New Office: Green and Turquoise and Beautiful!

I’m just over the moon excited about my new office space. A whole room for all my computer stuff and space to be organized too. How great will that be? You got a sneak peek of the green walls being painted and now they are all finished and I can’t wait to show you how fun it’s going to be.

It’s hard to capture the green correctly, but it’s a custom color that I had Sherwin-Williams make for me, a vibrant yellowy-green, called Fennel. I decided to leave off the bi-fold closet doors and paint the inside a happy turquoise color, Larchmere by Sherwin-Williams.

My plan is to add an Ikea bookcase of some kind inside (to be determined) with baskets and bins for storage (in white, that should look great against the pretty blue).

Here’s a peek of the dark brown doors with my office wall colors. Only one coat on in this pic, but it’s looking good.

Here’s what you see when you walk in the room, lots of pretty green.

stencil in progress

I decided that far wall was the perfect wall to stencil and I used the Large Moorish allover stencil from Royal Designs that I used in my sister’s bedroom. Here’s a tutorial I did when we used this same stencil in my sister’s bedroom, go here.

Moorish stencil wall

One pretty wall of ivory pearl stencil and it’s a standout. Do you like? I sure do! Now, here’s the really fun part. I can’t move in here yet, we still have to do floors in this room, but can’t you just see it all coming together? In case you need a little visual help, here’s my inspiration board, with all the elements that are going to make my office dreamy, happy and functional. Click on the pic (done in Olioboard) and it will show where everything is from:

My New Green Office

You can see the Ikea Blad panels are really going to brighten up the space. I added a striped rug, but am not sure which rug will end up in here. All those little fun details will make a huge impact on my office space. This is my existing Target desk, with a white chair similar to mine. The Ballard shelves I already have, and I’ve added a cute chair just for funsies. That wall clock I bought from Joss and Main and it is so cute. Check out those pretty black botanicals too! I’ve got some super fun plans for those and I’ll share that project with you real soon. You’re going to love it! So, that’s my office space plan! I hope you like it as much as I do. I mentioned that I’ll be doing a lot of blues and greens (my two fave colors) in this house and the office will come alive with color when I’m finished with it.

Your inspiration has me thinking…. We want to enclose our garage into a family room and add a fire place. My husband and I would like to decorated it with a cowboy feel with browns and reds and add pops of yellows.. Chip-it will help me bring all these colors together to see which browns and reds work best together. Thanks for the give-a-way.

Our offer on a house was just accepted this morning, so I have a lot of rooms to play with! I started playing around with the Chip It before we left Europe, and it’s so fun! I would definitely use it for my girls’ room.

Wow… I would redo the den/kitchen. The den has that uckey brown paneling that I’d love to paint over and the kitchen old dated wallpaper with uckey brown cabinets.

That is a fantastic green, and I wish I had the patience to stencil – it looks wonderful!

I would use Chip It! to update our master bedroom – it’s one of the few rooms that has not yet been painted and one of the several rooms not yet decorated since moving in. I know I want white+gray+black, but I’m waiting for some good inspiration for the accent color…maybe Chip It! can help 🙂

I would red every room. Use the money to pack up and move. Start a new life with my kids.

I would love to make over our kitchen/family room. Those two rooms are an open concept area that is combined. The kitchen especially needs a lot of TLC, so a little help in that area would be handy!

I really like the green color of your walls and especially your accent wall. Can’t wait to see the reveal of your home when you’re finished.

I want to re-do my son’s bedroom. He’s moving to another age and needs a bigger boy room.

Green is my favorite color! Love this office! If I could win the contest I’d use the money to re-do the room that will soon be my baby’s nursery!

I’d love to redo my mother-in-law’s great room (we’re housesitting for them right now). Love watching the progress on your home, Rhoda, especially with your parents working alongside you. What a treasure, and what memories you are making!

I am stuck in the process of selecting a new color and furniture in my living room. The color that it is is very dingy looking in the north facing room and the furniture is old and has been used by college boys. I would love to have the chance to fix it all.

I love what you are doing with your house. The white walls are sort of making me think of using that in my house, which is a very open concept. I love the office. I’m going to check out Ikea panels myself.

Is there any way to use the chip it taking a picture of a picture?

My next room project will be my craft room. The Chip-it! tool would be very helpful in coordinating my colors.

Hi Rhoda; I actually have an IKEA bookcase I am trying to sell – you can have it for $25 plus shipping though I have no idea how to ship furniture do you? the back of it has come out a little bit (bowed) but otherwise its white and in great condition – I will check which one it is and leave a note…

I would love to have our master bedroom decorated properly. I love to decorate but have a limited budget and it seems that our room gets passed over every time there is a house project. Maybe for our 25th anniversary is what I keep telling my husband.

I would love to make over my bedroom. I have some pics of some fabric I love so I would use the Chip It! tool to pull some colors from that 🙂

That green, and I know it’s virtually impossible to capture color and have my monitor cooperate and show accurately, looks a lot like the color we’re doing our living room walls. I love your plans for the office; I never would have thought of turquoise accent but I love it.

Our master bedroom probably hasn’t been redone in 25 years, at least! Kids came and that got pushed way beyond the back burner since both had/have special needs. Our son with autism, now 26, still lives here and needs help your average guy his age doesn’t. Anyway, that’s the why the room’s so ignored; haven’t even photographed it, it’s that embarrassing. But chip-it and winning $$ to work with especially, might make me do it, lol.
