{Giveaway is Closed}

One of the perks of being a design blogger is getting to do book reviews.  And as a lover of Southern Living magazine, of course, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to check out a brand new book by the publisher of one of my favorite magazines.  I’m a Southern girl, after all!

Southern Living Style

As a longtime fan of Southern Living, it was fun to open the packed full of inspiration pages of this beautiful new book and see it for myself.

SL Style page

You’ll find all sorts of inspiration ideas for updating your home.  Gracious hospitality, warmth and effortless elegance signify great Southern style.

SL Style Page 2

Tour the most inspired rooms that have graced the pages of Southern Living magazine in this 288-page guide and grab some great ideas for yourself.

SL Style Page3

Take a mis-matched group of items and learn how to use them together.

SL Style Page4

Turning a dining room into a sitting room is easy with a little guidance.

SL Style Page5

And how many of us have loved taking old cast-offs from the attic or thriftstore and repurposing them into something fresh and glam.  Yes, we have!

Sharing updated ways of using old things, this book will inspire you too. I’m so happy to have it in my personal book collection as a reference guide and just to look at.  I love pretty decorating books!

You’ll find:

  • Defining Southern Style: From heirlooms to monograms, new ways to celebrate traditional icons
  • Reclaim It:  Tips to turn grandma’s attic finds into updated treasures
  • Solutions from Top Southern designers for design dilemmas
  • Style on a Budget:  Identify individual style and build a room around it
  • Why It Works?:  Piece-by-piece deconstruction of rooms to show the key components required to achieve a particular look.
  • Southern Style File:  Black book of editors’ favorite designers, retailers, and more.
  • Defining Southern Style:  A glossary of helpful “decorator speak” terms.

The Southern Living publishers are allowing me to give away TWO copies to my readers!  Squeeeeaaaal!!

I knew that you would be excited about that too, so all you have to do is leave a comment.

Tell me what room in your house needs updating the most and what you hope to gain from reading this book!

That’s it!  Leave a comment and I’ll choose TWO random winners in a few days!

My master bedroom needs some help but so does the guest room. It is a toss up.

This book looks great! Most of our rooms are updated because we just completely renovated but a lot of rooms need completing! Especially our ensuite bathroom!

Unfortunately, I am a student and renting, but I would use this book for decorating ideas…and to help dream up my future house (someday!!) 🙂

This is the first time I’ve ever lived in a house that’s not mine. While living in a rental it’s sometimes hard to do your best within the limitations of the landlord. Add to that being dis-placed from Louisiana to New Hampshire, I couldn’t live without my Southern Living subscription. I would love to re-do our living space.

Oh how exciting! I just subscribed to Southern Living Mag & can’t wait to get my first copy. The addition of this beautiful book would be so SWEET! My room dilemma is my guest room. We’ve just moved into this home & have never had an actual “dedicated” guest room before. It’s really a blank slate except for twin beds, so I would love to get some clever ideas for making it feel really cozy and inviting. Thank you for sharing this lovely give-away.

I love Southern Living!!! I live in a house that was my husband’s and his deceased wife’s and am in the process of making it my own. His precious wife died suddenly and our entire community mourned her loss. Michael and I are so blessed to have a second chance at love. I am trying to blend our families with a home they want to come home to and feel like it is theirs. I am constantly searching for ideas and would love to start in our kitchen. It is so 80’s.

Hi Rhoda….after living in Atlanta for 30 years, I am a Southern Living addict. Love their ideas! My goal is to transition the design theme of the main living area of our home – living room, dining room, kitchen – into a more fluid, modern, connected look. And, I need some serious help! Thanks, Maureen

Rhoda, I would love the book for ideas to update my dining room. Currently, we have inheirted DR furniture, nice but definitely needs to have new life. It is the first room you see when you enter the house so it needs to make a statement. Would love the book for some new ideas and inspiration.

I love the idea of incorporating family treasures and heirlooms in a room’s decorating scheme. It makes the room more special and brings back wonderful memories of people and places! I look forward to reading more about this in the section “Defining Southern Style”.

Our kitchen is in sad need of a facelife (just like me) but we can’t afford it at this time. I’m a southern girl (from western Virginia) and have always nutured this particular interior design (southern) in our home. Would love to have some sweet inspiration for some needed changes in our kitchen (which has been the same for the past 12 years). HELP !!!!!!

Our bedroom gets neglected! I would love more inspiration for “completing” many rooms – making them look more pulled together.

As an Army wife living overseas in government quarters, we are very limited with ways we can decorate and even places to shop for home decor. So needless to say, our whole house needs a lot of help! 🙂

We’ve been working on our home for a few years now but I would have to say that the bathrooms need a little work. Love seeing tips on how to create the most with what you have to work with!

I’d love a copy! Not only are they great for inspiration, but also one of my favorite accessories to decorate with. Who doesn’t love a good coffee table book. Thanks for this opportunity. Liz
