Help!! How did you hang your round foyer mirror??? We built our home three years ago and for three years I’ve been trying to figure out how to hang a round mirror over the wainscoting in the foyer. My wall is navy blue above the wainscoting which is 2 1/4 in. deep. I’m at a loss as to how to hang a heavy mirror and not damage the wall.
Thank you!
HI, Joan, I just used a nail to hang this small mirror, but you should be able to use a wall hanger that will hold up a heavier mirror. Take a look and make sure you get one that matches the weight of your mirror, there are a lot of hangers out there that should work. Mine has a wire across the back so you might have to extend a wire so it has room to skim over the wainscot. Mine doesn’t stick out but about 1″.
Is your magnolia real? If not, where did you get it?
HI, Fran, it is real.
We just bought a house built in 1977. I have been reading all your old blog posts for about the past 8 hours, many apply to this house, such as the rustic mantel. We have very pale oak stair railings (ugly) and I am electrified by your post from 2008 showing Minwax stain and poly in one step! Our railings are pretty varnished. Did this hold up? Was it really that easy? I am thinking if I have to, I could use a No-Sand type product on the varnish.
I am from Louisiana and love traditional stylish homes like yours. Now, I am in middle Idaho with a big 3 story pseudo-Spanish style house and I am just going crazy trying to do things I can do without spending hundreds of hours on each project. Thanks for any and all input on this.
Hi Nancy, That railing project was one I did over 10 years ago. It did hold up while I was in that house, but I probably would do a different method now if I was painting my railing. I’d probably sand and prime them to get the best result, so I hope that helps. Thanks for stopping by!
Oh I wanted to stain it a darker wood. Painting might be good. I’ll have to work on it and see. Thank you so much.
