Southern My Way Cookbook Giveaway

{Giveaway is Closed}

Raised in South Georgia’s farm country, cookbook author, Gena Knox has a long history with the land and Southern cooking.  Her newly released cookbook, Southern My Way: Simple Recipes, Fresh Flavor, features more than 250 pages of seasonal recipes (100+ recipes), streamlined for busy lives and accompanied by full-color photographs that portray a lifelong love affair with Southern food and culture. Gena shares her modern take on the region’s culinary specialties.
Says Gena,

“I want home cooks to read my book and feel as though they shared the same culinary experiences that I did as a child, like riding through the fields to check on crops with my father or making homemade biscuits alongside my mother in the kitchen.”

I love that!

(Gena, the author)

Sounds very similar to the way I grew up.  We didn’t ride through the fields, but walked through my parent’s garden plenty of times, freshly picked veggies at the ready.

With a contemporary spin on Southern cooking, Gena’s recipes rely on fresh, seasonal ingredients to make them work with little trouble. And guess what?  We have ONE cookbook to give away to one of my readers.  If you’d like a chance at this beautiful hardback cookbook, just leave a comment telling me your favorite dish to make for your family.

That’s it!  I’ll leave the giveaway open until Sunday evening and choose a winner then.

My family goes to the moon for homemade banana bread of all things, and I’m certainly happy to make it for them!

It would have to be Shepherd’s Pie…simple and easy with burger cooked with onion and mixed with canned tomato soup, green beans, mashed potatoes, all layered and sprinkled with cheese before popping into a 350 degree oven for 30 minutes. Not very gourmet, for sure, but always a hit. Best as leftovers.

I love to cook all sorts of things. I really don’t have a favorite. I especially like to fix all types of soups and homemade sourdough bread in the the winter time. I would love to win the cookbook.

Breakfast for Dinner!!! I have young children and they LOVE all the breakfast foods…eggs, pancakes, biscuits, turkey sausage/bacon, french toast, etc…So that is what we love to do once a week! We never have time for a big breakfast in the morning so the evening works best. My husband and I laugh that when we ask our children where they’d like to go eat (if we are eating out) they say Waffle House! Gotta Love Kids

I love to cook and I like to try anything new. Guess my signature dish would be chicken roll ups……cream cheese and chives rolled in a breast with breaded panko crumbs and wrapped with bacon.
    Great giveaway!

I don’t cook much, but maybe a new cookbook would provide some encouragement.

My favorite thing to make for my family is pot roast. My guys choose it for Thanksgiving instead of turkey. Makes it easy for me. I do love southern cookbooks.

My family loves a hash that I make and have been making for about 30 yrs. Simple, made with burger, diced potato, shredded carrot, onion & green pepper. Comfort food, for sure.

Well, if you are from the south it has to have something fried! Fried pork chops and baked sweet potatoes with collards and of course a big skillet of cornbread, heaven on earth! and oh if you are still hungry – peach cobbler for dessert.

Pork Roast, fresh corn, green beans with bacon, mashed potatoes and gravy. It’s a meal my mother in law would make many Sunday’s for the family. She has since passed so I try and keep her traditions going.

Living in Queensland Australia we love to BBQ. I think in many cultures it’s the kind of meal that brings all kinds of friends and family together. Our absolute favourite BBQ dishes are Gozleme (Turkish Dish) or BBQ Ribs with Bourbon Sauce………B:) x
