It is always a treat every spring to attend the preview of the Southeastern Designer Showhouse in Atlanta. It’s most always in Buckhead and this one was right off West Paces Ferry Drive. It’s now open to the public from April 14 – May 8th. Sponsored by Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles magazine, it’s a beautiful way to welcome spring in this their 7th year.
The home is 9,300 s.f. and was built by an all female team, Linda MacArthur Architects, builder EverCraft LLC, Kit Castaldo Design, and Floralis Garden Design, and decorated by a mix of notable Southeastern designers who were asked to decorate with their signature styles. In the Kingswood neighborhood of Buckhead, the home evokes a feel of a vacation home in Cape Cod, with the charcoal shake exterior with white trim. So crisp and eye-catching! The home features 4 levels with 5 bedrooms, seven full baths, two half baths, a kitchen, a breakfast area, a large fireside family room, two dedicated office spaces, two music rooms, a terrace level with a gaming room and wellness space and an expansive outdoor living area with heated pool, grilling area and covered porch.
Proceeds this year benefit Camp Twin Lakes, a nonprofit organization that delivers fully adaptive, medically supportive and deeply impactful camp experiences to Georgia’s children and young adults who have serious illnesses, disabilities, and other life challenges.
It’s always a treat to walk through and see all the designs. The designers work really hard on a project like this, so I hope you enjoy.
I love the front entrance. The front door is gorgeous.

Hope you all enjoyed this tour of the Southeastern Designer Showhouse, Part 1. Don’t miss Part 2 of the show house here.
While the inside is certainly beautiful, it’s pretty standard for ‘over the top’ show house stuff. But the outside??? Unbelievable. Just spectacular. Can’t wait for part 2!
I love the outside too. I know everyone has different ideas on what is pretty and all spaces are not to everyone’s tastes, but I try to remember the designers put a lot of work and effort into these houses, so they get kudos from me.
I love a good Showhouse! I’m really happy that color and fabulous wallpaper are back in style (they were never “out” in my little world 😉).
Looking forward to part 2!
I love the wallpaper too! Always loved wallpaper and still love it now.
Just about the worst-looking house I’ve ever seen. Are they serious when they call this good design?
I agree Nelda, worst design and finishes ever.
Hey Fellow Southern Hospitality peeps. I’m so glad to see that I’m not the only one not diggin this house. I usually like the decorator show houses, but they missed the mark with this one. But……I do like the pool and our door space. I would have liked the porch, but the stained wood on that ceiling didn’t match the rest of the room. I so appreciate Rhoda sharing pictures so I could save my time and $$$ !
Hi, Jan, it’s funny we all have different likes and tastes. I did love the stained wood ceiling on the porch, I thought it contrasted nicely with the charcoal shakes and blended well with the floor.
Unfortunately, I can hardly read your posts because of the continuous stream of ads. From the few photos I could see the style was very modern for my taste. Not a fan of the kitchen. The house, however, was beautifully done in “show house” style.
Mary Ray, I see zero ads on Rhoda’s blog. Maybe try using Duck Duck Go browser.
I did install the duck duck go app and was able to view the post without any ads streaming. Thank you for giving me that information.
Mary Ray
I always enjoy the showcase homes. All I could think with this one was “one of these things was not like the other.” Each designer definitely had a style. However, their styles did not relate. There was no ‘flow’ The best part of this home was the exterior – that space was beautiful. Thanks, Rhoda for sharing all of your photos.
Thought the outside was beautiful, but it felt like they just wanted to spend money to impress “someone” and not create a home.
Where do some of these designers come from. Some of these rooms are so beyond tacky. The inside looks like a flea market.
The outside looked refreshing.
Every time I see a show house on a blog I have the highest hopes that it will be stylish and make sense. And almost every single time I feel disappointed. I get it that designers are competitively creative but life is chaotic enough without intentional chaos in design. This house was, once again, typical Buckhead show house design chaos.
I use to always look forward to the Christmas Open House at Callanwolde because the designers had certain parameters because of the age of the home. The selected designers displayed amazing creativity in their room designs but it was all so tasteful and somehow FLOWED within the home.
Rhoda, do you happen to know the exterior paint colors? I liked the colors, and I’m trying to pick colors to have our house repainted. Also, when I see pictures of show houses, I think of it in terms of each designer trying to promote their design skills and philosophy. I don’t think of it in terms of someone living in that house as it is for the show. So I think of it as just discrete rooms that people might pick up an idea from here and there. Just my approach to looking at show house pictures, because I never like everything that’s in a show house. 🙂
Hi, Gayle, sorry I don’t have any paint color information. You’re right, I look at showhouses the same way. Not to be taken too seriously, but get inspired in certain rooms.
