It’s going to be SO great to have a fully functional, yet pretty laundry room space around here. I still can’t believe the changes when I look at the Before shots of this space. Dingy and dreary are two words that come to mind, but not anymore! Lighter, brighter and fun are now words in my vocabulary when I talk about my beautiful new and improved laundry room.
It’s been great to partner with Sherwin-Williams on this project, picking my HGTV® HOME by Sherwin-Williams paint and getting to buy some accessories for the space. What a fun project it’s been!
Check out their awesome Color Selection Tools.
Let’s look one more time at the BEFORE, the day we bought the house. Can I get a collective YUCK?

And now the AFTER!

Keeping the walls bright white was the best decision I made and one of my favorite colors, Alabaster, by Sherwin-Williams is a true winner. It would be great for trim or walls, it has a slight hint of creamy vanilla and is not at all stark white. The perfect shade of white for me. I even used it on the stripes on the floor, along with Cityscape, a deep gray that enhances my room.

So, let’s get on to the rest, shall we?!

I can’t believe the changes in this room now. It really feels like a finished space, after painting out the walls in the final white shade of Alabaster, as well as painting the trim pieces we added a while back.

Found this really cool blue cabinet at Homegoods and thought it would be perfect in here for storage.
The folks from Royal Design Studio were great to send me one of their stencils to try out, the Chez Sheik Moroccan stencil from the Allover Moroccan stencil collection and added an accent wall above the washer dryer and a shelf from Ballard Designs. And, I got the brilliant idea of hiding the ugly black air ducts to the right of the washer dryer with a pair of curtain panels. They are perfect to help disguise that ugliness and add a soft factor to the room. I’ll tell you all about the details of this space in a later post, but the drapes came from Wayfair.

Another project that you’ve already seen is the new sink base and faucet. I love having this in here!
Covering up the air duct was really key to making this feel like a real room and I think these drapes do the trick. I will try to do another post on how I hung these drapes. I bought large shower curtain rings that opened all the way so that I could snap them over the existing metal water pipe that was up there. It made the perfect curtain rod for the drapes.
I was also able to shop for some accessories in here, and these 2 light fixtures from Ballard Designs complete the space with some pretty details up above. The lighting in here before was a plain naked light bulb. Not appealing at all. I’ve upped the glam factor tremendously with the lighting.
Behind the drapes, I can store a few things, and this is like having a storage closet tucked away next to the refrigerator and out of sight.
My parents got a new toilet in their master bathroom and passed this one on to me to use in this corner. It was already stubbed, and I had my plumber come out and hook it up. It will definitely come in handy around here!
I’m so happy to have most of this makeover done. It’s going to be a great space to have, and I will utilize it to the max. The other end of the room will eventually be a storage closet with a wall in place, and then this space will be completely done-zo!

Hello! Iwould like to have help with my bathroom. I had an accident that has put me in a wheel chair for the next few months so I c0ntacted a wonderful contactor who came to my home to begin work on my bathroom so that I could have access to it. He removed the wall between the bathroom and bedroom so we could enlarge the space for acess for handicap people. I really think it could be a beautiful bathroom as well as functional for someone that is physically impaired without having a typical steril look of some handicap bathrooms I’v seen. Any ideas? I would love some help with putting this bathroom together. Thanks so much!
I am still plugging away at the kitchen reno)
Rhoda, Your laundry room went from an eyesore to one that is SO cute. My bathroom was probably remodeled in the 80’s and I’ve been living with it for 3 long years. Iris
I want to put up Batten and Board in my powder room like you did in your dining room. I will be going to your blog to get all the details on how to do it. Paint from Sherwin-Williams would be great. Hope I win!
I would love to be able to re-do my kitchen. It has old wallpaper with a border, and I love the look of the white kitchens I see on the decor sites and magazines. Sherwin-Williams paint would really make me a new kitchen!
launndry room looks great! i need help with my master bedroom. i painted it a totally wrong color and it is depressing to be in! i have some ideas but time and energy just always seem to be the issue.
Love the new makeover. My laundry room could use some help as well. I always start thinking about it and then get overwhelmed! Maybe this will motivate me.
It would be great to work on my husband’s office. It is stuck in the mid 90’s and needs a facelift! What better way than to start w/ a great new wall color!
My husband’s office is calling my name. Would love to get it up to par with the rest of our place.
I’d love to make over the dining room – a fresh coat of paint and some new curtains will really make a difference.
Would love to paint my laundry room. Rhoda, you are an inspiration!
I’d love to redo my kitchen. It’s the main place we live in the house, and it’s a depressing mix of 1990’s old wallpaper and hard use from five kids over the past 20 years. Need help ASAP!!! 🙂 I love your laundry room makeover, by the way. Amazing!
Wow, you even decorated your laundry room…I love it!! I’d also love to win the Sherwin Williams prize. My family room needs help 🙂
I would love to finally be able to get started on my kitchen reno!
I am wanting to redo the hallway bathroom on our main floor, Rhoda, and this would help out tremendously! It is a small space but it could look so special with some new tiles and a few other accessories. Thank you for the opportunity to win and I love the look of your laundry room! Have you thought about adding a folding screen around the toilet to make it a little more private?
I’m leaving a comment, but comments don’t always show here.
I’ve used all SW paints in my home.
I need to paint my sleeping porch/laundry room next both interior and exterior. I hope I win the paint! I blogged about yours and Sherwin-Williams’s paint give- away here. http://butterflyandbungalow.blogspot.com/2013/05/sleeping-porch-progress-update.html
Wow!! Fabulous makeover! My bathroom could really use a makeover! 🙂
I really want to paint my kitchen cabinets & my living room.
We’re prepping to sell our house, I think it would be wise to repaint my front porch…that’s where I would start if I were to win.
I would love to updated my kitchen by painting my cabinets, replace the hardware, and paint the walls and ceiling.
