Those Thrifty Finds

Wow, thank you ALL for showing up for the giveaway. Ya’ll sure wanted you some pretty glasses and I can’t say that I blame you. I’m so glad you enjoyed My Sparrow and took a look around, some beautiful things in her shop, for sure.   So, now for the giveaway winner:   Megan with Cottage Bluebird is our winner! Megan, please email me and send me your mailing address and I’ll pass your info on to Christina, so you can get those beautiful tumblers.

It wasn’t a terribly exciting yardsale weekend, but I found a few useful things, like these green acrylic glasses for 25 cents each.  I think they match that pitcher I found recently too.

IMG_6205

Always on the lookout for good books, this is one I haven’t read by one of my fave authors.  I may save it for our beach trip that’s coming up in September.  There’s nothing better than sitting on the beach reading a good book. We decided to wait til school starts and take our beach trip later this year.

And I love to find workout clothes in great condition for cheap.  These 3 Nike workout tops were $1 each, much better than paying even TJ Maxx prices and these are all in near perfect condition. I will put them to good use very soon. IMG_6209And last for this week, an Eddie Bauer denim skirt for $3.  I have a few Eddie Bauer pieces and they are very well made and great quality.  Just my size too.  They all got washed in the washing machine as soon as I got home and then into my closet.

So, that’s it for me this week.  Oh, and remember that Sid Dickens tile I found a couple weeks ago for $3??  Sold it on Ebay for $147, quite a turn around, don’t you think?

I’ll have a few more posts this week and then we are heading up to my parent’s house in NC for a few days.  Eating veggies and visiting.  I hear tell we are having a fish fry with homemade ice cream one day.  Yippee! :)

How about YOU?  Did you get out and about this weekend and find any treasures.  You know the drill!

So, get ready to share your treasures too.  Remember our guidelines for Mr. Linky parties:

  1. Enter your permalink to your thrifty post and NOT just your blog url.  If you aren’t sure how to do that, please refer back to last week’s party. All links that do not go to your party post will be deleted.
  2. Please add a link back to THIS post, so that all your readers can find the party and join in or at least read about all the fun that everyone else had, or I’ll have to delete those too.
  3. If you come back & your link is deleted, it’s because your link was incorrect (and I couldn’t identify it) OR you didn’t link back to this party. Please try again!

  1. Hi, Rhoda! Thanks for hosting. :)

I really like your green acrylic glasses. I have the hardest time saving a book for vacation. I can do it, but it takes some real self control. :) The denim skirt is adorable. I love wearing those in the Fall. Good finds!

Mine were all unexpected this weekend…wasn’t planning on hitting any yard sales, but…well, you’ll see if you have a chance to read my link this week. :)

  2. I will go back and put your permalink on my sidebar. thanks for being our hostess..I know some of us…are a pain.

  3. Hey Ms. Rhoda. I’m #7 I guess I’m moving on up the list there. :-) Love your finds today. You always find the best stuff.

  4. Well, what happened it? It was showing me at #7. Hmmm

  5. There you go getting those great bargains on clothes again.
    Thanks for hosting again.

  6. Great finds, this week, Rhoda. I really like Eddie Bauer and shop the outlet at the lake, every now and then.

I enjoy reading John Grisham. Haven’t read this one, though.

I did a little recap for thrifty things this week. Still thrifty, just not “new”!
Your trip to your folks sounds lovely.

  7. Hi Rhoda,
Looks like you found some great deals … as always! I like acrylic glasses too (always on the lookout for fun colors and shapes while thrifting). They’re so much safer than taking glass ones outside & risking breakage on hard surfaces, As you know, they’re perfect for use on patios, in pools, hot tubs, etc.

Loved your “Grandma Eleanor” slipcover post. She’s remarkable!

Thank you for hosting. It’s always fun to be a guest at your wonderful parties!

    Bill

  8. Rhoda, I loved your Grandma Eleanor post and can’t wait to see the end result. She’s a cutie. My MIL is 91 and doing pretty well (nice legs, too!). We love the beach in October – no crowds and no sweating! Thanks for hosting and for always posting early! Linda

  9. great finds!! and congratulations on the sid dickens tile. that is just amazing!

  10. Rhoda, You made out like a bandit selling that tile for $147!!! Woo Hoo…. Pays to have a good eye and some background knowledge!
Looks like a good book you found there. I like Grisham, but haven’t read this one. As usual, you found cute clothing! I’m looking forward to seeing what Grandma Eleanor does to finish up your chair. It’s terrific that she is as spry and mentally alert as she is. Your hubs has some good genes, there…. :-)
    Sue

  11. Rhoda, my daughter loves Grishom! She just found a book on tape at Goodwill “The Steet Lawyer” which she’s really enjoying!

I used to love th Eddie Bauer store we had at the mall. But it closed several years ago.

    Thanks for hosting!

    Manuela

  12. WOO HOO!!!

  13. The thought of a fish fry makes me happy :) You’re going to have such a good time!

  14. Hi Rhoda,
So you workout! Good on ye! I only buy the workout clothes and then my plans to go and be active are somewhere lost in good intentions. Ah well, more time to blog.
I did enter my post somewhere when I was number 12 but it doesn’t show up! Anything I should be doing differently?

  15. Love the glasses!!!!!!!!!

  16. Wow! Love your eBay success story! That EB skirt is so cute–no picture of you in it? I wish I was going to the beach next month–I have several books that would be perfect.
Thanks, Rhoda, for being such a gracious hostess every week…
    S in TX

  17. I’m glad you were able to find a few things! I didn’t make it to any g-sales, but did go to the flea market in the cattle barns in Ft. Worth today. I bought a vintage sewing machine drawer ($4…I normally see them from $15-$25) and a couple of wooden apples for .50 each…nothing exciting enough to blog about though. ha

  18. Love all of your wonderful finds. Your workout clothes and skirt are really cute. Great buys. Hugs, Marty

  19. Well Rhoda, I won’t link because I am bad about keeping up my blog anymore. My 17 year old step daughter moved in with us earlier this summer. Poor kid hardly had any clothes so I have been scouring garage sales. Well, last Thursday I hit pay dirt! At one garage sale, I bought 37 name brand (Gap, Old Navy, Abercrombie, Eddie Bauer) shirts and sweaters for her. I paid just $46 for items that mainly were brand new with the tags still on. (The lady told me she had a shopping problem.) I felt sorry for her, but I sure did score for my step-daughter!!!

  20. looks like you found some great stuff this week!

  21. wow Rhoda you got some great finds didn’t ya just!

those workout tops are a fortune and I seem to go through them so quickly with walking everyday

happy thrifting, loved the video of your slipcover, the sweetest old doll you ever did see

    S

  22. Cute goblets! And good find on the clothes.
For some reason I never check out clothes at yard sales. I think maybe I should start!

  23. Wow!!! What a nice profit you made on that tile! Good job.
    Rhonda

  24. Hi Rhoda
I am a thrifty girl at heart too and I always intend to join and today I finally did! Better late than never they say.
    Hugs, Rhondi

  25. Maybe not the biggest day but those will still be useful!

  26. So did the exercise lady just give up? I don’t think I have seen exercise bras in a GS before.
My friend said she was going to Joe’s. I asked her to stare at the floor in a moment of silence for me then have some of Mama’s desserts.

  27. The Appeal is a great book – hope you like it!

  28. HI Rhoda,
Thanks for hosting this jazzy party!
I also love Grisham novels. I have a few I haven’t read and I’m saving them for colder weather. Those days when you just want to curl up on the couch with a warm and comfy blanket and spend the day reading.

  29. Hi Rhoda!
I have been wanting to join in the fun here on your blog. I enjoy reading your posts and all your thrift store finds!! When I was a little girl…my mom and aunts had a code name for Thrift store shopping…”the micky”. I think it had something to do with not wanting other’s to know where they shopped and found all their great deals!! Ha! LOL! Today it’s the thrill of the hunt for that perfect find!! Hugs!!

  30. I’m so glad I found your blog! I just love garage sales and Goodwill, I feel that there is always something special waiting for us out there. I have to tell you that I fell in love with the door wreath posted on your “Meet Rhoda” tab. I might have to “borrow” that idea, I will be sure to mention you as my inspiration though. Thank you for your wonderful blog!

  31. Ooooooo! Lucky number 77!!
Thanks for hosting this party! It’s so much fun to see everyone’s finds.

  32. Love those running bras! Great deals, Rhoda! I’m not sure if I got a good deal or not on my find Saturday!! Let me know what you think!

    Hugs!
    Susan

  33. Great deals on those sports tops….and that re-sale of the book – Wowie ! I am going to keep my eyes open for things like that !
    Kammy

  34. I just cant get over your Grandma, your slip covers, and that tile you make a song with! You are one busy lil Momma! Good to hear y’all are going to spend some family time and that icecream sounds good! I wanted to go hit a few garage sales in true Rhoda fashion but was too busy on that playhouse {cottage..studio}…it so needs a name. Anyway , go check out my floors if you get a chance. Layla gave me the idea to do the checker board…..sweet!

  35. Great finds…love the skirt!
And thanks for the tip the other day on the stain. It will be this weekend’s project!

  36. Thanks for hosting the Thrifty Treasures! I love seeing what everyone finds!

  37. Quite a turn around indeed! How exciting – looks like you bought some useful stuff this week, that skirt is so pretty :)

  38. Don’t know why people didn’t have great sales this weekend – weather nice and no holiday but it was really a pitiful few sales.

  39. Rhoda,
My first week posting thrifty treasures! I’ve been reading your blog for ages so it’s about time! Great treasures this week. I don’t have much luck with thrift stores in my area (lots of unusable junk) but maybe one of these days I’ll start hitting some yard sales. You are an inspiration to many, including me!
    Blessings,
    Linda

  40. Rhoda,
Thank you for hosting this fun weekly event! You found some terrific workout clothes, very cute tops! Love that denim skirt, it looks like a Liz Claiborne one I wear.
    Cathy

  41. Just love that denim skirt!!! For $3… Wow! Great find!

  42. Hi Rhoda,

I love your Thrifty finds Mondays! I linked up today and even did your lamp shade tutorial and linked that back here too. It was so easy I just loved doing it! Now I need help with what to do next for the lamps though. any tips would be great, I put my website directly back to the the actual post.

    Thanks,
    Miriam

  43. Hi Rhoda, you’ll have to check out my finds if you have time:) All day long I kept thinking, “hmm, now what would Rhoda do with this??!!” Hilarious. Keep up the great ideas!!

    Cara

    Hi Rhoda,
Thanks so much for coming by my beach house chic dining room. It was so much fun to do.
I always have a hard time waking up early on week day mornings to walk with my neighbors, but come Saturday mornings, I’m up at 7 a.m., fresh as a daisy ready to hit the garage sales. … hmmmm…. Great finds for you this weekend and good for you for using Ebay to make a little greeen!

  45. Thanks for hosting. Love the glasses and the skirt. Sooo cute! Awesome sale on the tiles. Congrats!

  46. I have read or listened to every one of Grishams books, I truly enjoyed them all and I don’t like to be a spoil-sport, but The Appeal was my least favorite -and if I say more it will give away the ending.

I do like your denim skirt – what a deal.

  47. Love the skirt and glasses! Great finds, Rhoda! Quick decorating question. I have a small side table I want to paint black. Do you prefer spray paint or just painting it with a brush? What have you found that works best?

  48. I love the green glasses and congrats on the nice sale too!!

The sports bras were a fab deal as well!

  49. I added mine! I hope it works! Love your blog!

  50. I think we were friends in another life. I always take a John Grisham book to the river every summer.
