A Stroll Through Historic Savannah

I’ve been to Savannah many times over the years and many of those visits were before I started blogging, so today I’m going to share a walking tour along some of the beautiful 22 squares of Savannah. Savannah is full of rich history and one of the most important in Georgia’s storied past. I was last there 10 years ago with a group of blogger girls and we stayed on Tybee Island. Here’s a post from that trip, highlighting Savannah and what all we did then. It was a lot of fun! And if you want to see more of Savannah, check out Part 2 of that trip.

We did a walking tour this time with Lisa at Hip to Be Square in Savannah. She did a great job sharing some of the history of the squares we walked through. It was an hour long, so it was limited in time, but I’m sharing more of Savannah as I walked around there a few times during my stay.

Savannah is definitely a walking friendly town in the historic district and you can walk and walk and still not see everything.

I won’t try to narrate everything, but enjoy the beautiful architecture.

Lady and Sons Restaurant is still there, Paula Deen’s restaurant. I went there 10 years ago.

Had to take a look inside the Paris Market again, it’s always fun to browse this shop.

The Davenport House.

The Kehoe House, which is where my cousin, Brenda, got married in 1994.

It’s beautiful!

The Juliette Gordon Low house. I toured here back in the 90’s.

John Wesley statue.

The Old Pink House, which was a wonderful dining spot.

I had to get out to Forsyth Park again just to see it.

It’s a beauty!

Isn’t Savannah just beautiful?! It’s always a fun place to visit, with the charm and history of the town. I hope you enjoyed this tour again.

Does Savannah get the flooding during hurricanes other southern cities get?

HI, Nancee, I’m not sure, but I would think it could with a direct hit.

Savannah is one of my very favorite places! I love that you can walk almost everywhere and take in the sights. The beautiful huge trees, foliage and ivy growing on the gorgeous fences and stairs, the houses, the fountains. I love it all! We were there a few months ago and did a bus tour for the first time. I learned history about many of the places I had admired in the past. It’s a great place!
