Spring Kitchen and Family Room

Spring is finally here in the South! We’ve had a lot of rain and that’s good for the plants outside so it should be a very lush season here for Spring flowers and shrubs. We have worked so hard on that master bathroom that it’s such a relief to finally have it finished. I’ll be sharing the bathroom next weekend! I did manage to decorate the house for Spring by adding a few touches in the family room and kitchen buffet. These are all things I already had so I try to put them together in a different way every season. It’s sort of fun shopping your own home!

I hope you all are doing OK with the craziness that has gripped our country right now. It feels so surreal to be living with this Corona Virus scare at this time, but it’s a real thing and we all have to deal with it. Please stay safe and try to get through this time. We are definitely staying home more as are our parents, but I hope and pray it blows over quicker than they are anticipating. It’s very unsettling and I know personally a few people who have contracted this virus so it has hit quite close to home. Stay safe my friends!

I’m joining Marty with A Stroll Thru Life today for her annual Spring tour of homes, so please be sure and go to her blog and see her spring tour as well. If you’re coming over from Anita with Far Above Rubies, she always has such a colorful and eclectic mix in her home that is so pretty.

I’ll share more spaces next week, but today let’s look at the family room and kitchen. These areas flow together and I try to keep things in flow here. The front door leads directly to our family room where we hang out most of the time.

We love settling in on the sofa and watching TV in here.

I don’t change out my pillows all the time, they stay pretty much the same year round and I like the colors.

The mantel gets changed every season and I added 3 shutters this time for a backdrop of a few seasonal things.

I did find that chunky wood piece at the vintage market I visited in Greenville a couple weeks ago. I love these moss balls, they are great for so many seasons.

The blossoms are faux and that aqua birdcage is a long ago yardsale find that I’ve had for a long time. It’s still cute!

Right off the family room is the sitting area of the kitchen where I have this antique French buffet. I added those open shelves and they are fun to decorate for the seasons.

This season I decided to get out all my white, green and wood pieces for a nice Spring mix.

I love all the white pottery I’ve collected and they work well together. Green and brown look great with white!

I’ve seen this cute bunny vase making the rounds and I just might have to get it too! (affiliate link)

Faux tulips I got from Magnolia a couple of years ago and they really look real.

Check out these bunnies (affiliate links!):

I still love a few bunnies here and there as well as birds, perfect for Spring. These little architectural pieces are a great addition to any vignette. It’s fun to change things out for the seasons, isn’t it?! Spring is a wonderful time to welcome the lighter and brighter feel into our homes.

I also shared my Spring tablescape with blue and green accents so don’t miss that! And also the living room and foyer Spring inspiration. Lots of spring ideas for you!

Here are a few things from my home to shop, some are the same and some similar, but all my style!

Next on the tour is Laura with Duke Manor Farm. Laura has a beautiful style so don’t miss her spring tour!

The tour will be going on all week, starting today, so I hope you’ll come back here later and check out the other tours each day. All of these ladies work really hard to put these tours together and you will be inspired!

Your bunnies are so cute Rhoda. I’m seriously missing your brass & glass coffee table.
Seriously, if you want to sell it let me know; I’m nearby. I loved your post when you found it at the thrift store and it fit perfectly into your smallish den.
    Stay safe & healthy!

Its so nice to escape from all the constant negative news about the coronavirus with a beautiful Spring homes tour. As usual, your home looks so fresh and beautiful with touches of Spring. It gives us all something to look forward to! We that have faith know we will get through this but we have to be smart and try to stay safe.
I hope the person(s) you know who have tested positive will recover soon. Just curious, do you know if they traveled outside the country or was it spread through a unknown source. We had our first death in Virginia (man in his 70s) who caught it through a unknown source which is scary. On positive news, they are reporting that testing for a vaccine is starting today. While it wont be available for a while this is the first step toward a cure.

HI, Teresa, the people I know who got it all went to church together 2 weeks ago and it spread from there. Where it originated from, no one seems to know but it’s very scary how contagious it is. But the good news it, it seems to affect people differently. The ones I know personally have pretty mild flu like symptoms, but others that they know landed in the hospital with severe respiratory problems. Those people are getting better though, so that’s good and they were in their 30’s, which is also scary!

Every time I view your home I get so many ideas. I love the colors in your kitchen. Even with your use of color you house seems serene and peaceful. I think it is the use of wood throughout that the colors bounce off that make it so. Your floors are beautiful and the light streaming through the doors shows how beautiful they are. Thanks for your home tour.
