Thrifty Fashion: What I Wore Wednesday

I really do wear those clothes I find thrifting. Nothing thrills me more than finding something that fits and looks good for a couple of dollars.

Take this black/cream dress for instance. I paid $2 for it at the Bridgemill sale a few weeks ago.

I pulled it on over my clothes to see how it might fit and I could tell that it would work out just fine.  I had in mind to wear it over black leggings and wear flip-flops with it.  Breezy and casual is the look I was going for.

Turns out to be one of my fave outfits.  It’s cool and cute at the same time.  I wasn’t at all sure I wanted to wear leggings again. Usually when you’ve been through one fad fashion, it might be a good idea to skip it the 2nd time around, but I’ve seen other women my age pull it off, so I thought I can do that too!  I do like it and will wear it again.  It’s really comfy too.

With my yardsale mother of pearl necklace and earrings that I picked up for about $2 or $3 (at 2 different sales), this is one cheap….umm….inexpensive outfit.  And I love frugal!

Check out these black and silver flip-flops which have turned out to be some of my faves this year.  I got them at the beach in Destin at Beall’s Outlet.  Have you ever been there?  My sister and Susan love that store and so when I was down there camping with them, I had to check it out too.  Got these for about $8 on sale, since we hit it on sale day.  See those rosettes on the top?  Those are black zippers rolled up in a flower!  Isn’t that cool?  I thought that was a fabulous idea for a flip-flop look.  You could totally copycat that in any color.

So, that’s my frugal outfit of the day.  Are you shopping thrift these days?  I do, every chance I get.  In fact, I found the cutest little consignment shop in Kennesaw that my friend, Judy, took me too.  I’ll have to show you what I found there.  Great name brands too!

I’m joining the What I Wore Wednesday party at The Pleated Poppy.

You look adorable! No one would EVER guess your outfit was thrifted!

I have those same flip flops in blue (purchased at Bealls). LOVE them and I get a lot of compliments on them. Even a male customer in Home Depot remarked, “Cute shoes!” Made me laugh. 🙂

    Hi Rhoda,
You are the only girl I know that can go shopping at a yard sale and look like you stepped out of a photo shoot for clothing. Neat outfit.

Bealls and their outlet is the neatest place to shop. I love it. I have found many wonderful things there and at a great price. I hit every Bealls I can find when I am in Florida. LOL

    Hugs,
    Connie

You look absolutely GAW-JUS!!! Awesome thrifty outfit! I love the dress AND the jewelry AND the shoes!!!!!!!
I just got awesome $2 Anne Taylor shoes at our base thrift store here in Italy, but, alas, I had to send them to my daughter as she needed them more! She’s been stealing so many of my super finds lately! 🙂

And I’ve turned into an Italian Market HOUND DOG, sniffing and hunting out the best vintage thrifty linens, etc.
    😉
    Hugs/blessings,
    Lana

Rhoda, you look great in that outfit. The sandals are amazing! Do you still work out every day? That would explain why you look so good in everything you put on!

Hi Rhoda: The outfit looks great! I too love the leggings look and would love to incorporate it into an outfit. I bought some great cotton shirts at my local Goodwill store and linen jackets – all for about $7.00 each. I love a great deal! thanks for sharing…:0

Oh, Rhoda. Of course you can wear leggings! You’re tall and thin. The whole outfit is just darling. I can sure understand it becoming your favorite.
