Speed Decorating Book Review & Giveaway

Ilove it when a publisher contacts me about doing a review on a decorating book.  I was recently given the opportunity to receive a copy of the book, Speed Decorating, by pro-stager Jill Vegas and the chance to give away a copy to one of my readers.

So, of course I said a BIG FAT….YES!

It’s full of glossy color pics that I think you’ll really enjoy and Jill focuses on a Speed Decorating Questionnaire evualating the following questions:

  • What are the primary functions of the space?
  • How does the room look?
  • Is everything working?
  • Does the room feel comfy and inviting:

She suggests getting started by answering these questions and gives a lot of practical tips for arriving at a room of your dreams.  I think the book is concise with some well thought out advice that all decorators could take advantage of, even if you don’t have natural skills and talents in this area.

Jill covers all of the following areas in detail with lots of pics:

Entry

Living Room

Kitchen

Dining Room

Bedroom

Bath

Curb Appeal

So, if you’d live to win a copy of this book, just leave a comment here and tell us which room you’d focus on if you were going to do some speed decorating?

Giveaway ends on Friday evening at 6 pm Central time.

Definitely my living room which I’ve turned into a mess right now. It needs some decorating help!

I have several rooms that need a little something but I think the kitchen would be most helpful.

This looks like a great book and exactly what I need! My husband and I are in the process of deciding on a new design for our master bedroom and this book seems like it has great ideas for changing things up a bit. Thanks for all your wonderful, helpful tips!

    definitely the living room.
Although I need to address the kitchen/dining room/living room all at once as they are all open to it.
Wanna come to Missouri Rhoda??? I’ll feed you and you can advise me.

My guest bathroom. It is currented “naked” because I’ve stripped the wallpaper and patched sheetrock until I am blue in the face.
I’ve scrapped the popcorn off the ceiling (I’d like to meet whoever invented that face to face), removed the upper cabinets and that lovely “faux” piece of wood, and soon to start tearing up the floor tile. All with no real “plan” in place as to what I am going to replace it with.

Wow! I would LOVE to win this book. I could use it in every room, but I think my family room is my biggest challenge.

Hope I win! (Got my fingers & toes crossed!)

It would have to be our home office. It’s a small room
that needs lots of help and little money. The one room
    I’ve done nothing with.

I’d focus on my bedroom! We’ve lived here five years and the master bedroom and bath are not even close to comfy and cozy!

I’d work on my kitchen. It’s stuck in the 70’s. Argh!

I could use this book for my entire house. Seems like every room could use some tweaking. Hope I win, I really need it.

I would focus on my family room, which needs help right now. I’m renovating my kitchen but I fear it will make the family room (which is a great room set-up) look bad in comparison. I would love this book.

I would love to apply these principles to my living room. It is an irregular shape and I always feel it needs just a little bit more to make it all come together. This book looks like it would help with the “little bit more” part!!

    Thanks Rhoda!

I would love help with my family room although the entire house needs help.

    Happy Thursday!
