inally, there is a crispness in the air, we can open the windows and let in the cool Fall breezes. October 1st is here and it’s time to celebrate Fall’s arrival, my second favorite of the four seasons of the year. If you’ve been reading my blog for a couple of years, you will know that I don’t go all out for Fall decorating. I save it up for a big Christmas show!
Grand Jury duty is over and boy, was that interesting! I learned a lot about our judicial system and am really glad I was privileged to serve for 3 days. We also took a tour of the jail (which is mandatory for the Grand Jury to do). Very enlightening! Glad to be back to my normal schedule now.
I do like to add some special things to my foyer table, so this year, once again, I drug out the white pumpkins that I made last year and put together a little vignette to welcome Fall. As I’m looking at all these pieces, I see that everything here came from a yardsale (except the plastic pumpkins and that sweet painting from Lara Harris that I won in her giveaway).
I simply painted 2 little plastic pumpkins from Hobby Lobby and painted their stems black and sat them on top of 2 candlesticks. And the urn painting that Lara did, is a perfect addition to this Fall table. I kept it simple this year.
Once again, my faithful iron yardsale urn, takes center stage with some simple pinecones and acorns, most of them from my own yard. The white starfish is a good contrast to all the brown. You’ll notice a cute little quail sitting on top. He was a yardsale find last year and I’ve been waiting to use him somewhere. Perfect!
He’s adorable with his real feathers, especially that little tuft on top.
This pretty leaf and acorn metal plate was also a yardsale find from a couple of years ago and I love the rustic look of it. Last year, I really got into the white pumpkins, and you can see that in the above link from last year and the Better Homes and Gardens inspiration pic that got me started on this. I had the urn already and with the addition of some lime green moss, it was perfect for holding my white pumpkin.
So, that’s it for Fall at my house.
I’ll be adding my Fall wreath that I put together last year to the door and will call it a day.
I’ll add in a few more inspiration pics that I hope you’ll enjoy. My friend, Maureen, took this pic of Mary Carol Garrity’s home tour a few years ago and I just love it. So very fallish!
From Country Living, aren’t these sweet and don’t they look yummy?!

Hope you got some inspiration to add a little Fall festiveness, if you haven’t already spread it around your house. What a wonderful season to enjoy the sights, smells, and taste.

You may have kept it simple, Rhoda, but what you have done to decorate for the season looks just lovely. I like the urn- with the starkness of the white starfish contrasting against the natural colors of nature in the pinecones and acorns. And the gorgeous green moss playing against the white pumpkin- pure simplicity…
I love the eggplant in the wreath! That is one color I did not use at all this year, Thanks for hosting the party. I love this time of the year the best. 🙂
hugs, Sue

Morning Miss Rhoda, Yesterday I did a little fall post so I will try to hook up for your happy fall y’all event today. As always, love you hall table decorations. Your hair in the post below is sooo cute, you are making me think about getting bangs when I get my hair done next week.
Hugs,
Sue

Your foyer table looks beautiful! I love the fact that, even though the colors are very subtle, you’ve included a bit of contrast with the white pumpkins and starfish.
Thanks so much for hosting this party! It helped me to get my rear in gear and get a few things done around the house.
Glad that jury duty didn’t turn out to be too much of a chore for you! I’m grateful that people like you are willing to serve. It’s nice to hear you depict it for the privilege it is rather than as an awful chore. 🙂

Thanks for all the “fall” to get us in the mood! I like the white pumpkins as a change from the usual orange. I also like those felt pumpkins and felt leaf-wreath. Cute!

Talk about an early bird. Now, Ms. Rhoda you must have got up with the crows this morning. 🙂 Love that you had a fall party and I see we had some of the same ideas from the PB catalog. Happy Fall to you my friend.

Hi Rhoda,
Great pix, great inspiration. I haven’t found any white pumpkins here in France this year but did find a few pretty gourds.

Happy Fall, Rhoda! I’m inspired! I’m loving white pumpkins right now, too. I found some adorable ceramic ones at Target a few weeks ago, and they make me smile whenever I walk past them. They are very small – about the size of large salt and pepper shakers – but they are just perfect!
