Camping in Destin a couple of weeks ago was a lot of fun. My sister and brother-in-law have had a camper for several years and this is the first time I’ve joined them on one of their trips.
They have a 5th wheel, which is a great way to camp. Tents are not my idea of fun, but I can definitely camp like this. With all the luxuries of home.
My sister even decorates the campsite, nothing is left out.
The dogs are kept in camp by this pretty black fence. They love going camping too! Lots of seating areas available for chilling out.
Lauren got them this light up palm tree a few years ago. I told them it’s like camping in Vegas. 🙂
This is my idea of roughing it.
Rocking chairs for sitting and reading.
That pull out sofa is where Lauren and I slept. It was cozy and comfy.
Adequate cooking area, they eat well when they are camping.
Bruce and Holly relaxing. Some of you mentioned his shoes! Aren’t they funny? The girls called them gorilla shoes, cause they look like that. Renee hates these shoes and he loves them .
Up 2 stairs is the master bedroom, fairly spacious too.Cozy too.
And the toilet. Nice to have this handy during camping, that’s for sure.
Me, chilling out too. It was a nice little getaway.
They stay in the Topsail Hill Preserve State Park, a beautiful camping area that is very popular. It was full when we were there.
There’s a tram available every hour that you can catch to go to the beach. Or it’s less than a mile to walk.
There’s that beautiful beach again. Never get tired of it.
This is one beautiful state park, if you are into camping too, check it out.
You’ll never get tired of this beach either.
Fun in the sun with the sand between our toes.
One night, we had a shrimp boil and it was SO good. Bruce, Steve (Susan’s hubby), and one of Bruce’s friends who stopped by, Shane.
This was my plate and I savored every single bite!
Do you ever go camping? What kind of camping do you enjoy? Are you like me and only like luxury camping like this or are you a tent dweller?
Tell me!

This is a beautiful 5th wheel Rhoda. Looks like ya’ll were having a wonderful time.
Our friends “winter” on the beach every year, in their 5th wheel, for about 4 months and love it.

We don’t have these large vehicles very much in Australia – not sure why? so we usually love to camp somewhere that has cabins. We do own a tent but sometimes I think it’s really more stress than fun so I’m with you on a little bit of luxury – looks like you had a fun time.

I would definitely have to camp like this. We most often head for the mountains and stay in a cabin. That works….don’t know if it qualifies as camping though. However, it seems that this camper has all of the comforts of home so I could handle that. And the beach????? Delightful!!

It looks like luxury and fun. I like camping the old fashion way. Not even at a camp ground. I love to rough it out, but not for too long!
Thanks for sharing

Looks like fun!
We upgraded from a tent to a pop-up 2 years ago, and we have a lot of fun. I have 3 little boys that think camping is the best thing ever. I have high hopes that one day my camping will involve a potty inside!

Love the set up outside. Makes me miss camping. Waiting for next year to snag a great used deal on a camper with the gas prices if we all can afford to camp then. Enjoying your site from Warner Robins, Ga.

Ok have to say I LOVE that he is wearing his Vibrams! My idea of camping is doing so sleeping in a camper/motorhome. I’ve done enough “sleep on the floor, chance being attacked by bears” type of camping to last me a lifetime.

I’m not much of a camper. I do like it though. I like this kind of camping though. 😉 Looks like a fun time! And all you ladies look pretty fancy for camping.

That is a nice camper! We do camp, and have a camper. We are going next month. However, we don’t like pulling on long distances and I have never wanted to camp at the beach. We have alot of the chairs and things and gas small appliances (grill, gas powered electric skillet, etc.) and you do eat good when camping. Everything tastes better! LOL Our little dog goes too – have never used a fence though. Might have to check into that. And I don’t decorate everything when camping. LOL

I loved getting to have lunch with you, Susan, Laurn and Renee. Wish one of us had remembered to take photos. How unlike both us us. I guess we were to busy eating and talking!
So glad you posted pics of how you had to “rough it”. lol. Very nice!
Hope you’ll come back soon.
Hugs,
Kat

Wow. That is one serious ‘camping’ mobile!! It’s like a luxury hotel on wheels.. what a lot of fun.
We totally are campers (traveling around Australia at the moment!) and love nothing more than taking off on a new adventure. We have a camper trailer at home, but are traveling in a caravan for this trip… 4 months so far! My van really is ‘roughing it’ compared to the 5th wheeler, but great for us with our two little girls.
Glad you had a great time.. it looks like it! Your beach photos are so pretty too..

We love Top Sail Hill Preserve. We rented a cabin there in 2009 for Spring Break. They are really nice and so much more family oriented than other places you can stay. The beach is like 3 miles of just beach, no trash or buildings and plenty of room for all.
In the next few years we want to camp at Florida state Parks aongl the way down to our final destination, the Keys.

Not a camper but I think I could manage in that 5th wheel. Looks very nice! Glad you had a great family time.
Your BIL’s shoes crack me up. I never saw any like that before….lol

Wishing the best for you and your is all this wild weather. Prayers go out to all those impacted.
Beautiful photos and wonderful memories for you. Wow – I have never seen a campsite so settled and decorated.
We are the sleeping bag on the ground or in the back of the pickup type of campers. Sitting around a campfire to cook, hiking, frisbee on the beach. I guess we are the tent-trash kind of campers.
To be honest I don’t have the comforts of home like that at home!
We are grateful for indoor plumbing.

I cannot believe how luxurious it is inside your motorhome!
Sandy says
Oh, yes, we have been camping (with tents when first married) and then worked our way up to RVing in various rigs…trailer, popup truck camper, motorhome A, Chinook (a van type) and for our first three years of retirement our beautiful comfortable 5th wheel travel trailer (we took it to Alaska, CA, TX, NM and AZ and 5 times to Walt Disney World). We recently made the difficult decision to trade our 5th in for a Pleasure Way van. So we have downsized again. The PW van is being built and we should get it in May. We can take the van just about anywhere which one couldn’t do with the big 5th trailer.
