Fashion over 50: Flared Jeans with Vicki

Hello my friends!  Today, I’m off on another blog adventure.  You may remember that last year, I was invited by Phantom Screens to come and preview a historic house in Mobile that they were taking on and renovating, calling it Southern Romance.  The renovations took months, but the house is finally finished and ready to show off!  I can’t wait to see it in person and come back and share it with all of you too.

Meanwhile on Fashion over 50, it’s been awhile, but today I’m back with my friend, Vicki, and she is sharing a few new things in her closet.  You may remember that she and I went shopping awhile back and she added some trendy new things to her wardrobe.  She loved the bootcut jeans so much that she bought them and has been sporting them lately.   Bootcut jeans are a great way to balance out your figure as the fitted thighs and flared legs offset hips and shoulders creating a slimmer look.

If you’re new to my blog, Vicki is my longtime friend.  We’ve been friends since we were 15, are exactly the same age, and our birthdays are a week apart.

Jessica Simpson Bootcut Jeans, similar pair (affiliate link)

The top is a turquoise thermal top by Calvin Klein. Can’t find it online.

Long fringe Sweater – Melissa McCarthy Seven7, found it at HSN online.

The longer fringe sweater is a great layer for Fall/Winter outfits.

Vicki is wearing a Ginger Snaps bracelet and these buttons change out to different looks.

For a bright pop of color, she added a red bow tie top, which would work for holidays.  Pink satin top by Nine West.

And last, a layered cream lace top with the gray sweater, topped with a scarf.

Lace top by Eye Shadow. Can’t find it online, but it came from Macy’s.

Vicki also got a new haircut recently and I think it looks fantastic.  Her hair has been layered for a long time, but she got a more precise bob done recently.  Here’s the BEFORE.  It’s amazing what a good cut and color and makeup will do as a pick me up!

And the AFTER, with makeup and the new haircut!  Doesn’t she look great?!

fashion over 50010

The cut and color look great with Vicki’s coloring!

Hope you enjoyed having Vicki back on Fashion over 50.  Vicki’s youngest son just got engaged, so there will be a wedding in their future this year.  So happy for the couple!

Great, now I’m gonna have to starting wearing makeup…what a transformation!! You just might have to teach me how, though. Love you, beautiful girl! And that includes you, too, Rhoda!

Great fashion choices, such a pretty lady, I would love to know what makeup products and how she puts them on, so natural looking and they just emphasize her good looks, not make her overly made up.

    Hello Rhoda and Vickie,
I love all the new clothes, especially the gray sweater with the gray and coral scarf. The new haircut is so cute and flattering, and the new makeup is just the perfect finishing touches! I love when you blog about Vickie, she is just so beautiful and still very relatable !!!

It’s amazing how a soft fringe on the face frames and softens everything as we mature. Nothing like a good hair cut to keep a woman current. You look fab!

She looks stylish and pulled together. A good haircut can never be over-rated. Love the look of the long gray sweater with the jeans.

Thanks for bringing Vickie back! I am a similar size and need the not as young anymore clothing guidance. Here is my question. How does everybody like the red shirt with the bow? I haven’t worn anything with a bow on top since forever. I am kind of liking it, but always shy away because of my bust. Thoughts?

Pretty lady, love the colors, she looks beautiful in the turquoise. The makeup and haircut is great. Not a fan of the jeans, to me they look a bit on the sloppy side, perhaps the length is a bit too long….

Fabulous! Everything is on point, especially the haircut. I think the jeans look great, not sloppy at all. ?

Oh Vicki we have missed you! You look absolutely stunning! Love, love, love the new haircut. I like the jeans too. They make your legs look really thin. In fact, your face looks thinner too. Whatever you are doing, it works! You are so pretty, even without makeup on.

Beautiful lady and really good suggestions! I am almost 60 and as stuff start to “shift” I found it difficult to get a comfortable fit. Then a older lady, who worked in fashion for 50+ years, told me, “Girl, you need to taylor your clothes! It’s a good thing”! Thick in the middle? Choose a top that defines your waistline to give you a shape. Round isn’t a good shape! No uni-boob. Spend money on “good” bras and foundations. Watch your necklines, hem breaks and pant leg shapes. She has passed on and I thank God for her advice daily. Keep up to good work!! 🙂

I love the colors on Vickie and her haircut looks absolutely fabulous!! She is such a beautiful lady. I do think the layers of fringed garments worn together is a little too much for her height and agree the jeans could be a little shorter or actually, skinny jeans would look great with the fringed poncho. Just my opinion. Thanks for sharing!!
