Red and White Christmas Craft

I still love red and white for Christmas and enjoy using red, white, and lime green in my kitchen.  Those colors are happy and really fit well with my white kitchen. So, this month for my FrogTape® project, I found a cute metal cylinder container which I thought would be perfect for Christmas decorating.   I’ll find a spot to use it this year.

metal vase before

I spotted this metal container at Goodwill for 99 cents.  Definitely a bargain and left over from Valentines Day.  It’s cute with the red hearts, but not what I need for Christmas.

spray paint

Using some paint I had already, I sprayed the base in Heirloom White and then taped it off with FrogTape and sprayed stripes in high gloss red.

taped top

First I taped off the top because it was already red and I wanted to keep it red.

spray white

Spraying the base with white, I let it all dry well before taping it off with FrogTape.

sprayed solid white

I used the yellow Delicate Surface FrogTape® because I wanted to be sure my base coat would be well protected.

spray painted red

After spraying with a nice coat of glossy red, I had this pretty striped container.

decorated mantel red and white

Using some of my red and green fronds, I filled up the container with all these Christmas pretties and added in a sparkly green Joyful Tidings sign I have for the Holidays.  I love the punch of red and white and how simple these colors are to use for Christmas.   Red and green will always get my vote, especially when the green is vivid like this.   Using my mantel as the backdrop, it’s a pretty vignette in red, white, and lime green.

The glossy red stripes against the white background add just the right amount of punch to this inexpensive metal vase.

So, think about repurposing something you might have laying around the house for Christmas.  All it takes is spray paint and some Frogtape to get the job done.

Working with FrogTape®, I’m always on the lookout for something that I can repurpose and make better. That’s my Frogtape project this month, hope this got you inspired once again with the POWER of paint and how you can virtually change anything with paint. My fave home improvement weapon, paint does wonders for everything.

I tend to use red, green and gold at my house but I love your bright green and red kitchen decorations that I have enjoyed since I started reading your blog when you were back in Bham. And to be honest, I “stole” a few of your ideas from those posts!! Love your style Rhoda.

Love the simple glossy red stripes on that vase. You always inspire me to look around and use what I have. And I have been using spray paint more to update those found treasures.
    Happy Thanksgiving Rhoda!

Your photos are giving me the itch to start decorating for winter! I love the vase you crafted! I just wanted to comment and mention that Brookstone sells some really affordable seasonal decorations for all different seasons and holidays. I just purchased some pre-lit birch willow branches that would be perfect for the vase you just crafted! I just thought I’d share since not many people think of Brookstone for holiday decor.
