As mentioned, I spent a few days in Port St. Joe last week with my friend, Vicki. Longtime friends, we graduated from high school together and she is like another sister to me. Faithful friends are a blessing indeed and Vicki is one of those to me.Port St. Joe sits on the Gulf coats of Florida and is a sleepy beach town compared to Destin and Panama City. It has some beautiful unspoiled beaches and plenty of peace and quiet. Also part of the scenery is their beautiful marina, with plenty of boats docked ready for fishing.A lovely marina for sure. We had some nice weather and took advantage by going on a couple of boat outings and fishing expeditions.Vicki and I trying to get a pic together. Pretty and serene. A really nice marina. It was a beautiful morning for a boat ride.As well as a little fishing, something I’ve only done a few times.Ready to go! It was cool enough that a jacket was needed.Vicki enjoying the morning too.Clear sparkling water was the view of the day, as well as those sandy white beaches.I got to do a little of this. And caught a few of these, which I’ll tell you about later.Saw some pretty sights. And thoroughly enjoyed the day.In the evening, we drove out to the end of the peninsula to see the sun set. There is nothing better than a beach sunset. The light was perfect and the beach awe-inspiring. Ahh, pure bliss indeed. We watched as the sun dipped below the horizon, slow at first and then faster. The Gulfcoast beaches are remarkable. Their sweet dog, Dixie, had fun out on the beach too.I spotted a few beach cottages that caught my eye.Like this multi-hued beauty. I’ll take one please. There goes the sun, down for another day.Sunset on the beach, truly one of the prettiest sights in God’s creation.
I love the beach, don’t you?! If you’ve never visited Florida’s Gulf coast, you are missing out. I’ve got lots more to share from Port St. Joe, as well as Destin. We ate lots of seafood and did some thrifting too. I’ll be helping Vicki with a few home projects too, so can’t wait to share those.

I agree….there is nothing as spectacular as a beach at sunset. Lots that come close…but really…wow!
Glad you had a great time. Your smile as you hold the fish is wonderful. Good to see you enjoying yourself.

Fabulous sunset pictures, Rhoda. I’m off to Florida (East Coast) next week. We hope to make it down to the Keys, which I’ve never visited before, while I am there.

We love to go shelling there…..lots of lettered olive shells…

Hi, Andrea, yes we were near the St. Park when the sunset pics were taken. I didn’t look for many shells this trip, cause I have a bunch already, but I did find a few Cat’s paws on Mexico Beach one day. I remember seeing Cape San Blas signs, but can’t remember where it was. I know it’s part of the area too. Such a beautiful little beach town it is! Glad you are going there too. We also went to Appalachicola & saw St. George Island, which I’ll be sharing later too. Lots of pretty sights down there.

Cape San Blas is where the State Park is. It is the Peninsula that is in front of PSJ and actually is on the gulf. Port St. Joe doesn’t have an actual beach as it is a bay.

Beautiful beach pictures Rhoda, thanks for sharing! Winter came back to northeast Ohio today so I’m enjoying your post and pretending I’m there instead of here!

We were in Destin about a week ago. It was my first time, it was wonderful. We loved the sunsets, the beach and relaxing. We will go again! I thought there were some really cute houses there, reminded me of Key West.

LOVE that kind of beach! We always search out the least populated, least commercialized beaches we can find. We are partial to some of the islands near Charleston. Destin is a little bit too populated/built up for us, but it is pretty.
Did you happen to see Cote de Texas post on the house on Daufuskie Island? I have see that exit and had to do some investigating after Joni posted. You have to get to the island by ferry or boat. I’m thinking hubby and I NEED to visit there for a little trip. Next year’s our 30th anniversary – so might be in order!
Thanks for sharing your pics – the fishing looked fun!

Hi Rhoda –
We have vacationed on the Fl. Gulf Coast for over 30 years! We have stayed in many areas but our favorite is Anna Maria Island near Bradenton. We love Destin, Clearwater, Sarasota, etc. but always return to AMI. Love your pictures of the beach … we’re going in June!

My mother is from St.Joe we spent MANY summers and holidays there and Mexico Beach. Growing up we used to go over to St. George’s Island but to get there you had to take the ferry. Some many great memories. Love your pictures – so beautiful.

Rhoda, that looks like just the peaceful trip you’ve probably needed after the hustle of moving…we have moved several times and I know, it wipes you out! So glad you got to visit with Vicky, sounds like a blast..I have never been to the Florida Gulf beaches, definitely on this California girl’s bucket list!
