The mountains of NC are some of my favorite sights to see and it’s a thrill each time I visit. Waynesville is equally beautiful, matching any of the mountain views I’ve experienced before. A small town feel, rolling hills and trickling streams, it’s a wonderful weekend getaway.
This was our view on the way to the cottage. Pretty horses grazing in the field.
A homemade event sign.
Not exactly a little cottage, this stately home sits on a small pond with a trickling stream in the front yard.
These horses have it made.
These don’t have it bad either.
Spotted a local truck.
As we passed this stately gate, we couldn’t help but notice some furry adorable goats on the other side.
So we stopped for some photos. They all ran over to the fence to greet us and we snapped away.
Aren’t they pretty?
Goats have such fascinating faces.
Character filled expressions.
The babies are my fave!
Mr. Llama came bounding up the hill to see what was going on.
Such pretty faces.
Spotted babies
Beautiful creatures, all of them.
This one must be Billy, he was the biggest and I guess that makes him a ram.
Heading to the cottage on a winding road, this little garage was all decked out for Christmas still.
Nothing like the sparkling mountain streams in NC.
Just love them, water falling over the rocks. I did my share of wading in these NC mountain streams growing up.
Beautiful
The Cottage is so pretty and ready for guests.
Love this blue door.
We had a couple of amazing sunrises, with wispy clouds and fog.
And enjoyed a soak in this hot tub, stars hanging low.
A great girl’s getaway spot. Hope you enjoyed hanging out with us in the cottage and thrifting. I’ve still got some thrifting posts to share from our weekend in NC.
I’m very excited to announce that I will be speaking at SNAP, the brand new creative crafting conference, that will be in April near Salt Lake City, Utah. There will be so many bloggers there that I’ll be excited to meet and I’m honored to be a part of it. If you are out in that part of the country, I’d encourage you to try to go. It is sure to be a creative event that you’ll really enjoy being a part of. You can read all about it at the SNAP conference site. They will have a few ticket giveaways going on too, so be sure and read up at the SNAP site, as well as blog.
This is my very first live in person speaking engagement for a blog conference and I am thrilled to be there. I am happy to support this new conference and it will get me ready for our own Southeastern DIY/Home conference, Haven 2012, here in Atlanta, that I’m heading up in June of this year. Talk about pressure! We are working hard to have a fun and inspiring conference as well and I hope to see you there!
CONGRATULATIONS! How exciting – I can’t wait to hear all about the event! Good Luck.
And thank you for the great photos – I LOVE NC… I have been all over the world and yes, that area is one of the best examples of “God’s Country”
Thank you for sharing – have a great weekend.
Beautiful – is it near Asheville. My girls go to camp down there and that would be a great escape for mom! Love the goats – when we were in Spain, we spotted them on the side of the road as we traveled up into the hill towns. Of course we got out to check them out and take their pics too! Hope you have a great time at your conferences!

How fun seeing photos of where I live, kind of, lol! Looks like you were up on Plott Creek, which is where the nicest and most expensive homes are in Waynesville, mostly belonging to people not from here, but there is also beautiful, local culture to be found as well. Glad you enjoyed your visit!! Congratulations on the conference!
Oh, what lovely photos. I felt like I was driving around the countryside with you. When I was a girl, my brother and I raised goats, and belonged to a local 4-H club. We raised mostly French Alpines (ears stand up), but we had one little buff-colored Anglo-Nubian (ears hang down). You are so right about character aand personality. Those goats were constantly entertaining us. And providing us with delicious milk.
Beautiful scenery and I love the goats. Congrats on the conference. You will be Great!
Fabulous pics. It seems there a lot of goat lovers around. Including me. Congrats on your speaking engagement. You will be awesome. Could be the start of a whole new chapter for you.
Love the pictures – thanks for sharing!
Such beautiful photography. Looks like you took your time to “smell the roses” (I mean, goats 🙂 You will be a wonderful speaker and I wish it was just a little further west…perhaps soon?
Love the photos, thanks for sharing! Congratulations on the speaking engagments, I know you will do great.
So beautiful! All of those little animals are so sweet!

What beautiful country! I love your sunset photos, really amazing. Thanks for sharing your trip with us.
My inlaws have a goat farm in Canton and I am always taking photos of the cute little creatures. The babies are absolutely precious too!
HHi Rhoda, I too love Waynesville, my most favorite place to shop is Affairs od the Heart which is right on Main Street, darling owner and darling shop, good place for thriving, she carries vintage and new goodies. I also want to sincerely apologize for the delay in sending my thanks for the Biltmore catalog-mu hubby hurt his knee right before the holidays and things for a little crazy round here. I love the Biltmore products myself but not sure at this time if I can devote all the effort that this venture might need. I just love the beginning kit, especially the acorns. I love your blog, I am not a blogger but your blog is so real to me,
I love the real world and the hope you share to all. Thanks again and I just know you will be a great speaker and successful in this next journey od your life. Blessings, Phyllis in Florida
I enjoyed everything in this post! Loved all the scenery, the venue, LOVED the goats and the llama!!! Congratulations on your speaking engagement. Love your blog.
Rhoda,
What a beautiful place! I adore the sweet baby spotted goats. 🙂 I am excited to hear you will be a guest speaker at another conference. You are really getting around!
Your Friend,
Deborah
Beautiful photos of serene, peaceful countryside ! I love the goats too – they have so much personality ! Those ‘sideways’ eyes always freaked me out a little bit though !!
Beautiful. Oh and the goats and horses are cute also. Did you ride? 🙂
That all looks very familiar to me! We have some land near Waynesville and love spending time there. The streams…or creeks are all so beautiful! I lived up there right next to one for a few years and loved it. I even learned to fly fish! ♥
