Ilove it when a publisher contacts me about doing a review on a decorating book.  I was recently given the opportunity to receive a copy of the book, Speed Decorating, by pro-stager Jill Vegas and the chance to give away a copy to one of my readers.

So, of course I said a BIG FAT….YES!

It’s full of glossy color pics that I think you’ll really enjoy and Jill focuses on a Speed Decorating Questionnaire evualating the following questions:

  • What are the primary functions of the space?
  • How does the room look?
  • Is everything working?
  • Does the room feel comfy and inviting:

She suggests getting started by answering these questions and gives a lot of practical tips for arriving at a room of your dreams.  I think the book is concise with some well thought out advice that all decorators could take advantage of, even if you don’t have natural skills and talents in this area.

Jill covers all of the following areas in detail with lots of pics:

Entry

Living Room

Kitchen

Dining Room

Bedroom

Bath

Curb Appeal

So, if you’d live to win a copy of this book, just leave a comment here and tell us which room you’d focus on if you were going to do some speed decorating?

Giveaway ends on Friday evening at 6 pm Central time.

Where to start?? I have a beautiful blue on my living room walls and lots of brown accents to contrast, but for the last 3 years that it has been painted, it just didn’t feel right to me. I would LOVE some tips! Thanks for the giveaway opportunity!

I would focus on our living room. We moved in with my mom and she is so set on leaving everything where it was and it doesnt work for a family of 5 so I could use the book as a guide (and an excuse) for changing things around to actually function properly. Plus I would enjoy the book! karen…

I would focus on my master bedroom. It needs new linens and to be painted. I love how your friend’s room turned out. She did an awesome job!

i have already read the book from cover to cover (a` la my local library) and it is so great! would love to win it for my own collection. i’d probably do my bedroom because i spend so much time in there…sadly, it seems like a catch-all for all the clutter of the house. NOT a peaceful environment for sleeping if you ask me. this southern belle thinks your blog rocks!

Sounds like a great book I’d LOVE to have! We’ve been at our new house for 18 months and I still have two problems areas – our front yard and our Master Bedroom.

Thanks for this great giveaway Rhoda – you always come through for us! 🙂

Thanks for this opportunity – and for your fantastic blog!

The laundry room and family room. The laundry room doesn’t function well and the family room is full of yard sale stuff I love, but there isn’t any cohesiveness about it in comparison to the rest of the house.

I guess I’d work on the main bathroom. It’s the last of the rooms in this house to be redone.

Living room…been wanting to make it into a quiet sitting area/library.

Now that we have all the electronics moved downstairs; it’s a great possibility! I can start dreaming & putting ideas together. 🙂

    Thanks for the entry!!!

I would choose the living room because I think it would make my roomies in NYC so happy to come home to an inviting space 🙂 Our walls and floors may be crooked, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be cute!

My foucs is on my home “office.” I am currently stuffed into a corner of our teeny den (aka spare bedroom.) Books, papers and office supplies are scattered everywhere – face it – it’s a total mess.
