Southern My Way Cookbook Giveaway

{Giveaway is Closed}

Raised in South Georgia’s farm country, cookbook author, Gena Knox has a long history with the land and Southern cooking.  Her newly released cookbook, Southern My Way: Simple Recipes, Fresh Flavor, features more than 250 pages of seasonal recipes (100+ recipes), streamlined for busy lives and accompanied by full-color photographs that portray a lifelong love affair with Southern food and culture. Gena shares her modern take on the region’s culinary specialties.
Says Gena,

“I want home cooks to read my book and feel as though they shared the same culinary experiences that I did as a child, like riding through the fields to check on crops with my father or making homemade biscuits alongside my mother in the kitchen.”

I love that!

(Gena, the author)

Sounds very similar to the way I grew up.  We didn’t ride through the fields, but walked through my parent’s garden plenty of times, freshly picked veggies at the ready.

With a contemporary spin on Southern cooking, Gena’s recipes rely on fresh, seasonal ingredients to make them work with little trouble. And guess what?  We have ONE cookbook to give away to one of my readers.  If you’d like a chance at this beautiful hardback cookbook, just leave a comment telling me your favorite dish to make for your family.

That’s it!  I’ll leave the giveaway open until Sunday evening and choose a winner then.

I’m always trying different things so it’s hard to pick one, but lately anything involving soup has been a favorite with all of our cold and snowy weather!

I’m new to cooking for my “family”. My family consists of my boyfriend, sister/family, and friends. I enjoy cooking so, and am enjoying all the new experiences. I’m trying perfect my cooking skills before I have to grow up… 🙂

I love to make and eat spaghetti! If I’m treating my hubby it’s usually dirty rice. … He’s from Louisiana! 🙂

I don’t blog, I read them! But my sister’s blog is pretty darn fun to follow. http://teensntoddlers.blogspot.com/

I love, love, love trying new dishes or creations on my family, so I can’t say I have ONE favorite dish I make. They pretty much love anything I put out there, as long as it’s homemade and fresh!

I love making anything sweet….and soups are an all-time favorite. However, now that we have moved to the northwest from Tennessee, I love making “southern” dishes for my new neighbors here.

I love to make the southern comfort food that my grandma taught me to make – Specifically my signature dish is a sweet yet spicy chili made with brown sugar and chili powder. Such a great comfort food for this cold weather!

I’m kind of in a supper time slump right now. I’m so tired of the same old stuff. I’ve been on the look out for new things to try. I made Taco soup last night that was really yummy! A nice change from the Chili I would normally make. The meal I enjoy making the most is breakfast. Breakfast food is comfort food for us. I occasionally make breakfast for supper and we love it. Winning this cookbook could be just the answer to my slump. Pick me! I need the inspiration.

My favorite dish to make is a big pot of chicken and dumplings. I have two versions…my grandmothers (very good but very fattening) and the lower calorie way (my mom’s creation). Thanks for offering this cookbook!

Lasagna is my go-to meal when I want to please everyone.

    Thanks!

Sweets are my weakness. I’ve never met a cookie I didn’t like, but my mother’s peanut butter cookies will always be my very favorite.
