We’ll wrap up the beach trip today with a few more beach pics and some eating out highlights (which, if you haven’t figured that out yet, is one of our favorite things to do). Bring on the food! Especially seafood. We have a few favorite restaurants here at the beach now and they never disappoint.
One more look at the beach where we stayed. I can never get tired of looking at these pics.
One of our favorite discoveries in Seagrove Beach is Cafe 30-A. It’s right on the main drag in Seagrove and we have been there several times over the last couple of years. It’s always great. Billed as casual fine dining, it’s really pretty inside too. Come on in!
Soaring white ceilings with beach umbrellas hanging across the top, I thought this was a clever way to decorate a restaurant on the beach.
I had shrimp with pasta and it was simply delish! I got so excited, my pic is blurry. 🙂 I ate every single morsel of this delectable dish.
The snapper was equally good.
We both had one of these for dessert, along with coffee. We both love, love creme brulee, especially when it is as good as this one was. YUM!
Back out to the beach on one of our sunny days. We had rain every other day, so we had to get it while we could. The seagulls were hanging around that day, trying to get a morsel of food.
Always cute to look at.
Since it rained one day, I did catch up on some movies I had missed. We had free video rentals at our condo, so I got to see Marley & Me (finally!). Oh man, I boo-hooed at the end. Reminded me so much of saying goodbye to my sweet dog, Tara almost 4 years ago. I heard it was sad at the end, but I wasn’t expecting to be that tore up!
One of our relaxing on the beach opportunities.
We headed over to Panama City one night to meet up with 2 of my old college friends, Bob and Becki. On the way, we passed this humongous house which we’ve seen before and always think it looks like a giant spaceship. Have no idea who lives here, but it’s an interesting place.
Met them at Boondocks, in Panama City Beach and the food was great. I had grilled shrimp that night.
One more morning stroll on the beach and it was time to head home.
Bye birdies!
And one last stop for some lunch at one of our favorite finds, Dewey Destin. We filled up on seafood and headed home to Alabama.
This place is great, right on the water. No frills, good food.
The best views ever!
Enjoying the sun and water.
Lots of boats in this area too.
Plenty of birds hang around here too.
Their menu. I almost always get the fried shrimp. It’s THE BEST!
See! Doesn’t that look fantastic?! I’m hungry and wish I had another one of these right now.
Hope you enjoyed our little beach trip to the Gulf coast of Florida. We always enjoy our stay and look forward to going back.

Great pictures! Looks like you had a wonderful trip. What great beaches they have done there. I have added this to my list of future vacations stops along with Dewey Destin. I love the views and the food looks yummy.
Rhoda it was fun coming along with you on your recent beach trip. We share two things at least in common….a love for seafood…and I don’t eat desserts generally, but I do love a great Creme Brulee! The best I’ve ever eaten was in Vail, Colorado on one of our family ski trips at a French Restaurant…..it was out of this world! My husband and I take a trip to the beach every 6 weeks or so..his 87 yr. old mother lives there. We spend about 4-6 days eating our way around the beach, It’s an important part of any vacation. Blessings and thanks for sharing in blogland! The pleasure is all ours.
The picture {somewhere in the middle} with the different colored umbrellas on the dock would make a nice framed picture, Rhoda. It seems like you really enjoyed your trip. The best thing about vacations is eating out!
Great photos! I love every one!!
Wish I was there right now!
Looks like you had a wonderful time Rhoda!
Makes me want to go back to the beach again. Oh, and that food…YUMMY! I’m hungry now!
I’m bummed I didn’t win the invitation to the online conference your speaking at 🙁
I know you’ll have a ball doing it though! Congrats!

RHODA!! I am so excited! Thank you so much for hosting the giveaway! What an awesome prize. 😀 I am thrilled!!!
I am so hungry after reading this post!!! These are beautiful photos! What a wonderful vacation spot.
Rhoda, you and your hubby are so cute! Love, love, love seafood too and the beach. Can’t believe God didn’t cause me to be born near the ocean since I love seafood so very much. Instead, I’m in the middle of Tex-Mex land and I would rather have scallops, crab cakes, mahi-mahi, or shrimp!
I think I’ve seen that interesting house one of HGTV’s programs about outrageous homes. It was quite interesting. I recall the owners original home was destroyed in a storm and they decided to stay and rebuild their home in a unique style to be storm proof.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful world with us — and especially your trips to the beach and the photos of seafood. I don’t get to the beach often enough, but I am making skillet paella tonight!
Blessings,
Victoria in Texas
You and your hubby make such a cute couple! Now I can’t wait to get tback to Destin to try Dewey’s. We have been going to Destin for about 5 years and we have never tried Deweys. Glad you had a wonderful trip.
I loved this post with the photos of the beach and great places to eat! Thanks; now I’m really hungry! I’ve never been to this part of Florida but you certainly have me interested now. Thanks for sharing your photos. Love how you two looked so relaxed on the beach; wish I were there.
Rhoda,
I am in downtown Fairhope, AL….also known as Paradise… I have been reading your blog for a while and love it. I have started back blogging myself. I blogged for over 2 years during our Guatemalan adoptions and had quite a following. Now I’m venturing into the blogging world of decorating and DIY projects which are my favorite things to do…. I also sew all my 2 baby girls’ clothes too. Needless to say, I’m a BUSY woman. I did want to tell you that I’ve discovered THE BEST store tucked away in southern Alabama….the BEST and MOST affordable vintage pieces I’ve ever seen. You won’t BELIEVE the prices. I’m going to be doing a post next week on this site. I would wager that you will be heading this way after you see….. There’s nothing like living in the south!
I’m so excited that I’m one of the winners! Thanks, Rhoda! 🙂
Hey Rhoda,
Since I live not too far from there here is the info that has been floating around for years.
The weird house belongs to Charlie Hilton, he lives here in Panama City and owns both Gulf Asphalt Co. and the Sunspree Resort (Holiday Inn).
It’s been dubbed the “Hilton House”. They started working on it in 1999 and I don’t think it’s complete yet.
The designer is Arthur Dyson. It’s constructed out of solid concrete with tons and tons of glass. (here is the link to the designers port folio http://www.arthurdyson.com/pr-hiltommain.html)
Supposedly the house beside it belongs to Michael Jordan. Not sure but that is the rumor.
That’s about all I know…it hasn’t been on HGTV yet, although when they get it finished I’m sure it will end up there.
They more or less built it just because they can…by that I mean rich enough too.
Oh my… that sand resembles snow it’s so white! What a lovely getaway! I love that fish sign too. LOL
