Ihave been very fortunate to be featured in our local Birmingham paper 4 times in the last 3 years and of course, have saved the articles with the intention of framing them and hanging them in my office nook.
I never got around to that. But, then something even better happened!
Larson-Juhl, a world renowned custom framing company in Atlanta (see their ads in Traditional Home magazine) contacted me about partnering with them and doing a custom frame to fit right in with my office nook look and I couldn’t be prouder of the way they turned out. They assured me that they would take into consideration my office space, how it looks and performs, and choose something to complement it.
And they certainly did!
You can see that the color and style of the frame really enhances my office space and fits right in with what I already have.
Here is how Arlynn from Larson-Juhl described the framing of my articles:
Our in-house designer used one of our new frame moldings from the Biltmore Frame Collection , it’s a large, very classic, ornamented pattern with an antiqued black finish actually inspired by the frames hanging in the historic Biltmore house in Asheville, NC. She also utilized a gold beaded filet (almost like a mini-frame) that sits on the inside edge and then a third, more simple filet (in that same antique black finish) on the very inside of the piece to create a very one of a kind look. We also incorporated two matboards, one in a green color that seems very “you” and another, simple black matboard that the newspaper articles are mounted to – the combination of these two mats really work to make the framed articles look like a priceless piece of artwork & should incorporate nicely into your current home decor.
And I would have to agree. They look fantastic with all of my other colors in here, don’t you think?
You might remember the magazine holder project I did awhile back with scrapbook paper, all in my favorite black, white and green.
And I added 3 pretty crystals that I picked up at an antique store at the beach to my thrifty chandelier.
The zebra memo board got a makeover a few months ago.
And the cording that was added a few months ago, along the lime green wall (Behr’s Grasscloth, same as my laundry room) enhances this space even more.
I’m still in love with my office nook and love it even more now. My memories are complete and will be treasured forever in these custom frames from Larson-Juhl’s Biltmore Collection.
It’s personalized totally for ME! And isn’t that what an office space is all about? I think so. The second frame is just behind my office chair on a small wall and this space is completely filled up now.
Do you have any precious mementos that like me, you are just waiting to frame? If you’ve never considered custom framing, think about it now.

My beloved grandfather’s railroad cap and watch. I’ve been looking for just the right frame to create a shadowbox to do them justice. Or, my mother’s christening dress. What beautiful frames they have available.
I would frame photos of my daughter when she met her idols, the Greenbush twins, who played Carrie on Little House on the Prairie.
I’d do a wedding pic of my hubby and I
Family… Fun…Memories….just a combo of life in our home.
It would look beautiful on my bedroom wall and I would look at it each morning and evening …the perfect way to start and finish my day!
I would get the photography ad my son was in when he was 6 weeks old.
Your office is gorgeous!! I love those color combos!
I would defiantly frame the picture from my header of my blog. I took the picture but it just is very special to me on many levels. I love your decor.
I have a beautiful metal mesh purse that belonged to my grandmother. I would love to have that framed and displayed in my house. What a great give a way!
Your office nook is fantastic and the custom framing just puts something special on the walls.
I would frame the charcoal drawing Dad (an artist)did of Mom’s beloved border collie/spaniel mix Duchess. Fifty five years ago, Mom and Dad were dating. Dad came over to meet the parents and Duchess for the first time. The next date, he presented Mom with the lovely drawing. The eyes are so expressive, every detail of the harness leather collar stitching and buckle is there. It is now in a thrift shop frame, If there were a disaster, that drawing would be one of the first things I’d rescue.
I would love to frame my hubby’s baby trousers that were handmade by his mother, 61 yrs ago! I also have photos my my children & grandchildren that I want to add. I’ve been thinking about doing this myself…but one of those projects I never get around to.
Love your framed article & little office. I too am a fan of green!
Before I got married I was on the American Red Cross national disaster team. The local chapter featured a picture of me with a child after Hurricane George, sitting by his torn up home in Puerto Rico. I’ve always wanted to frame this! I’m also a big fan of family photography, and some nice photos of our family would be nice too!
I actually have several things I would like to have framed- college diplomas, family picture, son’s outfit he wore home from the hospital, or my grandmother’s bonnet.
My oldest daughter, Amber, who was 29 years old passed away on July 24 (2 months today) : ( She would have been 30 years old on August 30 and she had already purchased her scrapbook and stickers for BIG 30 birthday. We had a Celebration of her life on what would have been her 30th b’day. I would love to win and frame memories of her life, especially the memorial in our local paper to her on August 30. I have so much I could incorporate into a memorial of her. I miss her so much! She had a rare form of muscular dystrophy and was basically fine one day and gone the next. It has been such a shock to us. My husband and I were with her and cared for her 24/7 and life will never be the same without her. I do know she is walking the streets of Heaven – but oh how I miss her! Thank you and I do love your blog. I live about an hour north of B’ham.
Your nook is quite cluttered and does no justice to a high-end company like Larson-Juhl.
I don’t know which I love more- your office or your laundry room. May I have permission to copy both in my next house? Congrats on the article(s) and the beautiful frame!
It amazes me that those with negative comments never leave their name, but use euphemisms such as “reader”. They must be too afraid of being found out. “Reader”, whoever you are: not everyone likes the sterile, contemporary look. I, for one, would rather be surrounded by color and mementos. I think Rhoda’s nook is lovely!
I would love to have my grown sons christening outfits framed.
Rhoda, beautiful addition to your office, love it and your colors..
I would love to win a custom framing..I have a 16×20 family picture I have been needing framed for 2 years…its waiting for just the right frame!
I’m single. Don’t have children. Soooooo of course I would frame mementos from the times that I’ve seen my favorite band!! LOLOL! I have tickets, pictures with the band, autographs, etc. that I think would look great together in a beautiful frame to always remind me of all the fun times and great friends I’ve met throughout the years listening to my favorite band – Journey ! 🙂
I would frame my college diploma with a picture of me in my cap and gown. I spent nine years earning a bachelor’s degree, working full-time and paying as I went so I wouldn’t have debt. I graduated 10 years ago and the diploma is still sitting in a box. I would love to have it displayed for my children to see.
