Southern My Way Cookbook Giveaway

{Giveaway is Closed}

Raised in South Georgia’s farm country, cookbook author, Gena Knox has a long history with the land and Southern cooking.  Her newly released cookbook, Southern My Way: Simple Recipes, Fresh Flavor, features more than 250 pages of seasonal recipes (100+ recipes), streamlined for busy lives and accompanied by full-color photographs that portray a lifelong love affair with Southern food and culture. Gena shares her modern take on the region’s culinary specialties.
Says Gena,

“I want home cooks to read my book and feel as though they shared the same culinary experiences that I did as a child, like riding through the fields to check on crops with my father or making homemade biscuits alongside my mother in the kitchen.”

I love that!

(Gena, the author)

Sounds very similar to the way I grew up.  We didn’t ride through the fields, but walked through my parent’s garden plenty of times, freshly picked veggies at the ready.

With a contemporary spin on Southern cooking, Gena’s recipes rely on fresh, seasonal ingredients to make them work with little trouble. And guess what?  We have ONE cookbook to give away to one of my readers.  If you’d like a chance at this beautiful hardback cookbook, just leave a comment telling me your favorite dish to make for your family.

That’s it!  I’ll leave the giveaway open until Sunday evening and choose a winner then.

    How do you choose just one recipe? I have favorites for holidays, weekends & weekdays. If I must choose it would be breads – that’s not really choosing a recipe but at least a category!

    I like to make homemade waffles or pancakes and other breakfast type foods. Also like to bake but my “meal” making skills are seriously lacking. Hoping to learn a lot more this year!

    Its tough to pick just one, but I love to make big pots of homemade soup. But roast chicken is a close second.

    My family enjoys having home made chicken enchiladas and every once in a while I will make home made chicken noodle soup.. make the noodles, de bone the chicken, simmer for all day and whoola.. I dont make it often as it can be time consuming but boy oh boy its worth while when I do.. Part of my “bucket list” for the new year is to become a better cook for the family

    My favorite dish to make for my family is Sweet Potato casserole. Any time that my family gets together, I get begged to make it. Of course, I always oblige. Other than that, I like to make potato salad too. Everyone usually begs me for my recipes for each of these two dishes but always say that their’s never turns out like mine. LOL

    I married a southern boy and one dish that was a requirement to learn was Cocoa gravy and biscuits for breakfast. Our entire family loves it.

    I love to cook but my favorite thing to do is harvest fresh vegetables and make apple butter. Fresh Homemade Apple Butter and hot biscuits is so good….

    My favorite is a chilled rice sald with mandarin oranges passed down to me from my mom. That is a beautiful cover on the cookbook. I’m always searching for new recipes. I love to cook!

    I love to cook, so it’s hard to pick just one. When ever I take dinner to a friend’s house, it is usually King Ranch casserole. Yummy! My husband loves my baked artichoke dip and chicken tetrazzini is always a hit!
