A few weeks ago, I did a post all about the beauty of wallpaper and how it seems to be coming back around again. Some of you agreed with me and thought it might be a fun idea to use again and some of you definitely were not ready to break out the wallpaper one more time. The scars of removing it were too fresh and raw for some of you and I totally understand that. I’ve been there too.
So, how about an accent wall of wallpaper? Could you go for that?
When I see images like these, with one wall used as an accent with a beautiful wallpaper, it makes my heart skip a little beat. 
Look at how rich this damask looks behind that classic sofa. Gorgeous, it is!
And this graphic gray and aqua just makes you smile. It’s not so over-powering on one wall.

And this fresh and green classic beauty really grabs my attention. I love everything about this pic.
And check out what blog buddy, Amanda, did with a $1 roll of yardsale wallpaper in her laundry room. How cute is this?
So, what on earth do I have in mind? Well, I just happen to have an accent wall in my office nook that I do believe could use a dose of fun wallpaper and I’m about to give it a whirl myself. You saw it a couple of years ago when I painted the wall green (Behr’s Grasscloth) and added some rope trim.
And as of now, the other walls will get a green paint treatment to further complement the new splash of wallpaper, maybe a little lighter shade than Grasscloth, that is to be determined. I think it’s going to be very fun!
Here’s the beautiful green Cotswold Graham Brown paper, which happens to come from my Open Sky shop right here. Just in case any of you would like to join me on this wallpaper accent wall journey. Come on, you know you want to! At $60 per roll, it’s not cheap, but I look at it as wall art. One that will make a big impact. The paper looked different in person than I thought it looks online. What I thought was white background is actually a pearly/silvery tone, which is still quite pretty. It’s going to be dramatic.

You’ll be the first to see how it turns out. I haven’t started yet, but I’m gearing up for it. This paper is not prepasted, but I’ve already bought the tub of wallpaper paste to get this done.
Another project I’ve got in mind is copying those Ballard shelves you see in the above pic of my office space. I’ve seen a few other bloggers making those and since I have the real ones to look at, I’m going to tackle that too and replace the smaller shelves I have in the dining room with some big monsters like these. Just think of how many more white dishes I can put on wider shelves?
I will paint them white and get the brackets from Home Depot. I’ve already scouted out the wood I will need and it will be a very cost effective project to make 4 of them myself and I’ll let the guys at the store do the cutting for me. So, that’s another project to add to the list! Ha! Just when I think I’m running out of things to do, my whirling brain comes up with another one.
So, who’s on board for an accent wallpaper wall? Anyone?? Tell me how you feel about it.

It is interesting how trends change. I can remember reading that it was wrong years ago to wallpaper only one wall. My parents did an accent wall in a bedroom my sister and shared in the 70’s. It was large flowers in pink and mauve. Worked well in the small room. They only did one wall due the cost of paper, lol.

I would so love to jump on board but unfortunately we are renting right now:( I just did a post about some wallpaper that I fell in love with in a hotel bathroom. I loved that room with the silver and blue paper.
Oh, Rhoda, this is so tempting. I have an accent wall in my livingroom wallpapered with this terrible tiny flower print that I would love to change. I’ve been thinking I’d just rip it down & paint but now you’ve got me itching to replace the paper? Hmmm…what to do, what to do? Heading over to your shop to look around.

I love wallpaper, too, but I’ve just spent 7 months taking it off all the walls of my c,1964 house. I found flocked wallpaper under a fully mirrored wall that was beautiful (if not for the fuzziness). I’m papering a back hallway that went wrong with old wallpaper removal as we speak (break time). On Monday I plan to do a post on the transformation and you’ll be able to see that I was NOT afraid of pattern!
I love Candice Olsen of Divine Design and she almost always does a wallpaper accent wall. I think it’s definitely “on trend”!
I love all the new wallpapers that are available and was *this* close to doing an accent wall in our bedroom. But the paper we loved was priced out of our range for how much we’d need… ah well! Maybe in my next house! 😉

I think it’s a cute idea! I’ve been thinking of doing one wall in my master bedroom but can’t decide on the wallpaper! Should I choose one that’s the same color as the adjacent walls or something totally different – can’t decide.
Anyway, I think your office is going to be so cute with the wallpaper and I can’t wait to see it finished!

While I’m sorry to hear the Grasscloth is getting updated, Rhoda, I know that whatever you do will be beautiful. This is such a great area you have set up and I’m so glad you brought it front and center again. {Can you tell I’m totally jealous?} I have to revisit some of your office posts and absorb it all again! I do love the inspiration pictures, but I still think I’ll let others do the wallpaper. Now I’d frame a nice big piece of it, or use it instead of scrapbook paper or fabric on a magnetic memo board. That’s good enough for me. Plus, I’ll be getting my fix with a client I’m currently working with. She wants to do wallpaper in her powder room. : )
WOW! love that paper! Can NOT wait to see all you do with it! And my heart skipped a beat when I saw that Aqua & Grey room. Im re-doing my guest bedroom in Grey with sunny yellow accents. My inspiration fabric is a Grey and white damask from Duralee. *squee* so excited! and THANK YOU!! for the shout out on my laundry room. Im STILL tweeking in there. I cant stop!

I actually have been wanting to use wallpaper on the back on an armoire. This post might be just the push.

I have one room left with wallpaper, my den, and I love it. I just knew wallpaper wasn’t gone forever. I think we are avoiding using wallpaper because it seems so permanent…

Love the idea, Rhoda, but not feeling the paper idea right now. Like you said, fresh memories of wallpaper removal. Eeek! I have been thinking about stenciling a white wallpapery pattern on the already-golden walls in my hallway. It’s a small area so not much in the way of labor. Not much in the way of wallpaper though either now that I think about it…

I love the “new wallpaper” when I see it, but I’m just not sure about using it in my own home. The main thing is that the papers I like are pretty expensive and I can paint something for much cheaper. I would love to try a repeating pattern stencil that looks like wallpaper. Does that work? 🙂
Like the wallpaper accent walls…in someone else’s house. I believe I would tire of it, and I don’t want the burden of wallpaper removal. Think the piece you selected would look great w/ some silver/silverplate yardsale cast-offs for accents though.
I love wallpaper! I’m planning to paper our powder room — when I get my projects done in the kitchen & living/dining rooms, that is!! LOL!! That paper will look so pretty as an accent wall in your office, I know you’ll love it & I can’t wait to see how it turns out!

WOW a blast from the past when we first got married I did an accent wall in our kitchen…..with that type of shiny paper….I was into a more mordern theme…glass kitchen table etc….
See if you hang on to things long enough they come back….
