Vintage Style Blue Ball Jars!

First things first!  I’m on my way to the beach today, heading down to Panama City beach with 2 of my girlfriends for a few days.  Oh, how I  love the beach and can’t wait to hang out in the sun and sand and enjoy that beautiful turquoise water again.  Of course, I’ll take lots of pics and share when I get back!

In the meantime, I’ll share something fun with you today that I just received.

I never know what’s coming through my email on any given day.  I recently got an email from a company telling me they wanted to send me a case of blue Ball canning jars to do something with, so of course I said yes! I happen to have a few of the real vintage ones in my collection and I was happy to hear that they are making these again as a special collection.  We are all in love with blue Ball jars, aren’t we?

Collector edition blue Ball jars

This year Ball is excited to introduce a limited-edition, vintage-inspired jar, the Ball Heritage Collection Jar. Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the Ball brothers’ Perfect Mason Jar, a first-of-its-kind blending of jars, lids and bands, the Ball Heritage Collection Pint Jars feature a pretty blue tint and embossed logos on the front and back.   You can find them at the link above and they are only available for a limited time.

I couldn’t resist adding some of my fresh flowers from the photo shoot in them and seeing how they sparkle and shine. The blue tint is so pretty!

Blue Ball jars

Embossed as always with the Ball logo, they are perfect blue pints.  My mother is a canner, so I’ve been so used to seeing Ball canning jars around our house for as long as I can remember.  These blue ones are just fun to have.

I’m happy to have them in my decorating stash and even though they will never be used for canning, there are lots of things to do with them.  Vases for one, drinking glasses for another.  I can definitely see these out on the porch this year!

I received this case of jars for free, but wasn’t compensated for writing about it and wanted to share this info with all of you.

They really are beautiful. It’s such a shame that the shipping is almost as much as the jars! I may have to rethink if I want these now. They are really nice though!!!

Hey Rhoda, those jars make me sigh. They are such a beautiful blue and I must admit, I’m a bit of a jar fan. I’ll have to see if I can track some down under in Australia as shipping over here may be a bit on the expensive side! They look even more spectacular with your home-grown flowers in. I have loved blue jars for years. When I graduated from high school almost forty years ago, I asked my uncle for some of his blue jar collection as my graduation gift. I still have them and still love them. (Have fun in Panama City. Be sure to pick up some of the beautiful tiny seashells. They are great inside of clear glass ornaments from Hobby Lobby with a little sand and pretty ribbons tied on them.)

Perfect timing! My daughter and I are planning a sweet 16 surprise party for two of her friends and we are decorating vintage-style. The blue jars will make perfect drinking glasses!!! Thanks. I enjoy reading your post every day when I get to work – it’s a great way to start the day!

Wow! I’ve ordered mine. These are so much more reliable than the old versions with cracks or other potential problems. They will look great in my blue and yellow country kitchen.
    Thanks!

Your jars are so pretty with the magazine shoot flowers!
I’m wondering…are they same blue as the old ones? They look brighter to me.
Enjoy your time at the beach!!

Diane, they probably are a little brighter just because they are new.

Fellow blogger, Leslie, at Gwen Moss, has a way to make your own vintage jars!!

I don’t know what the price difference is between Bell’s blue jars and the make-your-own version, but this might be worth a look.

    Cheers, and enjoy the beach!!

Happy 100th anniversary to Ball Canning Jars! One of my favorite estate sale finds has been three old blue Ball jars, each filled with vintage sea glass. I paid one dollar per jar!!

Another favorite use… fill jars half way with Epsom salts and top with a lighted votive candle. Make summer drinks, add fruit slices, screw on the covers and arrange on shaved ice. Drinks are cold and ready when you need them. I like to use attractive straws rather than drink from the jar.

Sorry… these are TWO separate suggestions… one for a candle and one for summer drinks. Please do not add Epsom salts to summer drinks, lol.

Thanks for the info on these blue jars. I just ordered 2 sets from their website, and yes paid the shipping!! I like the Kmart offer better, but will be looking for more at different stores. I did call Jardin (mgf of the jars, 800-240-3340) and she said they are in WalMart, Publix, Ace, Food Lion at diff times and places. It would help to look locally and grab them while you can since they will be very popular once the word is really getting out, ie., these blogs!!

I saw these the other day and went to the site, but the shipping was outrageous in my opinion. Maybe someone locally will get some soon, ’cause they are pretty special!

Now I see locations listed in Karan’s comment. I’ll check these sites. Thanks!

They look great with the flowers. I am such a vintage and antique lover and so hate reproductions. I will always search for the vintage stuff; love the character of the old, well made stuff that is still going strong.
Reproductions are always cheaply made in China of course, and will be filling our land fills since none of that “stuff” last.
    Ok, I admit — I am a vintage snob :))
