{Giveaway is Closed}

One of the perks of being a design blogger is getting to do book reviews.  And as a lover of Southern Living magazine, of course, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to check out a brand new book by the publisher of one of my favorite magazines.  I’m a Southern girl, after all!

Southern Living Style

As a longtime fan of Southern Living, it was fun to open the packed full of inspiration pages of this beautiful new book and see it for myself.

SL Style page

You’ll find all sorts of inspiration ideas for updating your home.  Gracious hospitality, warmth and effortless elegance signify great Southern style.

Turning a dining room into a sitting room is easy with a little guidance.

And how many of us have loved taking old cast-offs from the attic or thriftstore and repurposing them into something fresh and glam.  Yes, we have!

Sharing updated ways of using old things, this book will inspire you too. I’m so happy to have it in my personal book collection as a reference guide and just to look at.  I love pretty decorating books!

You’ll find:

  • Defining Southern Style: From heirlooms to monograms, new ways to celebrate traditional icons
  • Reclaim It:  Tips to turn grandma’s attic finds into updated treasures
  • Solutions from Top Southern designers for design dilemmas
  • Style on a Budget:  Identify individual style and build a room around it
  • Why It Works?:  Piece-by-piece deconstruction of rooms to show the key components required to achieve a particular look.
  • Southern Style File:  Black book of editors’ favorite designers, retailers, and more.
  • Defining Southern Style:  A glossary of helpful “decorator speak” terms.

The Southern Living publishers are allowing me to give away TWO copies to my readers!  Squeeeeaaaal!!

I knew that you would be excited about that too, so all you have to do is leave a comment.

Tell me what room in your house needs updating the most and what you hope to gain from reading this book!

That’s it!  Leave a comment and I’ll choose TWO random winners in a few days!

Of about three different rooms in my home that need updating, my living room needs it the most. I love Southern style decorating and I’m sure the Southern Living Style book would be most helpful to me in making the much needed changes to my living room.

I have been a devoted fan of Southern Living for nearly 30 years – my Daddy started my subscription when I got my first apartment after college, thinking all proper southern girls should read SL! I would just love this inspirational book, and thank you, Rhoda, for making it available for the giveaway!

My boyfriend and I just bought a house and needs some help…especially the kitchen. It has the builder’s cabinets, countertops, floor, etc…meaning boring and stale!! We are on a limited budget and any ideas from this book would help greatly.

Missing my Southern roots! I live in California and just bought a new home. Every room needs a make over and looking for inspiration! Can’t get the South out of my mind! I really want a house thats a home not a museum! Something charming, warm and so inviting!

Since we are moving into our brand new house in early December, nothing needs a “make over” just yet, but I would seriously love to find some ideas for a warm and most of all COMFY living room!

I have been a loyal reader since I was approx. 16 years of age. My design files for years contained nothing but SL photos. We have had our home for a little over 7 years. When we found the house and walked through many times, I envisioned every room. When it came to actually updating and decorating, I could not make a true decision. My house still feels to much like a house and not a home. I am hoping this wonderful book by Southern Living will help me make my house that home I am looking for. The main room I would focus on first is our master bedroom. We have had a rough 7 years because I became sick just 4 months after we married all the while trying to become a blended family. We are now empty nesters and even though I will face my illnesses for the rest of my life, our marriage is finally getting stronger. I spent quite a bit of my day in the bedroom but in addition, I would love for it to become our refuge, our sanctuary, our special place. I want to make it our home within our home.
Thanks for the opportunity to enter this wonderful giveaway.

I love Southern Living magazine. I have taken it forever; I even had a subscription when we lived in England! I have a great collection of the yearly cookbooks and Christmas books to pass down to my girls. I would love to see their new decorating book!
