Sonoma Antiques & Lunch

I’m back with the last post from my trip to California in September.  It was so much fun to document all the fun and great scenery we experienced in those days.

Day 2 in California with my friend, Kate, took us to the wine country, Sonoma County to be exact, since that is where Kate lives.  It is a beautiful part of our country, with rolling hills, luscious grapevines bursting with color and a blue sky that just wouldn’t quit.  Yes indeed, September was the perfect time of year to visit northern Cali.  I loved every minute of it.

We took off through the Sonoma valley, stopping at a few wineries that Kate wanted to show me along the way.  I don’t remember the names of all of them, but Vendisi was one that we strolled through.  There was a fun architectural salvage place at one, called Artefact and we had so much fun there, looking at all the great old vintage items.

Artefact

It truly is a treasure trove of old and rusty things, just what many of us enjoy.

architectural salvage

Corbels, iron, wood, metal, glass, all sorts of textures to tease the senses are at Artefact.

Artefact table

Lots of interesting items to look at.

chalkboard globe

This cool chalkboard paint globe was in a nearby shop.

clock

Big face clock.

Cool setting!

distressed wood

Old and rustic wood.

huge corbel

One big honkin’ concrete corbel!  This thing was huge.

industrial light fixture

Industrial lighting.

Kate ball of wood

Kate and a big ball of wood.  BIG, definitely BIG!

Kate lantern

Kate, the drama queen and a candle lantern.  There were some great things in this place.

old wine bottles

Old vintage wine bottles.  I’m sure these are plentiful in Sonoma County.  Loved the Fall colors of these.

Rhoda old wood

A huge driftwood sculpture and you can see how big it is compared to me.

A wooden horse.

El Dorado Kitchen

We ate lunch at this yummy restaurant, El Dorado Kitchen.

Flatbread

I LOVE the fresh food in California and could eat like this every day. Fresh and simple fare, like this flatbread with mushrooms and arugula, this is my kind of food.  We also got some spicy shrimp that you can see in the background, along with a fresh salad.

YUM!!  Delicious and tasty it was.  We had a lot of fun and I will treasure the memories forever.

I’m jealous – I *love* northern California! Hubby and I went there in Sept. 2009 for our 25th wedding anniversary and I’m dying to go back! The wineries, the mountains, the blue skies, the beaches, the food…mmm.
