Summer Blues and Greens

Hey friends!

We had a rainy day to start the week of what is traditionally the beginning of summer, but I’m looking forward to sunny days again.  Today, I’m joining 36 other bloggers (our hostess is Jennifer from Town N Country Living)  for a Summer Color tour of our homes and we are all sharing our favorite summer colors.  I can tell you that blues are heavy hitter colors for summer and that seems to be the most favorite for everyone.  I’m using a mix of blues and greens on our new summer deck that I shared last week.  I call it the Treehouse!

Welcome if you are new!  I hope you’ll look around and subscribe if you like what you see!  My husband, Mark, and I have been in our new house less than a year and are working on one space at a time to make it ours and we are having so much fun.

If you’re coming by from Danielle from Finding Silver Pennies, welcome!  I know you enjoyed her beautiful coastal summer tour.

For this Summer Color tour, I did set the table looking forward to eating outdoors a lot more this year.  We’ve already been out there a couple of times dining at the table.  I will tell you the truth, we have had so much rain, I barely had a chance to get this space spruced up and looking pretty, so I went very simple. The table is not over the top decorated, but I just used what I’ve had on hand for this simple colorful tablescape.

As I mentioned, the rain has been frequent since I got this space all decorated and it’s been a challenge to keep it dry and ready to use.  But we sure are enjoying it so far!  Holly loves it too and has been up here every single day.

I love using melamine on the porch and all of this is plastic. I grabbed some textured straw placemats, with a colorful green and white Williams Sonoma runner I found ages ago at a yardsale, along with green yardsale napkins.  The blue plates I’ve had a long time too as well as the green glasses.  It’s all plastic, so nothing precious out here!  Simple and easy is my mantra at this stage of life!

Having a table and chairs is so nice to use and I know we’ll be enjoying this space so much this year.  We love the seating area with the umbrella and the table has a hole in the middle in case I want to move the umbrella there, but honestly this deck only gets about 4 hours of direct sun, the rest of the day  is pretty shady, so that’s an extra bonus.

Summer Blues and Greens

We have a big beautiful bursting with blooms hydrangea that came with the house, so that makes me a very happy girl!  There’s nothing not to love about blooming hydrangeas, truly my favorite flower.  I had some gorgeous hydrangeas at my old house and I was sad to leave them behind, but now I don’t have to be blueeeee, ha!

So naturally all I had to do was cut some blooms for the middle of the table.

It’s a cozy comfy space and mostly weather proof since all of this is outdoor materials.  If you want to know more about the furniture and accessories, you can visit my deck post from last week.

It’s really the little things in life that make things so enjoyable, so I try not to stress too much and do simple settings.  I love a beautiful table setting as much as anyone and do those often inside the house, but outdoors, sometimes simple is better and certainly easier, which I am more into these days.

I’ve had this garden urn for years too and love it filled with fresh hydrangeas.

Simple colors of blue and green.

I got this black bamboo flatware last year for Christmas and it’s perfect for the porch and outdoor entertaining.  Here’s a link to a similar set of bamboo flatware to mine, great price (affiliate link). And here’s another from Wayfair.

You can bet we’ll be out here a lot this year, that is if it will ever stop raining every day!

Rain makes for gorgeous hydrangeas though, so I’m really happy about that.  Hope you’re ready for a fun and colorful summer yourself!  There’s something special about the beginning of June and the promise of Summer ahead.  Let’s make the most of this one!

What color says Summer to you?

Stop on by and visit my friend, Laura, at Duke Manor Farm next. She has a gorgeous home in the country right here in suburban Atlanta and it’s a treat to see!
