Southern My Way Cookbook Giveaway

{Giveaway is Closed}

Raised in South Georgia’s farm country, cookbook author, Gena Knox has a long history with the land and Southern cooking.  Her newly released cookbook, Southern My Way: Simple Recipes, Fresh Flavor, features more than 250 pages of seasonal recipes (100+ recipes), streamlined for busy lives and accompanied by full-color photographs that portray a lifelong love affair with Southern food and culture. Gena shares her modern take on the region’s culinary specialties.
Says Gena,

“I want home cooks to read my book and feel as though they shared the same culinary experiences that I did as a child, like riding through the fields to check on crops with my father or making homemade biscuits alongside my mother in the kitchen.”

I love that!

(Gena, the author)

Sounds very similar to the way I grew up.  We didn’t ride through the fields, but walked through my parent’s garden plenty of times, freshly picked veggies at the ready.

With a contemporary spin on Southern cooking, Gena’s recipes rely on fresh, seasonal ingredients to make them work with little trouble. And guess what?  We have ONE cookbook to give away to one of my readers.  If you’d like a chance at this beautiful hardback cookbook, just leave a comment telling me your favorite dish to make for your family.

That’s it!  I’ll leave the giveaway open until Sunday evening and choose a winner then.

    We love having people over for dinner – our go to meal is pulled pork bbq in the crockpot although lately it’s been roasted chicken and mashed sweet potatoes.

    Hi Rhoda,
    I’d have to say I love making good old homemade mac and cheese with a toasted bread crumb topping. It’s a favorite around here!

    I think that my family’s absolute favorite is Sunday’s Pot Roast made in the slow cooker with chunky vegetables. I will also make an apple pie for dessert (Ala mode, of course)

    My favorite fun dish is to make home-made cinammon rolls for my family. When I first started, I’d grind the wheat berries into soft whole wheat flour and make them. Now, since time is always short on supply, I make them with frozen pizza dough, and the kids still love them.

    My favorite meal to make is Pot Roast, or Turkey, and my very favorite desert is Ice Box Cake. It is a yellow cake with custard topping and filling and you keep it in the fridge. My mom got this recipe from a neighbor almost 60 years who made it for her kids birthdays–and it has been a family favorite ever since…..

    Hi,
    WoW! I am also from south GA. I would love to try some of her recipes. My favorite meal to cook for my family is chicken and dumplins, fried squash, “cat-head” biscuits, and of course let’s not forget our sweet iced tea (which we drink by the gallons). Oh, yeah…now I’m really hungry. Let me get in that kitchen. Talk to y’all later. ~Jenni
