My Christmas Front Porch

Hi friends! Welcome to our Christmas front porch this year. It looks much the same as past years, but I’ve made a few additions which make a festive difference. If you’re stopping by from Home by Heidi, welcome to you. I’m Rhoda, a long time blogger (almost 16 years now) and I’ve been sharing my holiday home on my blog for all those years, so that’s a lot of Christmas sharing over the years. We love Christmas around here and like to start the festiveness at the front door. A welcoming porch says a lot, doesn’t it?!

This week, I’ll be joining some other bloggers who are also sharing certain spaces in their home and today is front porch day, so you’ll see lots of great ideas in this group. You’re sure to be inspired!

You’ll see all the days and links at the bottom of the post so keep looking.

Last year, I decided to add wreaths to our windows this year, so went out after Christmas to Michaels and got their inexpensive simple wreaths. I bought bows and ribbon on the after Christmas sales and it was all waiting for me this year. It made a little more work, but Mark helped me and we got it done in just an hour or so. We lowered the top of the windows and put the wreaths through and placed there where we wanted them and then shut the windows back. I love how they look!

When I shared a pic on Instagram, someone mentioned that tall window in our foyer, that it needed a wreath too. I said, maybe so but we aren’t climbing up that high, so it’s going to be naked. I do love the added cheer that the wreaths make in the windows.

I’ve stuck with traditional colors of greens and reds out here and I just use the same things over and over for the most part. Simple garland on the railings and deep red bows.

I added my black lanterns with a big bow on top and added some ornaments inside. Those are outdoor pillar candles with remotes. These candles with remotes are the ones I use outside. They aren’t wax and hold up well to the elements. I use these on the back porch during summer and out here for Christmas and they use regular batteries.

I’ve had this Christmas tree in urn for several years now and decided to add it to the porch this year and I love it. It’s very slim and fits well on this side. I got it from Lowes years ago. I have it on a timer at night along with the garland around the door and the lights come on automatically at dusk.

I hang these big plastic Christmas balls from cup hooks on the ceiling and love how they add such fun to the porch.

A wool ball garland and some large pinecone ornaments hang from the front side of the porch.

Red bows tie it all together. On this side is Mark’s childhood sled and I picked up those old ice skates at a thriftstore to add to the ambience. That cute sign came from At Home a few years ago as did the door mat.

I have plenty of Christmas ornaments to go around and these are perfect on the porch. It’s a small porch, but I try to make the most of it.

Merry Christmas sign is new this year and my wreath is a simple Target wreath I’ve had forever.

It’s a cute and festive porch especially at night when it’s all lit up.

Merry and Bright, y’all!

The lights came on and I got some snaps of dusk with the lights on. That’s when the magic happens.

Sparkle and cheer!

And that’s our holiday porch this year. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas season and enjoy it to the max. I love when all the decorating is done and I can sit back and relax for the whole month of December. It’s my birthday month too, so lots of celebrating (well, sort of, except for the getting older part!).

One more last shot of the night sky and the porch all lit up for Christmas. Thank you all for stopping by and seeing our porch this year. It’s not that much different from years’ past, but I am enjoying the urn tree and the new wreaths in the windows. Please do yourself a favor and visit all the other porches today. You are sure to be inspired as you get your Christmas decorating done too. I can say I’m officially done now, just finished the tree over the weekend and that feels good.

I’ll be sharing my mantel and kitchen on Thursday, so come back for that. And of course I’ll share the rest of my house later on too!

Don’t miss visiting Cindy Hattersley who is next on the tour. She is super talented and I know you’ll enjoy her holiday porch as well.
