This ole’ blog of mine sure has evolved since I started it and I’m not even sure how many original readers I still have now. I don’t think all that many who started with me are still reading, but so many of you have joined in along the way and I’m SO grateful for YOU, YOU, and YOU! If you have been reading my blog from the beginning, I’d love to hear about it.
Y’all make this so much fun for me and I’d love to hear from YOU today. I’ve often wondered who all is reading. You lurkers are a mysterious bunch and don’t come out very often. Unless I’m having a giveaway. 🙂 Then, you come out of the woodwork.
So, today is all about YOU! Tell me as much as you want to share, I’d love to know at least what state you live in, how old you are and what you do, if you work out of the home or are a stay at home mom/wife. If you don’t mind sharing. I just think this will be so much fun and instead of me talking, YOU can do the talking today.
OK, who’s first! Come on, don’t be shy, tell me about yourself. We’re all friends here and I would love to know more about my wonderful readers.
And if you have a question for me too, ask away! I’ve got plenty to share from my trip to Atlanta this weekend, but thought this would be fun to do while I get some pics sorted, so I’ll get to that a little later.
Oh, and I just have to throw this in….hello my name is Rhoda, not RhoNda, as many of you think it is! 🙂 I have to laugh, because I’ve been called Rhonda all my life and usually had to correct my teachers the first day of school. I will be 53 in December.
I am of “legal age” with 3 children, 2 stepsons, and 14 grandkids. I was born & raised in Tulsa, OK and live in OKC area now. I have been reading your site for several years now. I was probably an early reader and ordered items from your “store.”
Hi Rhoda,
I found your blog about a year and a half ago and I just love it! I’m 53 years old and I live in Los Angeles. I have always loved scouring through thrift stores and antique stores and decorating my home. Your blog gives me so much inspiration. I check the blog everyday and I feel like I’m stopping by for coffee with a good girlfriend. Your eye is great and your house is beautiful. Thanks for sharing so much of yourself with us.
Hi Rhoda, I live in NC. I am 42 and work at a Financial Services Company. I am a subscriber (through Google Reader). I really love your tutorials.
Hi, Rhoda,
I live in VA (outside of DC), I’m a stay-at-home mom to two, and an educator by trade. I love to cook, decorate, and feather our nest. I love your blog… I started reading about a year ago. Love it. Thanks for sharing all that you do.
Maureen
I have loved reading all the comments…so fun to see where everyone is from! I have been lurking for around two months but you are the first blog I visit each morning to get my “Southern fix.” I am a 49 year old SAHM from Scottsdale, AZ. I have been married to my hubby for 23 years and we have three wonderful kids, 21, 16 and 14. I used to teach people how to brush their teeth (I was a dental hygienist) and now I teach my kids (the two younger ones, the older has graduated). I also care for my Mom, who has advanced Alzheimers. Rhoda, I do enjoy your beautiful blog and the many wonderful ideas and tips you so kindly share. Thank you for sharing and helping us “decorating challenged” gals…Your Sis in Christ, Donna
Hey Rhoda, I am from Greensboro, NC and I love reading your blog. You have given me some great ideas and inspired me to refinish some old pieces of furniture for my daughter’s apartment. I have several other things that I want to do when I have the time. I am 55 years old. I was a stay at home Mom until I went to work as a preschool teacher 16 years ago. I lost my preschool job last spring, but am now working as a Nanny for one of my former parents. I love my new job. I have 2 daughters. (26 and almost 21) One is married and the other one is a junior in college. I am not thrilled about being an “empty nester”, but I am making the most of it. I love to bake and I especially love sweets. I enjoy quilting, knitting, making cards, scrapbooking and my Bible study group. I love flea markets and thrifting. I have tried my hand at almost every kind of craft. I am a cancer survivor (6 years) and I praise God every day for my many blessings!! God is good. Love & blessings from NC!
Hi Rhoda, I am a lurker. I am from Melbourne Australia. I am 51. I work full time as an accountant and am a single mum to 2 teenage daughters. Reading blogs is much more fun than watching TV 🙂 Thanks for sharing.
Hi! I am a lurker/subscriber as well. I am 33, live in NH and I am married, no children and work in marketing/sales.
I enjoy your blog and your ideas!
Hi Rhoda,
I discovered you thru an online search for ‘Lynette Jennings’ ~ 1 year ago. I so related to your comments about her style, that I hooked up with your website. I’m 48; similar to you I worked corporate, now able to live my passion. Am design consultant in a furniture/accessory store. Enjoy your life!
Hi Rhoda!
I just love your blog and think you are such an awesome woman! I was actually surprised at how fast you responded to my email the time I wrote you and truly appreciated your response!
My name is Melissa and I am 27 years old. I lice in Sacile, Italy until March 2012! It is about a 45 minute train ride to Venice. I am away from home ( South Carolina) because my husband is in the United States Air Force. I will always be a southern gal no matter where in the world I am placed! I am a stay-at-home mama to an adorable sweet almost 4 month old boy, Kyler! It is tough getting a job on this base due to a contract with the Italians unless I want to bag groceries so I stay at home but I must say it is by far the best job I have ever had in my life! I also have a awesome little dog, Bailey who will always be my first “child!”
I am also happy to announce that I am taking the baby to the States in 2 weeks for 2 whole months and I can’t wait to eat, shop and spend time with family! Hopefully even check out some flea markets and go to holiday craft shows!
Your blog is fabulous and I enjoy checking it out when I can!
Hi Rhoda,
I found you about a year and a half ago and still read you although I’ve slowed down quite a bit on my blogging. Don’t really know why cause I enjoy it so much!
I am one of your Mississippi neighbors and I give you and your blog credit for helping me ‘reinvent’ myself after retiring from 34 years of teaching 2nd grade!
I have started going to yard sales and ‘reinventing’ things found treasures!
In fact, my friend and I are on the list to have a booth at an antique/flea market place near my home. And I’m helping stock my son’s antique mall booth. I’m having a blast-not making a whole lot of money-but getting lots of satisfaction!
I’m 58 and would LOVE to meet you sometime! You have a great blog and it is one of the links I always click on!
Hi RHODA!
My name is Diana. I have lived in SC for the last eighteen months(MS before, most of my life), having remarried.
I have been able to stay at home since the move & enjoy making my surroundings “ours”!
I read your blog 1st thing receiving email notice.
Always interesting, informative, & fun!
I don’t have a blog & just discovered what a blog is about 2 months ago.
Thanks & keep the articles coming!
Hi Rhoda, I read your blog every day and love it; you’ve inspired me to start painting and redecorating my home (again). I’ve painted and wallpapered my office cabinets (rescued when our kitchen was redone) with beadboard wallpaper; that was so successful that I’m considering covering old wood paneling in my family room with another style of paintable wallpaper.
Oh yes, about me, I’m from the Upper South but have lived in the Mountain West for many years. I’m 63 and retired; retirement gives me the time to follow my passions – photography, gardening, digital scrapbooking and greeting card design. Books are another love; I have at least 15 books waiting to be read, but who has the time? I have five, soon to be 6, grandbabies but since they range in age from 17 to 2 not all want to be known as babies.
My home is usually covered in dog hair with 3 dogs and 1 cat, but what would life be without them. Life is good…thank you for your inspiration.
Oh my goodness! Look at the response here. I’ll add my $.02 even if you don’t have an extra week of your life to read all of these :). I’m 35 years old, live in Harrisburg, PA, and I’m a stay-at-home-mom. I worked as a counselor for 10 yrs before becoming a SAHM and I occasionally teach as an adjunct professor at Messiah College, my alma mater. I’ve been paid to do some decorating in homes that have been “flipped” in my neighborhood and I’ve LOVED it! I’m passionate about creating beauty out of chaos and making sweet memories out of holiday celebrations. I find sooooo much inspiration from YOU! Thank you!
Hi there,
I am the Central Texas Jaybird. I am about to celebrate the 24th anniversary of my 39th birthday :^) I raised 3 kidlets mostly on my own, and then much later married a great guy with 4 kids. He is a bit older than I, so we now have kids, in-law kids, grands, in-law grands and GREATgrands!! Now how could you have much more fun????
I work as a PR person for an international corporation, and I am minister of music for an Evangelical church. I am house crazy and love your decorating ideas. I wish I were as ambitious as you!
Thank you so much for being a bright spot in my day!
Hey Rhoda,
I am Sonya and live in the western area outside of Birmingham. My age is 47 and I have been retired for the last three years. Now, I get to spend a little of my getting to go out and find those “treasures.” But, most of my time goes to my two precious grandchildren. It’s always fun on one of those treasure trips to find them like new clothes, toys, books, etc.
Just want to say that you are a blessing. Your “blog” shows all women that you don’t have to spend a lot to redecorate your home or expand your closet! It’s not just your “blog,” but your Christian witness to others through this site.
May God continue to bless you…..
Hi Rhoda (not Rhonda!),
I’m Lisa and I live in Port Angeles, Washington. I’m 50 and work full time from home as a handbag/accessories designer/manufacturer. I’ve been reading your blog (and, yes, lurking), for about 6 months. I’m not sure how I stumbled upon you, but I love seeing your projects and yard sale finds.
I live in a 1934 bungalow that I’ve been slowly redecorating on a tight budget and I really appreciate and enjoy seeing and reading about your ideas on thrifty decorating.
Hi Rhoda,
Greetings from Jackson, MS. I am a certified lurker/challenged decorater who discovered your blog about 2 years ago when I was lurking on the HGTV decorating message boards. It was the first decorating blog I had ever seen and boy was I impressed. It opened up a whole new world for me. I am in my mid 50’s and I work full time at a college. I am married and have two teen age sons at home so my lurking is limited but your blog is always the first one I go to. I hope your holidays are blessed.
Marlee
Greetings from Northeast Texas! We’ve communicated so much about ourselves to each other already, I wasn’t sure if I should ‘join in’ or not!
I’m 48, married for over 26 years and have 3 wonderful grown step-children and 6 absolutely ‘perfect’:) grand-babies! Hoping we’ll meet in person one day since my in-laws are in your neck of the woods,.
Still very thankful you met and had lunch with my very special Father-in-law!
Blessings today and always,
Kaye

Hello!
I’m a professional writer who has lived most of her life in the far West (CA, OR, WA) but I woke up about ten years ago and realized all my best girlfriends grew up in the south. My favorite magazine was Southern Accents. Sometimes I think I was meant to be a Southern girl; I have loved vacationing in Savannah, Charleston, and New Orleans. I love your blog, especially the tutorials and all the photos. You make good design seem possible for a do-it-yourselfer. Thanks for sharing your talent with us.
