It’s going to be SO great to have a fully functional, yet pretty laundry room space around here. I still can’t believe the changes when I look at the Before shots of this space. Dingy and dreary are two words that come to mind, but not anymore! Lighter, brighter and fun are now words in my vocabulary when I talk about my beautiful new and improved laundry room.
It’s been great to partner with Sherwin-Williams on this project, picking my HGTV® HOME by Sherwin-Williams paint and getting to buy some accessories for the space. What a fun project it’s been!
Check out their awesome Color Selection Tools.
Let’s look one more time at the BEFORE, the day we bought the house. Can I get a collective YUCK?

And now the AFTER!

Keeping the walls bright white was the best decision I made and one of my favorite colors, Alabaster, by Sherwin-Williams is a true winner. It would be great for trim or walls, it has a slight hint of creamy vanilla and is not at all stark white. The perfect shade of white for me. I even used it on the stripes on the floor, along with Cityscape, a deep gray that enhances my room.

So, let’s get on to the rest, shall we?!

I can’t believe the changes in this room now. It really feels like a finished space, after painting out the walls in the final white shade of Alabaster, as well as painting the trim pieces we added a while back.

Found this really cool blue cabinet at Homegoods and thought it would be perfect in here for storage.
The folks from Royal Design Studio were great to send me one of their stencils to try out, the Chez Sheik Moroccan stencil from the Allover Moroccan stencil collection and added an accent wall above the washer dryer and a shelf from Ballard Designs. And, I got the brilliant idea of hiding the ugly black air ducts to the right of the washer dryer with a pair of curtain panels. They are perfect to help disguise that ugliness and add a soft factor to the room. I’ll tell you all about the details of this space in a later post, but the drapes came from Wayfair.

Another project that you’ve already seen is the new sink base and faucet. I love having this in here!
Covering up the air duct was really key to making this feel like a real room and I think these drapes do the trick. I will try to do another post on how I hung these drapes. I bought large shower curtain rings that opened all the way so that I could snap them over the existing metal water pipe that was up there. It made the perfect curtain rod for the drapes.
I was also able to shop for some accessories in here, and these 2 light fixtures from Ballard Designs complete the space with some pretty details up above. The lighting in here before was a plain naked light bulb. Not appealing at all. I’ve upped the glam factor tremendously with the lighting.
Behind the drapes, I can store a few things, and this is like having a storage closet tucked away next to the refrigerator and out of sight.
My parents got a new toilet in their master bathroom and passed this one on to me to use in this corner. It was already stubbed, and I had my plumber come out and hook it up. It will definitely come in handy around here!
I’m so happy to have most of this makeover done. It’s going to be a great space to have, and I will utilize it to the max. The other end of the room will eventually be a storage closet with a wall in place, and then this space will be completely done-zo!

It looks amazing! I too have my laundry in my basement and you have given me so much inspiration to keep that room looking like a real room.
It would be great to win! I’d use it to help my powder room makeover : )
Wow. You turned a dingy dungeon into a refreshing room! Gives us all hope 😉 I spend sooooo much time in my laundry room we are considering spilling it into the next space! LOL
Amaaazing transformation, as always Rhoda. I don’t need a paint job right at the moment, but I sure know someone who does…a local NFP residential drug/alcohol rehab group is revamping living quarters via volunteers. Some Sherwin Williams goodness would be so welcomed!
wonderful makeover my friend!!! well done. love it all. Thank you for the giveaway opportunity. I’d like to paint the entry area in our grade 🙂 xo P.S. I hope you will add your giveaway to my win it page.
Love your laundry room makeover! I want to paint my living room and kitchen!
This makeover turned out great. It has given me some inspiration to tackle my laundry/storage/junk room.
Thank you so much for the giveaway.
I need a makeover for our master bedroom. Thank you!
I would love to redo my laundry room! afresh coat of paint would be a great starting point!
Thanks
Your laundry room looks divine! What a change! I would love to makeover my laundry room also. I’d like to make it more functional and pretty since I spend a lot of time in there.
Laundry room looks great! I would finish my laundry room as well. In fact, I laughed when I saw the curtain panels to the right, I did the exact same thing in my basement laundry room to cover the a big storage area called underneath the stairs. It worked great and really cozies up the room. And I’ve forgotten all about what might get me from under there?!
Our living room and bedroom are in need of makeovers! Your laundry room makeover is amazing!
My kitchen needs some help. New paint, replace the linoleum and add new baseboards is all it needs, just never seem to have the time and money at the same time.
My son’s new bedroom still has the “old lady” wallpaper, so I’m looking to get that taken down and painting. My son’s wanting the walls to be orange! We’ll see.
I would love to update my master bedroom with a new paint color.
Ms. Rhoda,
I love following all your projects! Your laundry room looks amazing! You and your sweet little daddy did a great job!
I am hoping to tackle our master bath soon. You always inspire me!

Nice job! Have 2projects that are looming on the horizon that involve paint! Would love love to win!
The rec room! We have a newly empty nest and would love to update the rec room to a more adult space. Involves lots and lots of painting of the old, dark woodwork and cabinetry!
