Sweet Potato Fries!

My Dad absolutely LOVES sweet potatoes and since he loves them so much, he also grows them.  And we’re not talking wimpy little potatoes, I mean, they’re HUGE!  And just because they are huge doesn’t mean they aren’t sweet and tasty.  They are.   The huge ones are great for baking up with a little butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon.  IMG_7982

But the smaller ones are perfect for slicing up for home fries in the oven.  Scrub well, slice them up in strips, drizzle a little olive oil on top. IMG_7983

And add our favorite Cajun seasoning, Tony Chachere’s, a staple in my kitchen cabinet.  Do you love this stuff?

Bake at 400* for at least 45-50 minutes and they will come out nice and crisp, perfect with a little ketchup on the side.

Try them and see if you don’t agree!

Adding this to Jen’s Tasty Tuesday party.

Some of you  may have missed the Pretty Knobs post below, since it did not get published as it should have in your feed readers for Monday.  So, scroll down if you missed it! I’m tiling away this week. 🙂

I love sweet potato fries but haven’t tried to make them at home (except frozen). Thanks for posting; can’t wait to try this!

(We love Tony Chachere’s Creole seasoning too.)

The sweet potato fries sound incredible, will definitely put them on my “must make” list. I’m not familiar with the creole seasoning but will look for it tomorrow while at the grocery store.

    Thanks for sharing this!

I love sweet potatoe fries! Have you tried the ones from New Orleans Food and Spirits in Vestavia? I always have to order the sweet potatoe fries when I eat there.

I do love Tony Chachere’s. I haven’t tried it on sweet potatoes before, but I think I’ve eaten it on pretty much every other meat, microwave dinner, & vegetable!

I first discovered sweet potato fries at a little cafe on the Northside of Chicago. Heartland Cafe. They served them with a marinara sauce. Whenever I make them I always season them with an Italian seasoning mix and serve them with marinara. Try it, you just might like it!

oh yes…we love Tony’s creole spices. And I have a funny story…at the time, we could not find it in our home town. We went to visit family in San Antonio, TX and I bought some there. When we packed to leave, I just put 2 of them in my carry on luggage and when it went through the x-ray machine, they pulled me and my bag. Apparently, it looked like a bomb or maybe bomb making substance. …haha…..
