It’s going to be SO great to have a fully functional, yet pretty laundry room space around here. I still can’t believe the changes when I look at the Before shots of this space. Dingy and dreary are two words that come to mind, but not anymore! Lighter, brighter and fun are now words in my vocabulary when I talk about my beautiful new and improved laundry room.
It’s been great to partner with Sherwin-Williams on this project, picking my HGTV® HOME by Sherwin-Williams paint and getting to buy some accessories for the space. What a fun project it’s been!
Check out their awesome Color Selection Tools.
Let’s look one more time at the BEFORE, the day we bought the house. Can I get a collective YUCK?

And now the AFTER!

Keeping the walls bright white was the best decision I made and one of my favorite colors, Alabaster, by Sherwin-Williams is a true winner. It would be great for trim or walls, it has a slight hint of creamy vanilla and is not at all stark white. The perfect shade of white for me. I even used it on the stripes on the floor, along with Cityscape, a deep gray that enhances my room.

So, let’s get on to the rest, shall we?!

I can’t believe the changes in this room now. It really feels like a finished space, after painting out the walls in the final white shade of Alabaster, as well as painting the trim pieces we added a while back.

Found this really cool blue cabinet at Homegoods and thought it would be perfect in here for storage.
The folks from Royal Design Studio were great to send me one of their stencils to try out, the Chez Sheik Moroccan stencil from the Allover Moroccan stencil collection and added an accent wall above the washer dryer and a shelf from Ballard Designs. And, I got the brilliant idea of hiding the ugly black air ducts to the right of the washer dryer with a pair of curtain panels. They are perfect to help disguise that ugliness and add a soft factor to the room. I’ll tell you all about the details of this space in a later post, but the drapes came from Wayfair.

Another project that you’ve already seen is the new sink base and faucet. I love having this in here!
Covering up the air duct was really key to making this feel like a real room and I think these drapes do the trick. I will try to do another post on how I hung these drapes. I bought large shower curtain rings that opened all the way so that I could snap them over the existing metal water pipe that was up there. It made the perfect curtain rod for the drapes.
I was also able to shop for some accessories in here, and these 2 light fixtures from Ballard Designs complete the space with some pretty details up above. The lighting in here before was a plain naked light bulb. Not appealing at all. I’ve upped the glam factor tremendously with the lighting.
Behind the drapes, I can store a few things, and this is like having a storage closet tucked away next to the refrigerator and out of sight.
My parents got a new toilet in their master bathroom and passed this one on to me to use in this corner. It was already stubbed, and I had my plumber come out and hook it up. It will definitely come in handy around here!
I’m so happy to have most of this makeover done. It’s going to be a great space to have, and I will utilize it to the max. The other end of the room will eventually be a storage closet with a wall in place, and then this space will be completely done-zo!

Love, love, love- what a great place – it might actually be fun to do laundry!! I need to give my laundry room a redo- it feels neglected after seeing yours!
This makeover turned out fantastic, I love the lighting from Ballard (one of my favorites) and the stenciling on the wall is so pretty. The floor looks terrific as well as that cabinet and sink area, I am sure that will come in handy. We don’t need a room makeover since we are getting ready to build our new one level home (via my blog). Great job as usual.

I need to spruce up my grandsons’ bedroom. It was originally our guest room and I did a Victorian theme in there, but now it’s a little boys’ room and pale lavender walls and creamy off white desk doesn’t seem to fit, lol. Love your laundry room. What a HUGE change!
I would love to makeover our entryway! Thanks!
I love the curtains! At first I was wondering how you moved the air ducts until I realized they were just hidden.
The next room on my makeover list that needs paint is the kitchen, especially the cabinets. Thanks for the chance to win!
Your laundry room is beautiful. We are about to embark on a room remodel because we are expecting our first child. So, our spare bedroom will now become a nursery. I would love to use this paint for that room!
Funny, I’m working on a laundry room too. Just finished framing it out and the plumber and electrician are coming next to do their thing. We built a new garage so the old garage will be used for other things, part of which is a laundry room. I’ll get to leave the old low ceiling basement (or high ceiling crawl space) behind – yes!
Rhoda,
What a transformation, and there is nothing better than to be in a room you enjoy, especially when you have to do the dreaded chore of laundry, You now have a very happy working space, Congrats on such a great job,
xoxo

I loved your old laundry room, but this one is amazing. I would love to have that much room! Mine is tiny with an old ugly olive green wall cabinet, furnace and water heater taking up all the room. I would love to repaint the cabinet and walls and find someway to hid the appliances. A $100 Sherwin-Williams gift card would do wonders in this room!
I love to read your posts and your house looks amazing!

My master bedroom is a blank slate–it really needs some perking up!
My sewing/craft room! It is living in an era from 20 years ago.
I think my kitchen needs an accent wall!
I would love to redo our 1954 red/white swirl plastic tile bathroom! It is the last room that needs updating in our home and would love to update yet keep some of that 50’s look!
Love the pattern of the rug in your room! Would you mind sharing where you purchased?
HI, Anne Marie, that rug came from Rugs USA online. I’m pretty sure it is still available.
Your laundry room looks amazing! I would choose a laundry room makeover! Mine is small, contains the washer dryer, water heater, furnace, utility sink, small shower and toilet. The furnace and water heater are located on each side of the door as you walk in and the furnace vented across the room, so low overhanging venting. :0( I have no clue what to do!
Rhoda!! It looks fabulous! I need a major paint makeover in our guest room. I am stumped! I would love to win a $100 makeover. Thanks for the chance!
Live the makeover! My bedroom hasn’t been painted in 10 years so it definitely would get painted if I won the gift. Thanks
My laundry room also needs a makeover. Thanks!
Inspired use of pipe and drapes!
The kitchen…most definitely the kitchen.
