The NEW Nate Berkus Show!

Have you heard that Nate Berkus is going to have his own show this Fall?  Well, he is! I just adore Nate’s style and all he does and have followed him for years since he first made an appearance on Oprah’s show, decorating up a storm.  The guy is fantastically talented, no doubt about it and it doesn’t hurt that he is a handsome rascal too! 🙂

Nate’s new show launches September 13th in NYC and I can’t wait to see it!  I heard from those very funny Moggit girls on Twitter that they suggested to Nate (via Twitter) that there should be a show with the WHOLE audience filled with design/decor bloggers and that he has promised it will happen.  Now wouldn’t that be fun? I’d LOVE to be a part of that one!  There are a bunch of bloggers sharing posts today about Nate and their favorite projects of his, so I’m joining in too. Click here to see the whole list of bloggers blogging about Nate today.

Since I have his book, Home Rules, I’ll share one of those.  He has done so many fantastic projects, it’s hard to pick one.  This happens to be the very first project he shared on the Oprah show back in 2002 and was the redo of a 319 s.f. historic brownstone in Boston that had 18 foot ceilings.  Talk about a dramatic change, this one was stunning:

When a space is this small, every inch counts and Nate made the most of every tiny millimeter.

Stylish, beautiful, not to mention functional too.

Nate has hit so many homeruns in his career and I can’t wait to see more.  And how I would love to be in the audience of the decor bloggers this Fall.  If you’d like to get in on the opportunity, you can post about it too and put your name on the list.  I don’t know how they will choose who is going to be invited, so we’ll all find out.

Pick me, Nate’s producers, pick me, I’d love to go to the show in person with all those other design bloggers!

Do you remember Nancy Golden from HGTV fame many years ago?  That’s none other than Nate’s pretty and talented mom, so the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

Do you enjoy Nate’s design talent too?

I loved the black & white bedroom Nate did on the Today Show (I think) the week of July 20th. Could you tell me where to get the painting of the black oval & the bedspread & pillows? Thank you!

Thank you all for stopping by this post! I think some of you misunderstood what this post was all about. It’s a tribute to Nate’s talent & his new TV show that starts this fall & I’m trying to get picked to get on a design blog show with Nate. That’s all it is! I don’t have any pull with Nate, nor can help you get a consultation with Nate, nor do I have any insight on any of his shows.

Sorry, but thanks for stopping by!

My sister also luvs you….it would be a dream for you to redesign her kitchen – she nearly wants to pull out every hair in her head…. If you can come out to Hillsborough, NJ, please let me know. Anything you can do would be great!

    Nate,

I’ve watched you”grow-up” on Oprah. Now, I have a favor to ask…my wonderful son has a 100+ year old home in Kingston, NY. NTS first capitol–he needs help with his kitchen and on a teacher’s salery, he can’t afford much…can you help with your show? We have helped him redo his bathroom and add a half bath, put in replacement windows, a new furnace and air-conditioning but we are about done…he needs more help…how about it Nate…remember your favorite teacher and help our son! If Nate wants to do a make over, he can come to my home anytime. I have a dated 70’s house and it hs so many possibilities, just needs that touch of an expert. When we purchased the house we had ideas and then I lost my husband and now I am lost as to what to do with this home. It is in a great neighborhood.

    Nate,
My mom once told me never to move into a house you don’t love and I should have listened! When we moved into our 1950’s house we were originally only supposed to be here a year! Six years later we’ve outgrown our house and it’s just not functional. We’ve tried to make some improvements, but they just haven’t helped. My husband is currently stationed in Kuwait and I’d love for him to come home to a house he would no longer recognize!
    Thanks Nate. You rock!

hi there, i was googling nate’s show and find your blog. I just had to share with you that I went to a taping of his show in NYC today and just posted about it. He is adorable and so sweet….the show today was a makeover for a family struck by tragedy and kinda sad. Im going to have to google Nancy Golden..the name sounds familiar but I have to see her face. Well it was nice visiting your blog.

    Dear Nate,

I have always enjoyed watching you on Oprah . Thank you for sharing your gift for decorating and your life. You gave a very simple tip on Oprah a year or so ago. You said, “Just go out and buy what you love.” I always dreaded decorating. I got caught up in matchy-matchy as they say. I recently had my living room, kitchen and a dinning room painted. Although it has been a 5 month process, I have been doing just what you advised and am actually enjoying myself decorating these room. Thanks again and I will continue to watch your show! Josie~

    Good morning Nate,

I would like to share with you. Many years ago when I first read it I was so humbled that I was brought to tears. I’ll have to paraphrase because it was so long ago that I cannot remember the exact words.

During recess at her elementary school a little first grade girl was playing with a few other girls on the playground. It was her first day at school and she was not yet acquainted with any of the other girls. As she stood alone at the edge of the playground one of her school mates approached her, and as young children often do, bluntly said…“Oh you’re the kid that doesn’t have a home…you’re homeless aren’t you?”

The little girl responded by saying…”No, I’m not homeless. I have a home; I just don’t have a house to put it in.”

Since first reading this story, “Homeless” is no longer in my vocabulary. It was replaced with “Houseless” which more than appropriately defines the true situation that many without a roof over their heads find themselves. It is my wish that everyone else in the world would revise their vocabularies in the same manner because the word “Homeless” is so degrading and so humiliating.

Thank you for taking the time to read this story.

Nate I am 74 a have a bad crush on you. My daughter laugh’s at me all the time when I tell her that. I don’t know if this is how to win the SUV..but if anyone need’s it more than me I don’t know….I drive a 1984 Buick…it would make my year if I could be one of the winner’s. I think I am already a winner though by just getting to see your handsome face each day, in fact I tape it ever day and some time’s I watch it again that evening…..I love what you can do on a shoe string budget.
