Thrifting!

Last weekend, Mr. Goodwill Hunting, Rashon, was in town for a thrifting event at B & R Thriftstore in Sandy Springs.  I stopped by for awhile to check it out and see Rashon again.  He has recently announced the 2012 I Love Thrifting event for next year, which I plan to be a part of again.  We had a lot of fun at this year’s I Love Thrifting event, so you will want to get it on it next year.  Put July 7th on your calendar!

blue white lamps

So, while I was there, I had to look around to see some thrifty possibilities.  This pair of blue and white lamps are pretty sweet.

shells lamp

Here’s another lamp all set for the coastal look, filled with shells.

thriftstore lamps

Three more possibilities, all of these could easily be changed up with color.

Ralph Lauren comforter

One shopper was looking at comforters and I pointed out this Ralph Lauren king for a mere $12.50.  It was in great shape with a small tear on one corner that could easily be fixed. She snapped it up!

down pillows

I also spotted these 2 like-new down pillows for $8 something each.  She snapped those up too.

thrifty chairs

In the furniture section, these small wingbacks just need some new fabric to be brought back to life.  Can you envision it?

chair legs

Take off this dowdy skirt and they would be very modern with the right fabric.

thriftstore pink chairs

This pink pair also has a nice shape and recovering them would work as well.  I don’t remember how much they all were, but I think less than $40 each.

TV cabinet

A fresh coat of paint on this TV cabinet would definitely spruce it up.

LLBean sweater

I found one thing for myself, this pretty yellow/green LL Bean sweater for $3.50.  Snap!

Mr. Goodwill Hunting

Rashon held a fashion show that day, using only thriftstore clothes and they were having a blast.

A makeshift runway in the store brought out all the models.

I Love Thrifting T

Rashon has new I Love Thrifting T-shirts available in all new colors this year.

Dayka Erika

I met up again with Dayka and Erika, the two ladies behind Room Service Atlanta. They are great girls to know!

Erika_kids

Erika brought along her 3 adorable children.

Rashon Rhoda

Fun time and great to see Mr. Goodwill Hunting again.  He’s been all over the Nate Berkus show this year and I’m very happy for his success.

Sadly, I just read today that the Nate Berkus show has been cancelled and the last shows will air next May.  I’m so sorry to hear this, as I have really enjoyed Nate’s show so much and he has given more blogger love than anyone on TV these days.

Here’s to 2012 and lots more thrifting!

I see lots of possibilities for redesign there. I love the dress that model has on. I always love picking up fab finds at the thrift store.

Don’t you just love thrift shopping. I love finding treasures to bring back to life. My most recent find was a brand new leather jacket for $19.25. Thanks for sharing your shopping trip and I will look forward to seeing how the lamps evolve.

This looked like a fun event. Rashon is wonderful and I enjoy watching him on the Nate Berkus Show. Sorry to hear Nate’s show is cancelled. Nate was great when he was on Oprah’s show. His producers should have let Nate do what he does best…design. Instead there were segments on beauty for women; what are women carrying in their purse, etc. Nate was at his best when he discussed interior design and I hope he’ll be given another chance to shine again soon.

Looks like so much fun! Rashon is so fun! I saw him first on the Nate Show and and started then following his blog. I can’t believe Nate is cancelled! 🙁 Boo!

I can’t believe Nate has been cancelled. That’s the only day time show I watch faithfully. I guess I’d better record and save the last episodes.

Yay, I’m so glad to hear you are going to do thrifting day again. It was so much fun.
When I see chairs like those pink ones, I really want to learn to reupholster. And I love to find those good-label clothes at such great prices- looks like you had a great day. 🙂

It looks like you had a great time, I wish I lived closer and could have been there. I am so sad The Nate Show is cancelled. I started recording it after you visited his show. I really enjoy watching it and would love to see him on another show. I will keep my fingers crossed.
