Master Bedroom Plans in the New House: Wayfair Giveaway!

So, at this point, I’m doing a lot of dreaming about pretty things and how they are all going to look in my new house.

Sigh….I can’t help it.  After 4 months of hard labor, I am dreaming of the day that I can play with fabrics, accessories and get furniture placed just right.  It’s coming soon, right?!

My master bedroom has been one area that I’ve been mulling over.  You all that have been with me for a long while remember my old master bedroom in Birmingham, with the creamy white matelassé mixed with blue and golds.  I’m keeping the blue and white for now, but the gold is out the window this time around.  I don’t want the same feel at all, for very obvious reasons. 🙂  I still have all my furniture and my new room is nice and big and will hold it all just fine.

In comes my favorite color of green to the mix!  In case you want to know my thought processes when I try to figure all of this out, I look at things and see what they can become.  I do like blue and white together even if that wouldn’t be my first choice for decorating colors and the blues that I have are nice blues and guess what, they mix well with greens.
I wasn’t about to ditch all my blue and white and start over, cause I really do still like those colors together.  They are easy and restful, calming and peaceful.  But, I wanted to freshen them up and so I thought a perfect way to do that would be to bring in fresh greens to the mix.

Dash and Albert rug

One way to get your creative juices flowing is to look at a focal piece for the room.  A rug is a great place to start.  I got online and started looking at rugs.  In fact, with my Joss and Main sale earlier this year, I had some credits saved up and when a cute Dash and Albert rug came along, I decided to order it.  I loved the stripes and the colors and figured I could use it somewhere in my new house, at the small  2 x 3 size.

When I got it in, I did love the colors.  So much in fact, that I decided this rug would make a nice addition to my master bedroom with the blue and white I already had.  Then, Wayfair contacted me about guest posting for them and doing a giveaway. They carry these rugs on their online site.  I asked them about the rug and they generously sent this beautiful 8×10 Dash and Albert Fisher rug to me to use in my new bedroom.

I know!  I have to pinch myself at the opportunities and products I get to try out for myself with this blogging thing.  It is pretty amazing and believe me, I don’t take it for granted.

Wayfair is the parent company for Joss and Main. I absolutely love their home décor products and they have a ton of them. Joss and Main is a flash sale site and when you sign up, you can get in on some nice sales. In fact, anyone can share a link to Joss and Main and you can get credits too when friends sign up and purchase products.  In fact, I’m going to be doing another Joss and Main sale later this Fall, just in time for the Holidays.

Squeal!!  I’m going to be in my new house for Christmas this year.  And that makes me SO HAPPY!

Dash and Albert Fisher rug

So, back to my bedroom.  I’m having so much fun dreaming about what my room will look like.  This room is nice and big and I can fit all my furniture in here with no problems.  That is going to be so nice for me.  Right now, my stuff is crammed into my parent’s small upstairs bedroom and while I’m so grateful for a place to live, I can’t wait to spread out again and have room for all my things.

blue and green Dash and Albert rug

You can see my blue and white paisley shams and how nice they will look with this new Dash and Albert rug.  Love this!

The rug will give my fabrics a whole new lease on life now and I don’t have to start over in decorating my room.  That’s a huge plus, since I have so many other things to spend money on.

Ikea Ritva drapes

I also purchased 3 sets of these Ritva drapes from Ikea which I have big plans for.  These will be stenciled in a pretty Ikat stencil (in blue) and hopefully add some real pizazz to my windows too.  At $25 a set, these don’t break the bank either and a custom stencil will be fun.

Fisher Rug Dash and Albert

This striped rug really makes me smile.

Another big plan that I have is doing this paint treatment on the headboard wall, the one that will be seen coming in the door.  I can’t wait!  I saw this at the Southern Living Idea house and immediately fell in  love with it and this is the perfect spot to try it out.  Hello, Frogtape!  Southern Living was nice enough to put the instructions for this paint treatment on their website and I’m following it. In fact, I’m using just about this same color in my bedroom for my wall too.

Master bath vanity sconce

Not a great pic, but I found this wall sconce at a local store called Cherokee Closeouts up in Canton, for just over $30 (their fixtures are marked down all the time).  They have sales on their lighting and if you find something you like, it’s not bad pricing.  It’s not really crooked, but the screw needs tightening on the back.  I’ve got an electrician who is doing some updates for me and I’ll get him to move the light fixture down and hang my sconce in the vanity area.  It’s going to look so cute in there!

Rug and pillow sham

So that’s my plans for the bedroom right now.  I’m going to have fun and be creative with what I have. No need starting from scratch when you have some good items to work with.  I’ll add some green pillows to my bed and make it all work together and I’ll take some greens into my bathroom too.  More than likely, you’ll see one piece of furniture painted a vibrant green too.  Stay tuned for that!

Master bedroom progress

This blank slate of a bedroom is going to come together soon!  I can’t wait to get all moved in there and start living in it.

Thanks to Wayfair for sending me the rug, which really jump started my new room makeover!

They want to share with my readers too and are offering a $50 giveaway for ONE of my readers to shop at Wayfair too!! Woohoo, I know you’ll love that.  Wayfair has so many great items to choose from and you’ll have fun browsing, just like I did.

Click over to Wayfair.com to see all they have to offer!

I’m leaving comments open for now, but PLEASE NOTE:  To be entered in the giveaway, you’ll need to click on the Rafflecopter entries in the Rafflecopter widget to record your entries. There are 3 ways to be entered and you can use 1 or all 3 to be eligible for the giveaway!!

Also, here’s something else fun that Wayfair is doing right now!  A Pinterest challenge. Click here to read all the details, but if you pick a photo from their Pinterest board to recreate using products from Wayfair.com, you could win something! I gave it a try and did a board here!

Love the rug, Rhoda- what a blessing! And thanks for the giveaway- woo-hoo!
I totally understand about truncating your feed- well, I understand why, just not how… 🙂 Anyway, I only read my faves through emails and almost always click over to comment, so it doesn’t bother me at all.

    Hi Rhoda,
Love the rug for your bedroom. You must be getting so anxious to get moved in. I think all your blog readers are all getting so excited for you. I really like all the things Joss and Main have, but unfortunately they will not ship to Canada. I wish they would change that. I have missed out on a couple of things I really wanted because they wont ship here. I have been debating if I should unsubscribe to their emails because it is hard to see so many things I like that I can’t order. I will go over the the Wayfair site to see if they will ship to Canada. Personally I think if someone in Canada is willing to pay the additional shipping they should not be turning away business.
    Have a great day.

    Hi Rhoda,
I just went to the Wayfair site and they do ship to Canada. Yay! I wonder why then that the Joss and Main does not since Wayfair is their parent company. Does not make sense to me.

      Hi,
I too am in Canada and I too have been tempted by Joss and Main. Am almost glad they don’t ship to Canada – way too tempting for me!!! Not sure I want to say thanks re the info that Wayfair ships to Canada! LOL I found out the other day that Kohl’s doesn’t ship to Canada and have no plans to do so in the future. Drat!!!!
For me, not being able to join in on the contests and giveaways from US blogs makes me sad! 🙁 Especially when some of the sponsors have stores in Canada! Oh well!
I’m about to go over to your site – I’ve slowly been adding more and more Canadian sites to my email list and taking away some of my US sites. Some US sites, Southern Hospitality being one, I would not get rid of, though.

I absolutely love starting from scratch, in a new home! So much fun to see it all come together. Probably why I loved home staging so much…instant gratification! Your home is going to be your best ever and all yours! Enjoy!

Wow. Found raffle-copter no problem in Firefox, but not on IE. I did everything but tweet. I don’t have Twitter any longer. Thanks for the opportunity. Can’t wait to look around Wayfair.

re: rafflecopter – I couldn’t see it from my work laptop but came home, using my daughter’s old laptop (only a year and a half old) since she got a new one for college…updated Adobe and it was right there at the end of the post. It’s a large square box that says giveway, has a countdown timer of how many days left…states $50 Wayfair gift card and you answer a question to enter. It shows 345 entrees as of now. Ya’ll may want to make sure you are allowing pop ups in order to view it. I’m not that technical, just an “end user” as techies say…but try allowing pop ups and make sure you’re using the latest version of Adobe. Hope this helps!

Rhoda, a little disappointed that you are truncating your feeds but I understand why. Unfortunately, I have quite a few blogs that I read via the feeds and I’ll probably miss out on some of your posts because I’d have to go to your site to read the entire post. Being able to read the entire post at one time is the reasoning behind my subscription to the feeds. Just one woman’s opinion. 🙂

    Hi Rhoda,
So sorry you’ve had to alter the way some of us receive your blog. I get mine via email and so far have had no problems.
I know this wasn’t a decision you or the other bloggers have made lightly. You’re just protecting your businesses and at the same time still trying to provide us/we (never know which word to use) readers with all your words of wisdom! 🙂
    All the best,
    Cathy

Rhoda—I subscribe to all my blogs via email & always “click over” to read the content (seems I read we should do this for blog owners traffic count or something like that…). Anyway, I’ve never experienced any delay. I still read wayyyyy too many blogs but oh the great ideas! Anyhoo–just wanted you to know that little tidbit!! 🙂 Your rug is just so cute & I’m loving adding the green to your blue & white….love that you have a nice big bedroom, too for all your beautiful furniture!! I’m sooooo happy for you!! You are soooo deserving of all this! Also, I remember you blogging about some little “junkers paradise” type place…& I’m thinking it was soon after you moved to Birmingham (I know it wasn’t when you were still in GA)…I remember it being very crowded & had a lot of vintage, glassware, junque! IF you happen to remember & have time, could you please let me know?! Thanks so much! Blessings!!

I love the wall idea and the colours your going to use. I have not seen this done before so will definitely take a look . I have the same colour in my own bedroom and have roman blinds in check like the wall.

The house is really coming along, your doing it amazingly fast.
