Today, I’m sharing some sparkle and shine from my dining room table that I set up for Christmas. I love adding pretty things to my sideboard during this time of year and I’m having my girlfriends over again this year, so it’s fun to celebrate and have the house looking pretty this time of year. I’ve always been a big fan of Christmas and everything that goes with it and love decking my halls for this season. This week will be a big one with lots of home tours in blogland, but again this year I don’t want to get caught up in the perfection of it all. Celebrating Christmas is all about the real meaning and sharing this time with our family and friends, so let’s all keep that in mind as we move into the next few weeks of festivities.
It is a joy this year to have my front porch all finished AND painted. You might remember that last year I had garland hanging out here, but it was still in its unfinished stage and not nearly as pretty as it is now. I stopped by Lowes and picked up a fresh wreath and one of their cedar garlands for hanging of the greens at my house this year. I love real garland and it adds so much to a home at Christmas. A welcome canopy for guests coming in the home. I actually wrapped 2 kinds of real garlands together, the cedar from Lowes and a pine one from the grocery store.
I used a clear suction cup holder to hang the wreath from my glass storm door and love how it looks. Lowes has some beautiful real wreaths for a very good price, this one was $14.99. I added the green bow that was in my stash. Love that pop of color against my turquoise door.
I got out my old tablecloth, which is just an inexpensive round one in cream with pretty fringe that I asked my mom to sew on for me ages ago. It adds something extra to a plain tablecloth.
The sideboard is always fun to decorate during the Holiday season and I moved in my mercury glass and silver collection this year. I love to just pile it up and let it sparkle, adding in a few fresh cut greens from the yard.
I just pulled out my white dishes and gold accents and had fun with it, simple and elegant.
Gold placemats and chargers add an elegant touch.
Sparkly ornaments atop the silver candle holder.
These cute white deer head ornaments also came from Lowes and I couldn’t resist them for this Holiday season and they make a great place setting accent with a little fresh greenery underneath.
I used a tiered stand to add more ornaments and baubles, all sparkly and shiny. Tucked with a few fresh greens, that’s an easy centerpiece to put together.
Another look at the place setting. I’ve had the gold placemats for a long time and the chargers were a recent yardsale find. Napkins I’ve had forever too.
Peeking into the living room at the pretty tree from the dining room.
Love this cone with faux berries and fresh greens hanging from the corner cabinet. It always makes me happy.
Here’s a peek at the sideboard and that beautiful Have Yourself a Merry little Christmas, which came from sweet friend, Tara at Between You and Me. She has a great Etsy shop with some wonderful inspirational signs. I absolutely love the statement it makes in my dining room this year.
Another Lowes deer head ornament found its way to my Christmas mantel. I had so much fun with the mantel this year with the newly planked back. I’ll be sharing lots more of the mantel and more the rest of the week of all my Christmas cheer.
I also picked up this sparkly pinecone garland at Lowes too. They have some pretty things to use during the Christmas season. The gold garland I picked up in Nashville while I was antiquing last week. It’s vintage and so sparkly, I love it. Great mix with the glittery pinecones. Takes me back to my childhood.
Stay tuned to the rest of the week and I’ll be sharing my whole house all decked out. I do dearly love this time of year and I’m going to enjoy the next few weeks to the hilt with my family and friends. Merry Christmas!

Very nice, Rhoda. I love reading your blog & admiring the lovely pictures of your home. You have given me numerous ideas to use in my own home. I especially like your dining room with the beautiful sideboard.
Your decorating is beautiful, I’m SO behind this year and a party coming up on Saturday. Seeing your post, I think I need to move my buffet (sideboard) back into my dining room, it looks like yours and too pretty to hide. It’s currently in my master bedroom, “the room where all good furniture goes to die.”
May I make one suggestion? One or two rings on you curtains should be on the other side of the wall bracket. It makes a better look and doesn’t add as much emphasis to the bracket beyond the curtain.
Merry Christmas
