It takes me awhile to post all my pics when I travel, but I can’t let these get away without sharing them with all of you.
There is truly not a more beautiful city than San Francisco in my book. I’ve had the pleasure of visiting this seaside city two other times in the past and saw most of the touristy sites at that time. I’ve walked up those steep hills on walking tours, strolled along the waterfront and eaten crabs at the restaurants in town. I’ve had delish Italian food in North Beach and chocolate at Ghirardelli Square. It was all good!
The charm and history of San Francisco cannot be beaten. The sights are glorious!
Kate and I stopped at one of the parks going into the city and took some pics of the bridge. Oh, that beautiful bridge. It is such a pretty red hue and accented against the blue sky, it’s a sight to behold.
When we headed into the city, the normal morning fog had moved in and left much of the bridge in a hazy mist. It’s eerie and pretty at the same time. We had a gorgeous blue sky day.
See the mist and fog hovering over the water here? It’s an awesome sight.
The Golden Gate bridge is truly a sight like no other you’ve ever seen.
Until you see it in person, you can’t appreciate the full magnitude of the bridge and the city.
Awe-inspiring for sure!
I couldn’t stop taking pics from all angles, trying to capture that pretty red shade.
Here’s a shot of Alcatraz across the water, the old prison that is now closed. It sits out in the bay out from San Francisco.
So, this day we drove through the streets and stopped to take a few pics, just enjoying the beautiful day.
The city from the bridge side.
These winding streets are so pretty and picturesque.
Views from the top of the hills are something else. I can see why folks love living in this city. The views alone would be something great to wake up to.
The bay across from the city.
We stopped near the Presidio and took pics of the former military housing. How beautiful are these houses?
I could totally live in a house like this, couldn’t you?
Kate took me to the Palace of Fine Arts, which she told me was built for one of the World’s Fairs. I had not seen this sight before and it was truly beautiful.
The typical pose of a tourist, that was me. 🙂
How gorgeous is this? Reminds me of something in Italy.
I don’t know all the history of this place, but it sure is pretty to look at.
Passing a pretty church.
I tried to take a variety of shots of the different architecture. It’s amazing!
Kate pointed out this house with the mailbag mailbox made from metal. So cool!
These blue shutters were the bomb.
Streetcar lines
Kate wanted us to have lunch at the Cliff House, which I had never been to before.
Gorgeous views, so of course I took lots more pics here.
Cliffs and surf.
Some beautiful rocky coast.
And a few seagulls hanging out.
There were plenty of surfers in the water that day too. I’m sure they all had to be wearing wetsuits to stand the cold water.
We had some calamari.
Kate had pot stickers and a salad.
I had a mahi-mahi sandwich.
What a memorable time in San Francisco. Another lovely visit to this great city!
Have you been to San Francisco? I’m sure you had to love it as much as I did, right?

We just went there for the first time in September this year. I found the Presido to be so unique and loved the houses! Unfortunately for us, the fog never lifted so if I wouldn’t have rode over the Golden Gate Bridge, I would swear it isn’t there! We ate on Pier 39 and did a lot of walking along the wharf. It was a little overwhelming for my husband and I that aren’t used to the hustle and bustle of city life. However, we really enjoyed visiting there and loved the architecture! Thanks for reminding me of the great time we had this fall!

I worked for a grant for 3 years for which I had to travel to Oakland and SanFrancisco 6 times per year. I was able to take in a lot of the city on a few of those trips and really enjoyed it. We even toured Alcatraz on one trip at dusk…now that’s really spooky!

Did you visit Alcatraz? If I ever go back I will visit it again, I enjoyed it that much. So many interesting facts!
Great shots of the Golden Gate!

We lived in nearby San Jose when I was in middle school. I remember taking BART to SF for a field trip to the US Mint. Although that was in exciting field trip, I didn’t appreciate the beauty of the city until my husband and I visited there several years when he was out there for a conference and I tagged along. Oh, I LOVED the city, the bridge, the hilly streets, the street cars, the of course, the food! Thanks for sharing the pictures!

San Francisco is a great city, so much diversity. It has some of the best food of any city I have been in, other than New Orleans! You got some great pix of the Golden Gate and Bay.

My mother is from San Francisco. I grew up going to Northern Ca for many family events. Even after my grandfather moved to the area around Santa Cruz we would still go to SF. I have cousins and Uncles who still live there.

I grew up in SoCal and never visited San Fran one time- crazy right? Someday I will. Thanks for sharing these pics – you’re right those blue shutters are the bomb!

So thrilled that you were in San Franciso this year too, Rhoda. We Love! Love! Love Frisco, Sausalito and so much of that area. We were there this year in April for our anniversary. Stayed in a beautiful boutique hotel – Inn Above Tide in Sausalito so we could be close to Frisco, Muir Woods, Napa, and Sonoma. We even ventured down to Monterrey Bay to see the Aquarium and then to Carmel to just sit by the ocean and drool. And guess where we ate after driving back up PCH 1 to Frisco? The Cliff House. Isn’t it wonderful? The foods is as good as the view. Enjoying your photos and remembering our trip and gonna have to view our photos again too. Thanks for sharing your experience, Rhoda. Let’s both do it again very soon!

Great photos of a beautiful city. My husband and I were there in August and I was able to capture some awesome shots, as well. We are RVers, and stayed in Petaluma, which is a lovely city, too.

I LOVE San Francisco! My favorite SF quote: ” When I get to heaven, I’ll look around and say, ‘ It ain’t bad, but it ain’t San Francisco”.

Rhoda, my son lives there and loves it! He could have been one the surfers!! It’s a beautiful place to live. I don’t think we’ll ever get him to move back to hot and boring Mississippi!

As a native, I have to agree…San Francisco is the most beautiful city in North America! You got some GORGEOUS shots, and lucky you, looks like you had beautiful sunny skies (which is definitely not the norm in the summertime). My aunt used to go to the Sutros Baths (at the Cliff House) when she was young…hope you got the history while there, it is fascinating. Glad you had such a good visit!
P.S. Not a correction, just a bit of trivia for you…did you know the Golden Gate is not actually red? It’s orange~International Orange to be specific. Isn’t it stunning?
