Putting it all Together: Styling with Shoes

Shoes! Mention shoes to most any woman and you’ll get some sort of reaction. Mostly big smiles and eager talk about our favorite pairs, from what I know about our gender. We love us some shoes.  I’m not immune either to being a shoe hoarder and my shoe love goes way back. Buying a new pair of shoes is right up there at the top of retail therapy, just the right cure for any emotional ailment that we might be faced with.

So, here’s a peek inside my closet.  I have one of those shoe sorters that hold 25 pair.  You can see that I have so many that they don’t all fit in there. This doesn’t include the 4 pair of boots that have their own box, as well as several other pairs in boxes.  I’d say my shoe obsession reaches around 35-40 or so, counting boots, not so bad from what I’ve seen out there.

A recent Spring addition from Target.

There’s just something about putting a cute pair of shoes on your feet that instantly cheers a girl up, don’t you think? And if you’ve been reading my blog very long, you will remember that I’ve posted about shoes before.

I keep all my flip-flops in a big basket on top of my closet shelves and pull it down to take out a pair or two.  Are you addicted to flip-flops too?

Favorite yardsale shoes by Crocs, scored from the Blissdom conference.

So, which pair of shoes were your smartest purchase ever??

I’m going to have to vote for these Steve Madden suede flat slouch boots I ordered this year.  I have enjoyed them SO much with tucked in jeans, dresses and skirts.  And the fact that they are flat is a big plus.  They are super comfy.

So, tell me what was your smartest purchase evah?

I’ve showed my closet, now show me yours!

Shoes are not on my love list! When you have weird feet, it is really difficult to find shoes; let alone, ones you love. You have some really cute shoes, however. Sally

I just bought a couple of pair of wedges at Payless. One is a black peep toe and the other is a teal peep toe slingback wedge. I usually don’t get slingbacks because I always wind up with a blister, but I think maybe because these are of a canvas there is more flexibility, and I wore them a whole 8 hour day at the day job and not one pinch, wince or “OMG, I have to get these shoes off”!

I live in flip-flops during the Summer when I am at home {as bad as they are supposed to be for your feet}, I’m very comfortable in them.

A vintage pair of Kenneth Coles, hot pink silk pumps with a point toe. Got them at a vintage resale shop for $20, and had a new tips put on the heels for $2, total bargin, and I will dare to wear them with anything, even if my dog put a puncture wound in the back…they are still so fab I can’t not wear them.

I just reupholstered my new dining room chair. I’d love it if you stopped by and share your thoughts. Have a super week!

I have such problem feet. I *WISH* I could just buy any old pair of shoes but it’s such a problem for me. It stinks!!!! And my poor 16 year old…it looks as though she’s going to have the same problem. I do have one pair of boots that I bought at Penney’s a couple years ago and they were about $40. They are red with a heel and they are awesome. I guess I can say that’s my favorite purchase lately. (And THAT was a couple years ago! Oy!) Oh wait, I did just buy my 9 year old daughter a pair of real Crocs at Big Lots for $10. They are baby blue and she loves them. But they weren’t even for me. 🙁 haha

Love, LOVE the shoe holder that can hold 25 pairs of shoes! Where ever did you find it? I too would need two of them. My shoes are a MESS and I have got to find some way to organize them. Looks like this is it!

Carole, those are available at Target & I think, Lowes has them too. Totally great for storing & organizing shoes. If I had room, I’d get another one, but I don’t!

Hi Rhoda…….Yes, I am very much a shoe addict! My size 5 is going out of the window fast as shoes start in 6’s alot so have ALOT of shoes I grab up when I find my size. I can wear 5 and a half at times too. My most flexible shoes I have bought that I love is my yellow box black wedge with sparkley straps and a platform so to speak. They are made like flip flops buy add a couple of more inches to my petite self for summer and are so comfortable because the wegde/platform part is black cushioney type stuff that is easy on your feet when you are on concrete so standing at Stein Mart on Fridays all day or walking around for hours shopping is no big deal with these shoes on. I bought them on vacation at Gulf Shores and they quickly became my favorite shoes. I know you love your yellow box shoes too! Great shoe collection you have there too! 🙂 Bonnie

I’m an animal-print gal myself! My favorite around-town shoes were a pair of Ralph Lauren loafers with faux zebra on the top. Deliciously comfy, but stylin. I wore them so far past their prime!

Rhoda, I love shoes and if you saw my closet you would be convinced of that. I was trying to think what is my best by ever. That is a hard one for me. I think a girls last purchase is always her favorite flavor of the day. I bought a really cute pair of cobalt patent flats by Sam Edelman on sale, of course, at Nordstroms while shopping on My Spring Fling with my best shopping buddy.

I’m a shoe fanatic. I love my cowboy boots and black BCBG pumps. The best shoe purchase I have ever made was a pair of Finn Comforts. Not the most stylish shoes but they will save your feet, knees, and back. I’m a wedding planner and spend most of my time running around and standing. I recommend them highly!

I store my flip flops separately too! I bought some dollar store sand buckets, Sharpie-ed my name and some designs on them, and lined them up on a shelf in my closet. So cute!

I saw you have some flip flops just like mine….the blue ones.

I just bought 5 pairs of new ( not thrifted, LOL )shoes. 4 comfy pairs and one really rockin pair of strappy wedge sandals in a current style, which I love. Oh how I wish I could wear those high high heels!

A book giveaway, stop on by!

What a fun post, Rhoda. I’ve enjoyed readinig everyone’s comments too. I love shoes, but my father’s bunions have made flip-flops a NO and I have to really shop to get them to fit. I didn’t like the little flats when they first came out, but I’m having fun with them now. I have a really cute pair of purple fabric ballet slippers that I wear with all kinds of stuff. But I must say that I love a pair of heels. They make a woman’s legs look so good!

This comment has nothing to do about shoes. I added my post to Today’s Thrifty Treasures and thought I would be able to read other blogger’s posts. But I can’t find them! How does this work?
