Easy Chocolate Pecan Pie

Hi friends! I shared this easy chocolate pie many years ago on my blog and recently made it again and remembered how good it is all over again. So I’m sharing it again. It’s called Chocolate Chip Pecan Pie and when I shared it then it called for walnuts, but I always use pecans, so you can use either one you wish.

It’s definitely rich, decadent, and delicious, so you might as well print it off now. I’ve had this recipe for years…you know how you pick up recipes from people you work with? I got this one years ago and still remember how good it was. I pulled it out again recently and made it for some friends. Served with vanilla ice cream, it’s a keeper!  And what I love is that it’s so easy. With a premade bought crust, you can whip up this pie in no time and serve it to company with vanilla ice cream.

I don’t make my own piecrusts, so store bought it is! I took better pics this time around so hope you enjoy!

This recipe has just a few ingredients and can be whipped up in no time.  A great pie for homemade dessert for a special occasion.

 

Easy Chocolate Chip Pecan Pie

Premade pie crust with an easy ingredient chocolate chip with walnuts or pecan pie.

Course Dessert
Prep Time 20 minutes
Cook Time 1 hour
Servings 8

Ingredients

  • 1 One 9-inch (deep dish) unbaked pie shell
  • 1 cup Chopped Pecans
  • 1 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup Plain Flour
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar Packed
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 cup 1 Stick melted butter

2 eggs

    Instructions

    1. Beat eggs until foamy with mixer. Add sugar, brown sugar & flour. Blend in melted butter until smooth. Blend in chocolate chips and pecans. Pour into pie crust. Bake at 350* for 1 hour. This pie freezes well.

    6-oz. (1 cup) semi-sweet chocolate chips
    1 cup chopped pecans
    1/2 cup plain flour
    1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
    1/2 cup sugar
    1/2 cup (1 stick) melted butter/margarine
    2 eggs

    Beat eggs until foamy. Add sugar, brown sugar & flour. Blend in melted butter until smooth. Blend in chocolate chips and pecans. Pour into pie crust. Bake at 350* for 1 hour. This pie freezes well.

    1. Ahh, chocolate pecan pie is my absolute favorite! I have always been very intimidated by pie making, but I saw “easy” and went for it. It was a success!     3. Could the chocolate chips be omitted? Then. …would it be just the standard pecan pie?

      • HI Sue, I don’t think it would be like a regular pecan pic by leaving out the chocolate chips. It might taste fine, not sure but the chocolate chips make it to me! Regular pecan pie has Caro syrup so this would be a different type recipe.

    7. Thanks for sharing this recipe Rhoda! I love trying different pecan pie recipes and my son loves chocolate pecan pie. I usually put just a teaspoon of bourbon in my pecan pies as well and it gives it just a little more flavor.

    8. Hi Rhoda, The first recipe begins: Beat the eggs, but the ingredients list does not include eggs!!! So how many eggs are there supposed to be?

      Rhoda, I am confused. The first list of ingredients have no eggs listed but then the instructions say to beat the eggs. Also, the 2nd recipe called Chocolate Pecan Pie has no pecans listed but walnuts. Something is not correct.

      Please check both recipes for omissions and replacements. There are no eggs listed in the first recipe yet the instructions say to beat eggs until frothy. Chocolate a Pecan Pie has no pecans listed but walnuts. Can you correct these as I do want to make them. TIA.

      • Hi, Judy, I modified the original recipe which called for walnuts, so either pecans or walnuts are fine. There are 2 eggs & I missed putting those in the printable recipe. It’s been fixed now! Easy to make, so hope you’ll try it.

      It’s me again. The second recipe is for Chocolate Pecan Pie, but the ingredients list walnuts, not pecans. I guess the proofreader was snoozing today! LOL ;D))

      • HI, Pat, sorry about that. As I mentioned in the beginning paragraph, the original recipe called for walnuts but I’ve always used pecans, so I changed it to pecans and didn’t get all the walnuts taken out of the recipe. It’s fixed now,but feel free to use whichever nut you wish.
