It’s going to be SO great to have a fully functional, yet pretty laundry room space around here. I still can’t believe the changes when I look at the Before shots of this space. Dingy and dreary are two words that come to mind, but not anymore! Lighter, brighter and fun are now words in my vocabulary when I talk about my beautiful new and improved laundry room.
It’s been great to partner with Sherwin-Williams on this project, picking my HGTV® HOME by Sherwin-Williams paint and getting to buy some accessories for the space. What a fun project it’s been!
Check out their awesome Color Selection Tools.
Let’s look one more time at the BEFORE, the day we bought the house. Can I get a collective YUCK?

And now the AFTER!

Keeping the walls bright white was the best decision I made and one of my favorite colors, Alabaster, by Sherwin-Williams is a true winner. It would be great for trim or walls, it has a slight hint of creamy vanilla and is not at all stark white. The perfect shade of white for me. I even used it on the stripes on the floor, along with Cityscape, a deep gray that enhances my room.

So, let’s get on to the rest, shall we?!

I can’t believe the changes in this room now. It really feels like a finished space, after painting out the walls in the final white shade of Alabaster, as well as painting the trim pieces we added a while back.

Found this really cool blue cabinet at Homegoods and thought it would be perfect in here for storage.
The folks from Royal Design Studio were great to send me one of their stencils to try out, the Chez Sheik Moroccan stencil from the Allover Moroccan stencil collection and added an accent wall above the washer dryer and a shelf from Ballard Designs. And, I got the brilliant idea of hiding the ugly black air ducts to the right of the washer dryer with a pair of curtain panels. They are perfect to help disguise that ugliness and add a soft factor to the room. I’ll tell you all about the details of this space in a later post, but the drapes came from Wayfair.

Another project that you’ve already seen is the new sink base and faucet. I love having this in here!
Covering up the air duct was really key to making this feel like a real room and I think these drapes do the trick. I will try to do another post on how I hung these drapes. I bought large shower curtain rings that opened all the way so that I could snap them over the existing metal water pipe that was up there. It made the perfect curtain rod for the drapes.
I was also able to shop for some accessories in here, and these 2 light fixtures from Ballard Designs complete the space with some pretty details up above. The lighting in here before was a plain naked light bulb. Not appealing at all. I’ve upped the glam factor tremendously with the lighting.
Behind the drapes, I can store a few things, and this is like having a storage closet tucked away next to the refrigerator and out of sight.
My parents got a new toilet in their master bathroom and passed this one on to me to use in this corner. It was already stubbed, and I had my plumber come out and hook it up. It will definitely come in handy around here!
I’m so happy to have most of this makeover done. It’s going to be a great space to have, and I will utilize it to the max. The other end of the room will eventually be a storage closet with a wall in place, and then this space will be completely done-zo!

Rodah ~ my husband is a drywall contractor and I wish we lived closer so I could send him over to drywall your ceiling and walls!
How wonderful to make over a room that we all spend too much time in! And usually it is the last area we think of sprucing up. I would love to make over my daughter’s room. She moved home to do an internship and her room just doesn’t reflect the woman she has become.
That is a wonderful and amazing transformation, and I know you will love having this handy laundry room! One more thing I would add — a pretty landscape above the washer and dryer with lots of green and blues from the sky and water to bring some of the outside in and have a restful and peaceful view to look at while folding clothes! (Maybe a grazing cow or two in that landscape! 🙂 )
This looks beautiful! I would love to re-do my den, given the opportunity…it’s the most used room in the house, it seems.
My office is in DESPERATE need of a makeover!
I am making over my sewing/craft room now. Oh how I need this gift card, I love Sherwin Williams paint!!
Your laundry room looks great and it’s huge! I would love to makeover my kitchen.
My den….I actually want more of a neutral color instead of hte sunny yellow I currently have!
I love what you’ve done in your laundry room. I’d love to make over my sunroom as now it’s kind of a catch all for odds and ends.
Wow! It looks amazing! I actually need to redo my laundry room. I consider it the arm pit of my house, it looks so awful.
My basement family room
My bathroom needs to be gutted- Would love to win the prize to get me started!

My basement needs some major attention. Thanks for the ideas!
Wow Rhoda this almost makes me want to do laundry…lol…ALMOST! No seriously this is awesome and I love your space! I want a laundry room makeover too!!!
First off, this is a beautiful room now. Quite the ugly before and spectacular after! The room in my home that’s poised for a makeover is the upstairs teen room that’s becoming a guest room. Of course, my own bedroom needs to be re-painted, too! Thank you and the S-W folks for the great giveaway!
Loving your laundry makeover! So bright and the addition of the patterns really make it look like a fun place to do laundry…..if that is even possible 🙂 I’m not good at laundry. ha. I would love a space like this.
My laundry room and “man cave” – a converted garage that a relitor dubbed “dead space” – I need help!
Rhoda this room looks amazing! It is so inviting and I would also say that it would make me want to do laundry. I love that it is so light and bright in what appears to be a dark area. I love the way you used color and texture in other places (the floor, furniture, accent wall and curtains). I would want to makeover my master bedroom and bathroom. Thanks so much for sharing.
I Can’t deside between two.
1. finishing up my laundry room (starts over a year ago, just ran out of funds)
2. change up the vanity in my bathroom. with a new sink. ( not liking the oak one in there….)
My bedroom, I have always had antique furniture in my bedroom, but would like to go a little bit more antique/contemporary, if there is such a thing!!!
