Decorating Dilemmas Solved: New Feature!

Hi, y’all!

First, let me say that some of you are apparently still having problems getting to my blog and seeing the current post each day.  I’ve gotten at least a dozen comments and Facebook posts saying that when you click here from a Bookmark or whatever, it takes you to an old post almost 2 weeks ago and you can’t refresh to see the new ones.  I’m not sure what is going on for some of you, it’s definitely not everyone, because a ton of you signed up for the giveaway yesterday.  My tech guy is stumped too, so the only thing I can tell you all is to keep trying!  I do post a link every morning from my Facebook page to the new post over here, so that might be another way you can definitely keep up and follow the link over. I’m hoping this issue resolves itself.  My Feeds are working fine and there are still lots of visits to my blog, so I’m hoping this is only affecting a few of you.  In the meantime, follow my Southern Hospitality Facebook   page for all the updates too.

Now, for the news of the day……

I started doing online consultations a few years ago and enjoyed helping many of you make over some of your spaces.  However, my time is more limited now, with running this blog full time and trying to keep up with it all.  I had to take a break last year while we were renovating this house and I’m not even finished with renovating the outside of my house yet either, so that’s going to keep me pretty busy this year as well.  So, I’ve decided I’m not going to keep doing online consultations, but I will take on a few in person clients here in the Atlanta area, as those come along.

In the meantime, I’ve decided to start a new feature series, called Decorating Dilemmas and YOU all will be the feature.  If you have a room you need help with, send me 3 to 5 pics of that room and what you hope to accomplish in there.   You’ll have to be OK with  me posting pics of your house on the blog!   I’ll do a post on YOUR room, with your Before pics and I’ll throw out some advice on what I think you could do with the room and I’ll ask all my readers to chime in too.  That way, you’ll get some great ideas and inspiration on what you can do with a particular room.

decorating dilemmas

Doesn’t that sound like fun?

If you have a room you need help with, email me at:  [email protected] and I’ll start a file and at least once (maybe twice) a month, I’ll feature a space that needs help and we can all chime in with some FREE advice.  Please don’t send more than 5 pics!

I think this could be a LOT of fun and that way you all can get some help and we all know how everyone loves to give their opinions.  I just ask that opinions be said in a gracious way, so as not to hurt anyone’s feelings. We are all attached to our homes and love them, but hopefully this will be a way that y’all can get some help and I’ll be able to keep up with the demand and all the feedback won’t fall on MY shoulders.

I’ll do my best to get your space featured and come up with some inspiration for you too!  I can’t promise how long it will take to get your feature up, but I’ll my goal is to keep this series going all year long depending on how many of you send in spaces that need help.

I am glad that I am not the only one having trouble with your blog, but I am going through Facebook so that works ok. I am looking forward to your new feature.

Thanks for thinking of doing that.

I’m no techie ny far, but for those having problems maybe try deleting your bookmark, and type in the blog website fresh? If that works maybe bookmark the newly typed site? Good luck! Love the new decorating dilemma idea.

Hi Rhoda, So excited about the new feature. I am one of the readers having trouble finding your new post each day. Sometimes it goes back a couple of days, sometimes a couple of weeks. I didn’t have any problems at all until you recently changed servers. So, whatever problems some of your readers had before seems to be the problem for me now. Anyway, I tried what Arlie (above) suggested and that didn’t solve the problem. =( I’ll keep trying to visit through whatever means possible.

Yep. I clicked through the email re the lamps and landed here. It’s real and it’s happening. Hopefully y’all can figure it out. I’m not a frequent clicker-through-to-the-blog-reader; I miss the good old days of simply reading in my email. 🙂

I think this sounds like a win-win for all of us! There’s always a space (or 2 or 3) that I need input on…..I’ve looked at my LR/DR combo space for over 2 years now and keep thinking there’s gotta be a better way! Yep, that’s the space I’m going to start with! Woohoo!

This is soo exciting! I need help with our builder grade living room, especially since we’ll only be here for a few years. It needs to be sell-ready by next fallish. I’ll work on getting my pictures! I can’t wait to see everyone else’s pictures!!! 🙂

I am having the same trouble but thought maybe I was the only one! If I go to your home page it is always several days old. I have tried everything that I know to do. The only way I can get to new posts is by looking in your monthly archives and clinking on new posts that way.

I love this idea!!! My whole house needs an overhaul (but then my budget would need one too). I have a vision for what I want but just can’t pull it all together. Looks like you’re going to have a long list of rooms to go through! It will be fun to see what ideas come about for everyone’s rooms!

A fabulous idea, I had the same idea but will have to re-think now. I have just finished my mums house and plan to do a feature on it and was thinking exactly the same idea for the future as a regular post to help people with their dilemmas but I will re-think and come up with something a little different.

I love your blog Rhoda, its “real” and “from the heart” and you are a very talented decorator. If anyone can give great advice, it will be you.

Hi, Lee, you could certainly still do it too, don’t worry about that. The blogosphere is large enough for more than one of us giving advice on decorating, so don’t let that stop you at all. Go for it!

FYI: I was having a problem getting your latest posts. When I refreshed my screen it brought up the new posts. Never had to do this before. Just thought you might want to share with you webmaster.
    Thanks!

    Thank you so much, Rhoda!

I do have a room I need help with, I’m so confused on how to arrange it and what furniture to purchase for it. My husband and I are retiring next year and recently bought our home in Branson, MO. I’ll be going there next week and will make sure to take pictures of this room.

You’ll be hearing fron me soon. 🙂

Thank you, again, and God bless you!
