Hi, friends! We celebrated Mom’s 92nd birthday on Monday, May 4th, although it was a low key celebration on their carport, eating outside. We brought Willy’s takeout and are still trying to keep our distance from them as much as we can to stay safe. Mom enjoys Mexican. It’s not Dad’s favorite, but it was mom’s birthday so she got something she wanted.
They are doing fine and we are very happy that we still have them both. We bought Dad 10 tomato plants and were going to get them planted for him, but once we got them over there, he insisted on doing it himself, so I imagine the next time we go over there, they will be in the ground and growing. He wasn’t up to planting the garden this year and mom isn’t either. They both have gone strong in their 80’s and had more stamina than I do many times, so it’s no wonder they are slowing down in their 90’s. They are a blessing for sure!

Your momma is so precious and I know you treasure them both. Glad you made them both happy, Mexican for your momma and tomatoes for your dad💕💕💕
Yes, the Birthday Queen always gets to decide on her meal! Your parents are so amazing, and I always enjoy your stories about them. A dear friend’s elderly mother told me “the key to aging well is do everything for yourself; don’t let anyone help you if possible!”. So I am not surprised your dear daddy wanted to plant his own tomatoes.
Roxanne, you are so right! He’s as stubborn as they come and will not give in, so we just said OK, go on and do it. And I’m sure he did. We just had to get the tomato plants to him. And he complained because we bought them at Home Depot and he wouldn’t have paid that much!
Birthday Blessings to you pretty Momma. EnJOY reading about her, she inspires me with her dedication to her faith in Jesus, love to her husband, daughters and their families. She stays busy and productive at her age now, that is so good. Keep posting those happy moments you are getting to share with them. Helps those of us that do not have our parents any longer.
HI, Karen, I’m so happy to share them and I’m glad it makes you all feel good too.
Wishing your mom a belated birthday. You are so very fortunate to have such wonderful parents and who for the most part do very well. They seem to stay pretty active and get around pretty good. I know they enjoy having lunch with you and your sister. In today’s world we see some elderly people who are not as lucky as your parents, they don’t have visitors or people who see to their needs. You and your sister have been good to your parents and I am sure they appreciate all that you do.
Thank you, Betty, they have been so good to us and so we do the same for them. They are loving parents and we are blessed to have them.
Rhoda,
Belated Birthday wishes to your precious Momma on her 94th! Yes, these are crazy times right now and its so hard visiting family and not being able to share a hug or kiss but we have to protect everyone and that comes first. I am glad both your Dad & Mom are doing well and staying safe.
Your Spring tablescape was so beautiful and I have always admired those pair of faux bamboo gold lamps. If I ever see them in HomeGoods again I am going to snatch them up in a hurry. Once in a while, I will some more higher end ticket items in HG. Several years ago, I found a real mohair lumbar pillow that retails for much more in upscale shops. Never have seen another one since so I am glad I bought it. Stay safe!
Thank you, Teresa, Homegoods is amazing and I’m so glad I found those lamps!
Your family is so blessed to still have your parents, what a gift! So, happy for your family that you could still celebrate and make her feel special!
