Once again this year, I’m excited to be participating with Gina from the Shabby Creek Cottage who is hosting another fun summer home tour, featuring lots of great and inspiring bloggers. I’m happy to be a part of this fine group of 25 bloggers who are participating in this fun summer series.
If you’ve stopped over from Lindsay at White Buffalo Styling Company, welcome! So glad you stopped by!
Some of these pics I’ve shared before, but now that my blog has bigger pics, this will be a better tour than the last one. I hope you’ll enjoy them all over again. It’s been 2 years ago that my dad and I worked on renovating this house and to be living here and not in a construction zone is such a peaceful thing.
If you are new to my blog, WELCOME! I’m so glad you are here. A little about me. I bought a 1979 fixer upper house in April of 2012 and my dad and I spent 6 months renovating it. Move in was October 2012 and I’ve spent the last year putting all my rooms together. I’m really mostly finished with the inside now, but still working on one room, the den.  Hope you enjoy the tour and please come back again!
I’ve been working on the exterior the last few months and a new portico was added in December, as well as a new whole house paint job in spring.
For a complete look back at all the posts in my House Renovation, you can find every single thing we have done to this house. You won’t believe the BEFORE pics!
And here’s a link to my Home Tour with all the particulars about each room.Â
Inside and outside my front door is painted with Annie Sloan Florence paint. I love how bright and cheerful it makes my entry.
My house is a 1979 split level with 3 separate floors, which means lots of stairs. This is coming up to the main level, which has the living room, dining room, and kitchen. Upstairs are the 3 bedrooms and 2 baths and downstairs is the den and laundry room, with yet another set of stairs going down to the 2 car garage.
Living room looking to the dining room. I love soft shades of blues and greens with neutrals of golds and creams. I have collected many antiques over the years and still love my dark woods.
Living room with stone fireplace.
My dining room is traditional in feel, but with a mix of modern too.
I kept it simple with fabrics, colors, and textures. Adding board and batten to this room really made it special as well as the big Ballard Designs lantern over the table.
My kitchen was a complete gut job and we installed Ikea Adel cabinets. I love my kitchen!
These rustic shelves are one of my fave things about my kitchen and they came from Southern Accents in Cullman, AL.
My kitchen was recently featured in Better Homes and Gardens Makeovers Spring 2014 edition.
One way I saved money was by installing pine stair treads, painting them with porch paint and adding a pretty runner from Dash and Albert. They are holding up well!
My office is happy and cheery.
My master bedroom space is very serene and calming and I love it.
I added this pretty gingham paint treatment which was an easy DIY project. In fact, all the projects I’ve done are in my DIY Gallery.Â
Stenciled Ikea drapes complete my DIY bedroom makeover.
A reclaimed wood cabinet found at a yardsale is perfect in this little bathroom to add some much needed character.
My guest bath was freshened up with paint on the cabinets and a countertop makeover using a Rustolem product. It’s still working out fine.
My famous beadboard wallpaper makes an appearance in several areas of my house and I still love this product.
The den is getting a final makeover and I’ll be sharing that complete space soon. This is the gallery wall over the TV.
I recently completed a corner in the den with built in Billy bookshelves and am almost finished with this room.
A coral chair and ottoman was added along with the black and white houndstooth rug and this library corner is done. It’s been really fun to complete all the spaces in my house.
Right off the den, my laundry room space is one of the most dramatic makeovers on my blog and you have to see the before and after on this one to believe it!
I adore my laundry space now! So bright and airy.
My screened porch was finished last June and it has truly been such a sweet spot during the summer months. I can while away hours out there and it becomes my summer office when the weather isn’t too hot.
The table is a perfect spot for evening meals or breakfast. I love having a porch, so Southern!
This is where you’ll find me many days during the summer. Even if it’s hot, I’ll just sweat it out and lounge on the porch with my little fan.
Thank you so much for stopping by. I’d love it if you would subscribe to my blog and come back and visit again soon!
Next on the tour is my friend, Heather, with At the Picket Fence, so be sure and stop by her beautiful home.
A complete list of the tour is below, so I hope you’ll go back and catch up on any you missed. You are going to be inspired for DAYS with this home tour of talented bloggers, no doubt! In fact, I’m going to skip Feature Friday tomorrow so that this post will stay on the homepage all weekend, for your viewing pleasure!

Everything looks so gorgeous. And I’m totally in love with your laundry room and porch. The painted floors are my favorite.

Your house is very beautiful — stylish but also exudes comfort. It is very welcoming and not fussy at all. I love it and the colors you’ve used are very tasteful.

I always love looking at your beautiful home. Each time I notice something I haven’t seen before. This time I noticed your touches of aqua in all of your rooms! It’s such a soothing color.

Rhoda, you have done such an amazing job transforming your once-neglected deal of a house into an absolutely stunning home. Your talent has blown me away over these past few years as I’ve watched this metamorphosis. You are truly an inspiration to this thrifty, ugly-transformin’ DIY diva. Keep up the great work!

It’s very difficult to make a home look “lived in” in such a short time. You’ve accomplished that. Job well done!
Vanessa says
