Feature Friday: HGTV Urban Oasis Home in Asheville, NC

I love the mountains of NC and when I found out that HGTV has just renovated a bungalow in that beautiful city of Asheville, I knew it would be fun to see.  I have had the pleasure of visiting in person several of these HGTV homes over the years, so since I haven’t visited this one in real life, it was fun to take the tour online at HGTV.  I also noticed that my talented and entertaining friend here in Atlanta, Brian Patrick Flynn, is the designer on this project which made it even more special to see.  He’s super talented with putting rooms together.

HGTV has the whole tour online, but they gave me permission to share it here on my blog, so I thought you would love it too.  They took a little old bungalow in need of some major love and renovated it into a sleek and sophisticated urban home.  I love how it turned out so see what you think about it.

And, they are giving this house away, so you can sign up to win over there!

Before

BEFORE:  Cute bungalow home, but in need of some major love and care.

AFTER:  Updated with a sophisticated color palette and high end modern finishes.

Love this country gate leading the way to the house on a pea gravel pathway.

Simple landscaping lets the house shine in its mountain setting.

Cozy and casual furniture on the front porch is so welcoming. I love all the blue that he used throughout the house.

Thought this idea of hanging grommet curtains on the porch was a great idea.

The entry opens right up in the living room, but a pretty vintage table acts as an entry

I love the mix of vintage and modern pieces in the home, also melded with some pretty fresh fabrics.

Blue in the living room are so very pretty.

The dining space is in between the living room and the kitchen.

Very cozy and pretty dining area.

Cow pictures have taken over it seems and they look right at home in this space.

The kitchen with that WOW wall of subway tile definitely has my attention.  The black cabinets mixed with the rustic natural island is a nice combination.

All the light coming in and the tall ceilings make it feel so spacious.

Downstairs to the basement.  All bedrooms on main level.

The guest room in purples and grays is very soothing.

Peeking back down to the living room.

This is a cute loft area.uo2015_master-bedroom-interior-french-doors-bed-nightstand-red-white-blue_h.jpg.rend.hgtvcom.1280.853

The master bedroom in red, white and blue is very Americana and cozy feeling at the same time.

uo2015_master-bedroom-interior-bed-pillows-red-white-blue-wall-art-comforter_h.jpg.rend.hgtvcom.1280.853

With plenty of white, it doesn’t look stale at all.

It’s easy to love these colors.

uo2015_master-bathroom-interior-counter-tops-towels-robe-mirror_h.jpg.rend.hgtvcom.1280.853

The master bath in white and navy subway tile is a standout.

Peeking past the master bedroom to the outdoors and the deck off the master.

uo2015_deck-exterior-red-white-blue-sofa-rug-plants_h.jpg.rend.hgtvcom.1280.853

How cozy and nice is this?   Those striped red drapes make this space.

uo2015_deck-exterior-steps-kayaks-drapery-red-white_h.jpg.rend.hgtvcom.1280.853

It looks fantastic from the back with those striped curtains and plants.

The backyard and fenced area.

You can’t beat Asheville for a beautiful Southern getaway spot.  I love it up there.  The Biltmore is nearby and there are lots of things to see and do in the mountains.

CI_slidingrock_big.jpg.rend.hgtvcom.1280.853

When I saw this picture, oh my goodness, I just had to laugh.  I grew up going to sliding rock up there in the mountains of NC and it was way before they made an actual park out of it.  This is one big hunk of rock and when we were kids, we would slide down it on our backsides (covered in cutoff blue jeans) and slide until we couldn’t stand it anymore. There’s a pool of water at the bottom.

Oh, the memories of childhood!  And sliding rock…I’ll never forget it.  Thought you’d enjoy seeing the Urban Oasis house in Asheville.

Speaking of Asheville, I’ve just been invited back to the Grove Park Inn in November to be a judge again in the Gingerbread House contest that they hold there annually and I’m just so excited to go back.  My niece, Lauren, and I had so much fun last year and she’s going with me again.  Pinch me indeed, I get to do so many fun things.

Hi, Sorry if it’s not listed over at HGTV, I don’t know where it is in Asheville. I do not think they open these giveaway homes to the public to tour.

Hanging curtains outside in the North Carolina winter is silly.
