would never allow a tv to take over “our” time.

yah. i say yes to the tv in the bedroom. we enjoy many of the same shows and enjoy watching them later at night when the phone is done ringing and while waiting for kids to get home.
Mellissa C says
That is a No. The bedroom is for sleeping and the other word that starts with a S.

I think it’s okay. You’ve dealt with it so beautifully – I just love that cabinet.

No tv in our MB: I’ve never lived in a home with more than 1 tv (I’m 43). We enjoy watching old movies on dvd – it’s really not a problem or inconvenient to watch in our family room. I think it’s hard to decorate around 2 focal points… we have a fireplace on the wall opposite our tv cabinet. The way our mantel is positioned, a flat screen will be too high visually if hung above it. I’ll deal with that problem when I have to – not now.
If I had a tv in our bedroom – I would love to have a beautiful cabinet like yours!

Rhoda, for me it is a no because once to bed I want to read or be cozy with my guy without all of the distractions of the day. I feel the same way about having the television on during dinner!

I do not nor ever had a TV in my bedroom. My bedroom is my sanctuary and I prefer it to be my quiet place. When I was married we did not have a TV in there because it was our place to spend uninterrupted time together. I also do not like to have a TV on when my family is eating, it is a time for togetherness and conversation.

in the big time NAY camp! we added a 2nd floor to our home 7 years ago love my bedroom suite w/fireplace, floor to ceiling bookshelves in my office area…wouldn’t dream of letting a tv intrude on this space. Good idea for bath…was scouting for bath vanities back then, so expensive and mostly really cheesey. Ended up finding a dining room set sideboard, cut out space for the 2 sinks…love the furniture look in the bathroom and hundreds less than a vanity.

Hi Rhoda! Just because a TV is in one’s bedroom does not mean that it has to be “on” all the time…I mean it does have a power switch. When my husband and sons are watching a ballgame or hunting/fishing show in our living room, I am apt to slip off into our bedroom and watch HGTV or something on Lifetime. And I usually have it on in the mornings while I’m getting ready for work…just to hear the day’s news and weather forecast. Not a big deal in our household.

We have a small tv in our bedroom that is mostly used by our almost 4 year old early in the morning – usually on weekends – cause he is an early bird. Hubby and I use it to watch the news at night while we are getting ready for bed.

Hi Rhoda, yes we have a tv in our bedroom, a big one mounted on the wall. we are both retired/disabled and i spend a lot of time resting and napping..watch a lot of foxnews and hgtv..would be lost without it. Sad to say but the tv is my door to the outside world most days along with the internet…And when we are not in there or we are just reading, its off..it does have a off switch…lol

although it’s tempting I prefer to leave television outside of the bedroom. It keeps it more relaxing that way 🙂

YAY, from me. We have a TV, it usually lulls us to sleep:) I also check the weather in the morning. It is not a necessity but a convenience to us. XO, Pinky

I would love to win this because I so need to organize my bedroom and living spaces. Thank you!
