Happy Friday friends! It’s another Friday Favorites and I’ve got some fun things to share with you today, so I hope you enjoy.
Feature Friday
A few years ago, I shared Brooke with 1820 Farmhouse. That link is the updated home tour here on my blog. She had a different blog name back then, but today I’m sharing this Feature Friday again. Brooke’s white farmhouse in NY is such a pretty home and she’s done so much to it over the years. Don’t miss Brooke’s complete home tour on her blog too, it’s updated with fresh pics and content. Her master bathroom reno is just gorgeous!
Instagram Inspiration
Here are a couple of over 50 ladies that I’m friends with on Instagram.
Beth with Style at a Certain Age has a lot of fashion inspiration and shares it almost daily on Instagram. She just did a bathroom update on her blog that is so pretty and classic. Check her out on the blog and Instagram.
Kitty Wass is a 74 year old influencer on Instagram and she has a lot of style! Gorgeous lady!
James Farmer always inspires me with his designs and classic Southern style.

This pair of chairs at Target would be great on a porch.
I love a cute garden stool used as a side table, blue and white is a bonus! Safavieh is a great brand.
This blue and white rug is the same brand, really cute in that vintage look.
What a cute waste basket, love the lid!
As you can see, I love caning, wicker and bamboo. This TV console is so pretty!
This caned vase really caught my eye, I just ordered this one for myself.
What We’re Watching/Reading
We just watched the Harvey Weinstein documentary on Netflix called Untouchable. It was interesting to hear from his accusers as well as colleagues talking about him after his trial was all over. We really enjoy documentaries, so if you have any you can recommend let me know.
I’m really loving The Established Home on Magnolia Network. Jean Stoffer is the designer in Michigan and she’s so talented.
Mark bought this book and I’m reading it now. Very eye opening. Not getting political here, but just sharing an informative book if you’re interested. We like to stay informed on what’s going on.
Thank You, Rhoda…for speaking up on this topic and not being afraid.
Rhoda, You’re posts are always spot on. Warm, authentic, comforting and real.
Maria, thank you so much!
I’ve been following you a long time…Your blog is beautiful and I appreciate that you are sharing the your parent’s story as I will be in the same situation soon. Unfortunately I will be unable to follow you anymore.
Your blog has always been a beautiful escape from division and politics, but now thats not the case. Its like when someone says, “no offense, but…” and the goes on to say something offensive. It’s not about agreeing or disagreeing, but that you’ve taken a route that is inflammatory and unnecessary.
I wish you continued success.
So we’ll stated. I, too, share your feelings. This has been an oasis of benign content that I’ve enjoyed for many years…an oasis during very stressful times. I’ve connected so much regarding aging parents and found this blog to be informative and supportive. I’m sad to see politics have leaked into Rhoda’s blog.
Hmmm Sounds a lot like throwing out the baby with the bath water. In a social climate where people are to be respected for their opinions and ideals, that means hearing and reading opinions and ideals that are differ from our own. It is hard but not impossible, and when one comes across content not personally endorsed, it then becomes a choice to move on. No reason to make hurtful negative comments that embarrass or denigrate Rhoda and her readers.
I agree, Sarah. This blog has always been one I go to first every day. No more. There is absolutely no reason to politicize content on a blog like this. Ciao! I’m done!!
Love these recommendations!
Thank you for sharing this book suggestion. I will be reading it and sharing with friends who are not in the cancel-culture mindset.
Hello Rhoda. I too have been enjoying your lovely blog and will continue to do so no matter if we always agree or not. Recommending a book, movie, or any other personal choice does not mean someone has to view or do it. It’s exactly that, a personal choice and your readers are very grateful for the time, effort, and openness you have put into your posts and shown to us. Thank you for sharing your life with us. You’re one classy and beautiful lady.
Lies and misinformation are not “viewpoints” and that is what RFK Jr. is spreading. I’ve always enjoyed your blog but this is it for me.
Thank you Heidi. You said that better than I was able to. However, one misstep on Rhoda’s part is not the end for me but next one will be.
Have you read the book? I’m reading it now & everything has footnotes. Why are you so quick to disagree?
Love the 1820 Farmhouse. I so often see once stately homes left to crumble, and it makes me happy whenever anyone saves these pieces of American history. Appreciate you and your blog, too, Rhoda. The best to your family.
I’m really enjoying the new format on Fridays! If those readers who are disturbed by your book choice are so confident in their own personal “truth”, why not continue enjoying your blog & just overlook sections they aren’t interested in? Or is this just more intolerance from those who demand tolerance. Intelligent people are those who seek the truth rather than blindly follow trends of the moment. Even the most woke individual can surely see & comprehend the “science” touted by so called experts has constantly changed since March, 2020. This isn’t about being conservative or liberal, rather about being informed American citizens seeking the truth in an effort to make the right healthcare decisions for themselves. Thank you Rhoda for sharing a resource some of your readers may find helpful to them, personally, as you have. Perhaps those former readers should begin blogs to influence others as well! God bless America!
I whole heartedly agree with Denise.Rhoda you are a lovely person and I enjoy your blog,no politics please!
Thanks Patty! And kudos to ALL – I’ve seen no nasty comments about differences of opinion. Yes, all are entitled to their own opinion but most of us don’t have a forum to express them. I personally come here for decorating, clothing, travel and escapism from politics – even inadvertent politics. Hope we can keep it that way.
As an American citizen I am thankful that the U.S. Constitution guarantees our rights including freedom of speech and freedom of the press. We can read and recommend whatever books we choose. We can also practice civility and respect that others may have different opinions.
I’m a librarian and am here to tell all of the commenters who are whining that they’re going to cancel you that it is VERY dangerous to dictate what is “appropriate” reading material.
I read the RFK book and loved it.
Thank you, Amy, your points are right on.
Thank you for all the blog suggestions and home items. I’m very interested in the Netflix doc and the book you suggested. I appreciate your letting us know and feel like you, that we must educate ourselves on these issues. I research issues and refuse to accept anything as fact just because current trend says it is. Information, ulterior motives, bad actors…so much can be found. Digging deeper is always a good idea.
Thank you, Pat, I could not agree more.
Thank you Rhoda for always posting wonderful content! Since you own the blog, it is your option to post your opinion! I appreciate more people speaking out on the deception that is occurring in our country! Love your bog even more!!
Thank you, Jenn, I appreciate the support! We all have to be brave.
Have we reached a point where we cannot even tolerate someone’s differing political viewpoint? Or even that someone else is READING something you might not agree with without flouncing off in anger? Good riddance.
I’ve read RFK’s book and agreed with it. I’ve ALSO read both of the Obama biographies, and both Clinton biographies.
No wonder our country is so at odds with one another. How myopic we have become. We form little factions and refuse to see another point of view. It’s ignorant.
Sigh, I know Amy, I hear you.
I hadn’t heard of this book and didn’t even know that showing it was “political”. Yikes! Have we come to this? If you hadn’t said, “Not getting political…” I wouldn’t have known that it wasn’t just another book about the past couple of years (personally, that I’ve had enough of). All the comments pointed out that it is considered political to read a book whether you agree with what it says or not. Good thing you don’t show any of the philosophical books that have been discussed/argued about throughout history. Scientists gather data to prove/disprove/rule out theories and move forward with discoveries. Lawyers gather info on both sides of issues in order to properly debate. Theologians usually read a variety of religious material, whether they are of that religion or not. – I guess we are all supposed to go back in time and be one-dimensional, smile-and-nod-at-everything women.
Lissa, I know believe me I hear you! I was surprised at the number of people who said they were leaving over it.
