It was a fun weekend of yardsales and hitting the Birmingham Flea Market. As I mentioned, the flea market was a let-down, but we all managed to bring home a few goodies, especially me, since I started at a big neighborhood yardsale first. Glad I went ahead and bought. I have wanted a little CD/clock radio for my downstairs guestroom so I can listen to praise music in there when I feel like it and I found this almost brand new one for $5. Exactly what I wanted and it works perfect too! You never know about electronics, but I usually take their word for it that things work and they usually do. Tried out a little Kenny Loggins on it. 🙂
Since I’m a sucker for bamboo things, I couldn’t pass up this cute little shelf for $4. I’m not sure where it’s going yet, still mulling that over.
Cute caning detail.
Aqua and ceramic planters, I love both so this was a shoe-in at $1 and it’s not small either.
An adorable little black and white shell box was $1.
Cute little green bottle was 10 cents. I can see a clipped flower in here sitting in my window sill.
Can you believe I found another large soup tureen, this one for $2? It was a good day for me. So, then it was time to head to the flea market. We all met up for some browsing and stayed here quite a while…..
Checking out all the jewelry and stones. I love turquoise and pretty stones.
These necklaces were already strung and just needed the clasps added. I bought a lime green set that Sandi is fixing for me, both necklace and bracelet for $9. I’ll show you that later when I get it back. There really wasn’t that much at this flea market that was really interesting to me, but we did find a seller who had some great vintage things. Found out he also sells at Scott’s Antiques in Atlanta once a month. I can see why. He had the best space here!
Lots of vintage furniture pieces.
A chippy garden piece that I loved.
This old cabinet was really pretty.
Vintage armoire.
And some old chippy gliders.
So, that’s my haul for the week, mostly from the yardsale. The granite is in process, house is torn up from moving everything out of the cabinets. Ran into a little problem with the backsplash. Where I thought there would be a gap between the back of the granite and the existing backsplash, the bottom of the tile backsplash will actually have to be trimmed off about 1/4” or so to allow the granite to slide into place. Didn’t see that one coming, so that’s an extra $350 I wasn’t planning to spend. 🙁 Oh well, that’s the way projects go, have you noticed that? Everything won’t be completed until Friday and then we’ll be busy with Mother’s Day weekend, so it will be next week before I can get that kitchen all cleaned up and take pics to show you, but I promise I will as soon as I can. I’m looking forward to the finish line!
Do you realize how dependent we are on our sinks? I have found that out this week.
Don’t forget our Garden Party tomorrow! I hope you’ll all come back and share what’s going on in YOUR yard. It finally stopped raining long enough for me to take some decent pics (and then started another downpour), so I have some pretty blooms to show you. I don’t want to party alone!
Added to Leigh’s Tales of Bloggeritaville Thrifty Thursday post.
Rhoda,
I have not one soup tureen and you have found another one. I guess, I either need to come to you and yard sale with you. Or have you come to Knoxville and yard sale with me.
Love all your finds.
Cynthia
Oh Rhoda, I sure do miss you girl. The most favorite Yard sale I ever remember is with you and Rhonda in Raleigh and that wonderful bookcase we got for such a great deal. Rhoda, can’t wait to see you hopefully soon. We will be only 2 hours away from you in Columbus, MS as soon as mid June. Take care and I’ll shoot you an email when we arrive in MS.
Oh how I love a good flea market. Loved that red dresser. You got some cute finds.
Hi Rhoda, Looks like you did very well at the yard sales. Great buys. I especially like the soup tureen and the ceramic planter for $1…wow!
Have a happy day
Kris
Rhoda, you continue to amaze me with your finds at yard sales…and the prices! I love when you do these kinds of posts.
There is an award for you on my blog!
Rhoda, would you consider doing a post on how to shop a yard/garage sale. Do you barter? How do you find them? How do you decide which ones to visit? What is the best time of day to go? Do you ever go the day before even if they are not open for business? Will you share your secrets? (if you have already written such a post, forgive me for asking…as you know I am relatively new to the blog world).
You got some great deals. I have only stopped at one sale so far this Spring.

Sorry your having a countertop issue – but as you say, that’s the way it goes sometimes!
Cute little black and white box! Well I’ve lots of roses blooming but it’s rainy stormy constantly so everything is drooping!
Have a good week!
Manuela

I know about the rain…we finally dried out yesterday, but the sun has been sporadic at best today.
By the way, come on over to enter a giveaway that ends today! It’s a sweet birdie tassel!
What awesome finds! I love the white tureen! And guess what? You inspired me to go to garage sales too. lol Hopefully, I’ll find some good things this weeek. I’m taking my mother in law with me so she can have a relaxing day. 🙂
Happy Tuesday.

What great finds! LOVE that little green bottle and lovely soup tureen. Aren’t those neighborhood slaes THE best? My neighborhood is having our annual one this SAt. I REALLY need to be participating, but I just could NOT stand to be able to SHOP my own neighborhood! I would LOVE to go thrifting with y’all some time, if you ever go back to the flea market or find snother one. I’m even willing to drive from Mississippi. I think it would be soooooo much fun to get together!

Oh I sense some wonderful transformation will soon occur to your terrific treasures.
Okay, I so need that aqua planter on my front porch!! I bought one the other day and realized it’s a little more turquoise than aqua like the pillow I have. Oh well. It only cost $1.50, but it’s not nearly as cute as yours and probably not as big either! Great find!
cant wait to see your necklace! I know it is beautiful!
Great garagse sale finds. I will post mine on Thursday for thrifty thusday, i invite you to play along, if you want.
you got some nice things…we have to wait for the rains to stop here before the garage sales start up again..hopefully soon
Great finds Rhonda! I am thrilled to see the garage sale signs finally popping up here! I can’t wait to see what you do with your new items!
