inally, there is a crispness in the air, we can open the windows and let in the cool Fall breezes. October 1st is here and it’s time to celebrate Fall’s arrival, my second favorite of the four seasons of the year. If you’ve been reading my blog for a couple of years, you will know that I don’t go all out for Fall decorating. I save it up for a big Christmas show!
Grand Jury duty is over and boy, was that interesting! I learned a lot about our judicial system and am really glad I was privileged to serve for 3 days. We also took a tour of the jail (which is mandatory for the Grand Jury to do). Very enlightening! Glad to be back to my normal schedule now.
I do like to add some special things to my foyer table, so this year, once again, I drug out the white pumpkins that I made last year and put together a little vignette to welcome Fall. As I’m looking at all these pieces, I see that everything here came from a yardsale (except the plastic pumpkins and that sweet painting from Lara Harris that I won in her giveaway).
I simply painted 2 little plastic pumpkins from Hobby Lobby and painted their stems black and sat them on top of 2 candlesticks. And the urn painting that Lara did, is a perfect addition to this Fall table. I kept it simple this year.
Once again, my faithful iron yardsale urn, takes center stage with some simple pinecones and acorns, most of them from my own yard. The white starfish is a good contrast to all the brown. You’ll notice a cute little quail sitting on top. He was a yardsale find last year and I’ve been waiting to use him somewhere. Perfect!
He’s adorable with his real feathers, especially that little tuft on top.
This pretty leaf and acorn metal plate was also a yardsale find from a couple of years ago and I love the rustic look of it. Last year, I really got into the white pumpkins, and you can see that in the above link from last year and the Better Homes and Gardens inspiration pic that got me started on this. I had the urn already and with the addition of some lime green moss, it was perfect for holding my white pumpkin.
So, that’s it for Fall at my house.
I’ll be adding my Fall wreath that I put together last year to the door and will call it a day.
I’ll add in a few more inspiration pics that I hope you’ll enjoy. My friend, Maureen, took this pic of Mary Carol Garrity’s home tour a few years ago and I just love it. So very fallish!
From Country Living, aren’t these sweet and don’t they look yummy?!

Your inspiration pics are lovely too.
Those who follow my blog know I am a WSonoma/Pottery Barn junkie. We have an outlet and I haunt it once a week looking for bargains..
(Monday’s post showed my bargains from last week!)
I will be on the look out for that galvanized stand…it would be great for an outdoor display too!
Happy Fall, Rhoda, and thanks for hosting the party!

Your Fall scheme is just enviable! I love it all! Texas is still very green so nothing screams Fall yet except the cooling temps. Anyway, I’ll just burn your pictures into my head to make me enjoy Fall here. 😉

Like you, I don’t decorate much at all for fall…Christmas is my time, too! :O)
Everything looks really pretty..and I like white pumpkins, too. I wanted a polka dot one this year but made the mistake of painting it BLACK with white spots and it looks just like a bowling ball ! Next time, it will be WHITE with black spots !!
Thanks for hosting today..

What wonderful Fall eye candy! Beautiful. I love the lazy susan and the wire basket from the Pottery Barn. As a matter of fact I think I may need them.

Very pretty, Rhoda! I don’t do too much for Fall either; I also prefer going all out for my Christmas decorating.

Hi Rhoda! I am just starting to decorate for fall (I live in SoCal where the temps were recently in the 90s!), but I struggle at this time because there is so much RED in my house (everything clashes…but it looks great at Christmas!). I really appreciate seeing what you have done and it is simply BEAUTIFUL! Thanks for sharing and God bless, Steph.

Good Morning, Rhoda!
Everything looks so nice, really ready for Fall! I love the color combo of white, black and green – it’s crisp and clean and kind of modern, too. Your wreath is wonderful, now I think I have to go rethink the one hanging on my door, not nearly as nice as what you have. Guess I have some work to do….
Take care, hope you can stop by for a visit! I’m having my first every giveaway to celebrate my big two month anniversary (yup-only two months, but what an accomplishment for me!)

Hey Rhoda,
I’m laughing because when I saw your heading for today’s post I thought something was wrong with blogger…I have the same heading. lol
I was supposed to have jury duty yesterday but they released me. I was a little disappointed because I thought it would be interesting. But I had a unexpected free day since I had arranged my schedule around it. And I don’t get those very often.
Your Fall decorations look perfect. I’m always amazed at how you make the decorations fit into your home. Everything matches and flows together nicely. I need work on this in my home.
